The ..2012.... Political thread

If the leaders in Washington have as much raw hatred and inability to compromise or acknowledge the accomplishments of their opposition as members of Paul McCartney's site then I fear that the USA is nearing its end.

Liberals: Open-minded. Conservatives: Narrow-minded. Makes sense to me.
Or: Conservatives: calculated risks after weighing the options Liberals: Throw caution to the wind because Utiopia rules
Conservatives can't calculate risks and weight options very well...that's what the study is about....their fears over weigh their reasoning.
strongest example of conservatives non-reasoning ability is the fact that they are still advocating policies are have been proven not to work...greatest example they're still pushing trickle down economics when it has been a disaster...what part of it doesn't work do they not understand
What part of 'Obamenomics' is working?
Rich, Bush out spent Obama. This banking fiasco did not happen 2 weeks after Obama took office. It happen the 8 years before. This War Bush started and now turns out did nothing to help America. Fact, according to the head of the military, the US is in more danger of a down fall from the spending, (TOTALWAR SPENDING) than any fear of another nation attacking us.. this came from the head of the military. We have known for many many years are leadership wasn't working. But we've have all been kept down to a point that no one has the resources to make change. Shoot are courts systems are not even used by people because of the cost. The main source of lawsuits are government action.

And, unlike Bush, Obama is actually putting the Iraq war on "the books."

Yes but now we in two more wars. I mean X's 3. We losing our way of life. Americas work harder than any other country. Mexico and most country close up and take Siesta during the day. We work a average of 8 hrs if not 10-12 and both parents work. No other county does that. Now after all that they won't even take care of our broken down bodies . We paid into Medicare and Social Security. They have underfunded it on purpose.. and believe me they want rid of it to free up more money for war. Roosevelt warned about the military industrial complex. We as a nation need to stop allowing them to crate this atmosphere of fear.. One isolated attack that we don't know who was behind and look how we let them strip us of our freedoms and rights and the bankrupt our country. With all the money going to protection of its citizens, why and how did 911 happen? Has anyone ever demanded an answer to that question. I been warned of the big attack since I was a kid hiding under my desk in first grade.cause the bomb might come. Any terrorist can walk across our boarders now.. I'm not feeling any safer. In fact,I think we are falling apart as a country. There's talk now of succession. and one thing. We're buying peace in most of these countries. What do you think will happen when you cut funds to your own people. Forcing poverty and despair, your going have some serious crime and unrest in this country.. Poverty is where most crime and violences comes from. You start forcing elderly to live with there kids and drag there quality of life down and you see more abuse of the old. Old people paid for there life style. They don't deserve to suffer because the goverment spent the wad on playing army.

True conservatives should be embarrassed that Trump is polling so high. Is he really the best ya'll can do?
Well, to tell the truth - I've had nothing to do with putting him up and I have not financially supported or contributed to his "campaign". I'm not embarrassed ... I might not agree with everything he's said ... but I am glad that he's not a part of the same olde, same old and I'm glad for the raw guts he's displayed in his efforts (perhaps some of what he has said mirrors some of the things when the Prez. said against Bush...) :

Like I said Trumps joined the crazy train to crazy town. The reason the Rep are so outrageous is attention.. Media not going to report on a common sense statement. They want that reality TV chaos. And they get lots of attention. If it were not for crazy, Bachman wouldn't get on the weather channel let alone national TV. They know there not going to get in. Obama will get in. Why wouldn't he;he's given the rich banksters bonuses,d re-shored up their banks, he put all of the wall street thieves head of his administration. He saved the riches tax break, He gave the insurances companies a whole new set of clients that they can screw. Hell he done more for the rich than he done for anyone else.. Let not forget unemployment benefits were paid into by the employers.

But he's being so reckless with his rants. He doesn't believe most of what he's saying. Wasn't he a big Kerry supporter in 2004? Wasn't he a Democrat? He's playing you guys like a fiddle.

