Chrysler sought a "bailout " years and years ago. I remember when NYC asked for federal help....the NY Daily News headline was "Ford to NYC: Drop Dead". My point is, Chrysler is still here as is NYC with and without "bailouts". The US economy isn't "collapsing". While it may be quite simple to blame Bush for everything, policies under both republicans and democrats are responsible. I understand what you mean about healthcare, except if I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath for the federal government to solve it, even if your buddy is elected.
Not so fast. Check your facts. Daimler took over Chrysler in 1998 and just recently sold it to Cerberus Capital Management LLC. in 2007 for 5 billion USD. In case you don't know, Daimler (or as we knew it, Daimler-Chrysler) is the Number 1 company in Germany. They produce Mercedes-Benz. BTW, the only reason it's an American owned compnmay now is because it was failing at Daimler, though it was still ranked number 3 as a US carmaker.
I'm well aware of Daimler....my point was, and is, Chrysler still exists.
Well alright then. Just keeping you honest.

If Obama really wanted to win this he should have picked Hillary, cause then Bill would have been running the country. Sarah Palin though she doesn't have too much experience, is on her way to becoming a media darling. McCain did the right thing by giving her a shot. He will be the next President. Unfortunately Obama is far too Muslim for this country. It ain't gonna happen, no way, no how.

Not by the same token. He's been in debates, has given interviews. You may not agree with what he says, but we know where he stands. Sarah is being muzzled, and that's not very American.
Agreed. Can someone please explain how she will "shake up Washington"?? When does a VP have any clout to do so??
Pardon me, I disagree - following your line of thought, Phillip - we would have not gotten to know Barak Obama if he had not been running for President. He and his closest advisors have seen to it that we have only gotten a Saturday Evening Post, Norman Rockwell positive perfect picture of him. A very scripted story book version ... not too much dirt digging has been allowed, very unlike what they are trying to do with Sarah Palin
I think you are totally missing the point that EVERY speech Palin has made as VP candidate is scripted ... written by the Republican speech writers. She has NOT had an interview or a Q&A from the media. I find it hard to believe that this has not been played up more in the media. It's an obvious point to me, but apparently as suggested by some of the above posts, some people think the words coming out of her mouth are her own. At this point, she is nothing more than a broadcaster reciting a script that was written by someone else. They are keeping the bulldog muzzled and on a tightly teathered leash. She has a good delivery and they are making the best of it. It'll be another story once/if she ever starts speaking off the cuff or has to answer questions not in her repertoire. I'll give her less than a week (and you can quote me on that).

I have already made up my mind to vote for Obama. love doris.

Here's an interesting essay on Palin, written by a Democratic member of the Alaska House of Representatives: She's Nice -- but Not Ready By Mike Doogan, Washington Post, Wednesday, September 3, 2008; Page A15 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/02/AR2008090202438.html

I'm not trying to be cute here but its true, the only differences between Bush and Palin is lipstick. She is being groomed by Bush people its been reported. Her policy sounds like Bush and she is abusing the christian right by implying she is one of them and is going to make all the Row vs Wade changes. Bush didn't in 8 years. Give it up. No one can change the will of the majority. Why is she going there? If she such a Mavrick. You don't go along with the flow... If you belive in our constitution you do not mix church and state and if you do than you do not deserve to be a President of our country. We can not afford to allow 200 years of struggle to be changed by one group of neo con's. That is a dangerous path to lead up. It might start off sounding OK... there decent good people. But when you can't get a job unless your a Mormon or you can't get a job because you don't belong to this certain church. Than people well get it. Why do you think so many Irish flocked to the US. She pandering to the Busheep! If he can't even show his face at his own convention because he is the most unpopular president ever!!!! Why would anyone vote this woman in. Oh excuse me.. McCain in. : Like I said I own land in Wasilla. I have a close friend who I talked to last night. He met her in Wasilla when she was running for Governor at a party and talked to her for quite a while. He said this image we are seeing right now on TV is not the same person he met and has seen run for local politics. He said she is totally programed. He says her mannerism and the way she is expressing herself. It like "Sybil" some other personality. He can barely recognize her . Don't expect all Alaskan to vote for her. Yes they want Anwar to go for sure. They like the money she will bring in. However Alaskan's don't like phoney. She comes off pretty phoney. It too bad she couldn't be true to herself. I guess a honest man or woman can't win. They need to be able to change with the tides.

please don't mess elections with this or you gonna have all the reps voters defending Palin position or so... that's not the point. Russia is doing things for real, all seems so heated up that words like this "perhaps a war with russia" can be pronounced. It's not about Palin, if Russia wants war there would be war.... it doesn't matter... the problem is a situation. But I'm kind of (I guess) optimistic and I don't want to believe it's true, but so obvious words and facts kill my optimism, maybe for the good. I think I've been naive for much time and now I have a reality shock... but I'm sure I'm not the only one

No comments on the Palin interview by Charlie Gibson!?! (I'll refrain from "I told you so" until they're finished airing all the segments.)
-
bush, chaney, mccain, palin and the rest of the crazies are war mongering maniacs. They will not be satisfied until we have a major war.

Well, the mods have merged my posts here. I posted them in a different thread... actually I wanted to talk about it ALL. About what Chavez has shouted today. And the US embassador fired of Bolivia and Venezuela. At least Putin has not answered with "C'mon, when do you want to start?" or so... but in a very diplomatic way. I don't know if he really mean it but it's quite relaxing.... But maybe what Palin says is the true situation of it all and we wouldn't have to be so relaxed. 48 minutes ago Medvedev "would attack Georgia even if on NATO track" [urlhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080912/wl_nm/russia_medvedev_dc;_ylt=AlVgNm8INvy.FKKq7HHvFsN0bBAF what the heck is this? well it is what is. "Medveded leaves open war with the USA" we could say now. what do you say? will the human race be run in a day? or will someone save this planet we're playing on? what are we gonna do? better forget it

If you are part of NATO, that's the deal. Neither Georgia or Ukraine are part of NATO yet, so take a breath Oliver.

You're right Oliver....Russia is doing things for real. It's an old movie now showing in digital high definition.

I think I'm gonna start not taking seriously what politicians say. Even if they're presidents or candidates of whatever, they can say what they will about anything.... I'm not listening
