Clinton Again Calls on Obama to Debate Feb 17, 10:37 AM (ET) By BETH FOUHY KENOSHA, Wisc. (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton renewed her call Saturday to debate Democratic rival Barack Obama in Wisconsin before Tuesday's primary, even as she acknowledged she would cease campaigning in the state a full day before voters go to the polls. "This is what happens when you've got the kind of schedules that we're all trying to keep up with," she said. "I care deeply about what happens here in this election." Clinton advisers have downplayed Clinton's chances in Wisconsin even as polling indicates the race could be close here. While the state is home to many liberal, college-educated Democrats who have typically favored Obama, it also boasts a large population of white working-class voters who form the core of Clinton's electoral base. complete article ... http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080217/D8US5AK01.html

What a jerk....
Hillary won't lose secret service protection should Obama get the nomination. As a former first lady she had it before becoming a candidate and will continue to have it for her lifetime.

She down in Texas instead of voting in the Senate where important laws and being made right now. Obama and McCain where there but Hillary in Texas the land of Bush and the evil empire selling her sole to the devil.
Please. Both Hillary and Obama were there to vote on the economic stimulus package as drafted by the senate. That would've provided an extension of unemployment benefits and help for fuel. It failed by "one" vote: McCain's because he wants the party's nomination. So much for his willingness to "reach across the aisle to democrats" as he often says in his campaign. He wasn't even there!
Sorry your wrong. He was there it was on the news with footage however Hillary was not.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/06/mccain-misses-vote-on-eco_n_85441.html. Interesting that McCain has missed all the roll calls in the senate this year.
the footage I saw showed both McCain and Obama talking and the commentary was Hillary was not there. Regardless don't know how other feel but I think all these guys should be forced to give up there seats when they decided to throw there hats in. Why should the people be cheated on important issue not passing because there elected offical have decided to run for another office and take a years off to do it.
If a senator chooses to resign his seat, the governor of the state appoints someone to fill out their term....the people of the state would not have a say in the matter. It can also affect which party has the majority.

Reading between the lines - the article makes it quite clear most secret agents who have protected her, will not be voting for her. I'm sorry that you feel you have to resort to degrading words regarding another person on this board. That is not called for at any time - even if you do not agree with them and/or an article they posted.

Hello Everyone, Thanks for sticking up for me Andy, and thanks 1964 for clearing up the misunderstanding. Ex-presidents used to get secret service protection for life. In 1994 Congress reduced lifetime protection for all presidents elected after 1997. It was reduced to 10 years from the time they left office. It's a stupid law. But I think it may have been passed because Nixon gave up his own secret service detail in 1985 saying he doesn't need it anymore. If he makes a public appearance he said he could always hire a couple of bodyguards for the occasion. He said it was a waste of taxpayers money to continue secret service protection. At the time it was passed it would stand to reason that if Nixon didn't need it after 11 years no other president would. As it turns out Bush 43 is the first president that will be affected by this law. But adjustments could be made as needed without changing the law. If a president is about to lose his detail it can be continued indefinitely if deemed necessary. Something tells me Bush is gonna need it for much longer than 10 years. Major candidates are supposed to be protected starting 120 days before the election. That changed for this election cycle after Obama asked for and got secret service protection on May 2007. That's 18 months instead of four. It looks like McCain is getting it too. The 10 year law for ex presidents should be tossed, especially after 9/11.

Happy Valentines Day Here's a scarey valentines day vid...so loving Bush & McCain
PeaceWell look here. It's put up by the Democratic Party itself, and not a blog. Who would have ever thunk it? I would have thought tasteless humor was only put out by Republicans. I'm glad I saw it though, because we need a third term with Bush, but the law won't allow it. The next best thing is McCain who won't abandon Iraq to genocide while giving al Qaeda a victory and making certain that our soldiers who died did so in vain. Bin Laden would be so proud of Obama who promised he will abandon Iraq. And Hillary? Who knows. She would have to check the morning polls before making a decision. I lost all respect I ever had for Obama after hearing his version of the communist manifesto tonight when he gave his victory speech in Texas for his win in Wisconsin. He's gonna go after the evil rich to fund every imaginable handout to turn the US into a third world country. By the way, if you make $75,000 a year he's going after you because you are the evil rich who has ruined this country. I'm really glad his bride is finally proud to be an American for the first time in her adult life. If Obama loses she will probably go back to hating America.

2. Change - you give Washington DC your dollars -- and they give you change
Change?? like change back after a transaction ...I've been missing out on this part of the deal Or is it "change" as in from my hand to theirs...that deal I've been waaaay to involved in over the years :
That's what Tony Snow said. Obama talks about change. That's all we will have left in our pockets if he gets elected.

My impression since both Wallace and Kennedy were both shot while running for president is that secret service protection is provided to candidates once they announced their candidacy.

I thought that was the national debt figure....the budget deficit is a different number. It's probably a couple of billion