He's getting attention - the Ego is getting stroked - he has not officially even put his name in the ring (the hat ...etc) I find it humorous and scary at the same time ..... he talks of running for President of The United States - but first let me finish my reality show

As far as ?insults? are concerned, only the trivial Sally ranks supreme in that regard. I said earlier that there is a difference between conservatives in the UK and the US To quote Sally: ?The Tories follow the same economic principals of low or no taxation for the wealthy or corporations? No they do not. According to the NYTimes on April 14: "Other notable differences suggest that even Europe?s most conservative party is markedly to the left of the mainstream Republican position in the United States, and in some ways is more liberal than the position Mr. Obama has taken. To strike a political balance, the coalition government led by Prime Minister David Cameron of the Conservative Party, Mr. Osborne ? himself a Conservative ? has retained a 50 percent income tax rate on the wealthiest individuals. That is among the highest in Europe, and it imposes more of a burden on the rich than anything Mr. Obama or anyone else in Washington would find politically feasible.? To suggest that republicans/conservatives in the US are the same as those in the UK is highly inaccurate

I only caught the bit about "we should "take" the oil" We need alternative energy... we wouldn't be in the big oil dependency situation we are now, and like a broken record... we have known this for at least 40 years, so we have no one to blame but ourselves... This country doesn't even have decent mass transportation either!! OK, that's my 2ยข... I'll go and leave you all to duke it out... be kind to each other OK... we only have each other... Hey, maybe there will be some big diversion next week... LOL that island in the middle of nowhere is looking better and better...

I'm not a fan of any "reality shows" (his included). To me they are all one BIG waste of time... is a light at the other end of the tunnel emerging??? the one thing about Trump is he has a business background. He understand numbers and he ran a crew. When leading a country you should know what your doing. I not sure where Obama experiences has come from. Being a public servant and in politics. You lean how to snooze people but that going to get your foot in the door after that you better understand economics and how to get people to do what you want. Obama's a great speech maker but Americans have had enough of empty promises. I think Trump would have a chance as crazy as that seems if he runs against Obama. However I think Trump is combative and a few chapter 11's but that can be explained away I sure. I betting he got a lot of enemy's and I wonder too about his wife. There a story that will unfold I sure to be seedy. if I were a journalist I'd be check her out. I suspect they'll save that until he announced and is just about to the goal post and bam out comes the sex tapes or worst yet..She looks like she would date rich Arab arm dealers...for a price :

in the interests of accuracy, this thread should be turned into the american political thread. considering the shocking inbalance and wars/poverty e.t.c actually going on in the world american politics does seem rather trivial and boring to an outsider. fair play to those who are taking part in this debate ,im pretty sure the issues are important to them. but it would be nice if we could have a sideshow for the tedious american stuff... anyway, lets talk about sentances handed out by judges. in the uk recently. a father takes his two boys to mcdonalds for dinner.the boys are 9 and 7 years old.they go to the toilet and are both raped by a sick disgusting pedophile. the boys take a year to actually tell their parents what really happened. the sick pedo is eventually tracked down and caught. his sentance?......7 fucking years.!!!![he will serve 3 and a half] i hope the judge that gives out such punishment dies a horrible slow painful death.

There's a TV Court show here featuring a judge named Maria Lopez. Her claim to fame while sitting on the bench in real cases before the TV show???? Well here it is: Right in my home state of Massachusetts, a man assaulted a young boy by forcing him to commit sexual acts while holding a screw driver to the kid's neck. His sentence was 6 months confined to his house while wearing a bracelett...The judge's rationale - the guy was transgendered and had his (soon to be 'her') own emotional issues. So if any ever watches this show and praises 'how cool' they think this sassy talking judge is, remember that

LazyD, with all-due respect: There is a scary climate of racism that the U.S. hasn't had in a few decades, and the election of Obama has re-ignited it. He is receiving a record-number of death threats. And I am convinced that the b.s. hate-speech from conservative pundits are fanning the flames via subliminal, dog-whistle politics. So, our debates are not as trivial as it appears on the surface. And what happened to the father/sons in your country -- as bad as it is -- is a universal problem. I just don't get how even a criminal mind could hurt a child.
-
With all due respect, this is a political thread ... Racism and/or hate speech is not allowed anywhere on this board. I am sorry to hear a relative few may take such a low road (outside this board) ... Audi, I do not think your concerns apply to anyone in this thread or this community. If you strongly believe the opposite and can prove such allegations, the monitors will move quickly (if they haven't already nipped such activity in the bud). Peace - let reasonable, and responsible free speech continue
-
Absolutely, I agree. I have not encountered such bigoted views here. My two oldest buddies are card-carrying Tea Partiers. It's such a pity, however, that so much crap from the nut-cases is tolerated, ignored and -- sometimes -- encouraged by the moderate conservatives.
