The ..2012.... Political thread

Hay you're the one who wrote: "Earth to Mustang Sally...Earth to Mustang Sally..." that was insulting and offensive in a way, which later you laid on her, that she had insulted you. More troops killed--How is that Obama's fault, he didn't start that war, George W. did. Obama assured 33,000 troops will be removed fairly soon, by the end of this year? or the end of next year? Granted I wish he'd ended it sooner, but he didn't start it. I suppose it was too complex to end in a hurry. Too many ramifications.

Exactly Suzy, bush invaded both Iraq and Afghanistan and then left Afghanistan to languish (where OBL and Al Quada actually were) to focus on Iraq where no one who was involved with 9/11 was ) : So Obama had to try to get us out of Iraq responsibly...after we had destroyed the entire country and to try refocus on Afghanistan where OBL and Al Quada had strength. I think he's done a remarkable job given the mess that was left. Anyone who tries to defend bush policies just makes themselves look even more stupid in the eyes of the whole world.

Some simple math: 38,000 troops in Afganistan at the start of President Obama's term. Currently there are 100,000 troops in Afganistan ... hmmm He (the President) proposed/promised a 33,000 troop reduction by the end of this year or by the end of next year ... ok that reduction will be in 6 or 18 months (per your input above) ... hmmm So under President Obama's leadership there has been an increase of 62,000 U.S. troops in Afganistan. The proposed troop reduction "... by the end of this year? or the end of next year..." will still be almost half of his increase of troops during his Presidency thus far. I thought a great deal of people voted for him to get the U.S. out of all foreign wars (did they not???) Stop blaming Bush that's silly
-
It seems silly to say 'stop blaming Bush' given he's the one who started these wars. The Pentagon must have worked on O. and persuaded O. that an increase in troops would end the war faster, that's what they thought and hoped, but the fighting from insurgents or the "enemy" grew more vicious and escalated and they too managed to come up with many more fighters. Maybe that's what happened, the strategy backfired?
-
Blame the Pentagon Blame Bush Blame Republicans Blame Independents Blame ??? Ummm ... but, never blame a Democrat ... that's laughable increase of 62,000 U.S. troops in Afganistan Who is in charge??
-
"All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy." Wayne Dyer

Foreign Wars U.S. Air Force and Navy still flying hundreds of strike missions over Libya Air Force and Navy aircraft are still flying hundreds of strike missions over Libya despite the Obama administration?s claim that American forces are playing only a limited support role in the NATO operation. 3,475 sorties = very limited??? http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2011/06/defense-africom-air-force-navy-flying-libya-missions-063011/

Are you better off now than (2,3) 4 years ago? Or .... Could you take 4 more years of the way things are going?

Obama came into office facing all sorts of seemingly insurmountable problems, disasters and crises which had been fostered upon us by the blundering, destructive administration of George W. Bush. I've heard and read that in many sources, and observed all the damage. I read (in here, I think, and from other sources) a long list of Obama's accomplishments since he's been in office-- even while bearing that massively daunting albatross. The GOP won't let O. do some of the progressive things he wants to achieve, it is being a hindrance, but he's working on it. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Tuesday, Jul 05 2011 Horrific fate of British soldier By Tim Shipman and David Williams ... It was the first kidnap of a British soldier in the conflict. His disappearance in an area riddled with insurgents and Improvised Explosive Devices sparked a 12-hour search with hundreds of troops and vehicles and all available helicopters. ... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2011059/Missing-British-soldier-executed-Taliban-snatched-shot-head.html#

Well at least Obama knew what country was the enemy. Unlike Bush.

Bush knew, too. However, it was more profitable and personally satisfying to invade Iraq. The entire Iraq War was a Dick Chaney Production.

Amen!! Let start the thread in a more positive direction. Blaming does nothing if justice isn't going to be served. Which is doesn't look like it going to be with the current bunch we got in office. How many for Term Limits? I think this will solve a lot of problems plus we need public funded election. A billion dollars needed to run for President? Let people who really care and can run a rail road have a crack. Get big money out of it. Also a third party system.

I was just in Alaska where Palin is hated and I see where she is peddling a documentary about herself. They are not showing in in Alaska???? Because they don't want reality checked.

I think that Warren Buffet did his very best to explain the dilemma, but the people who should have listened, are not listening. We have allowed the super rich to become so very rich, that they have no interest or desire to invest in anyone's works. It would be nice if working people had more money to invest in other people's works. Isn't it the collective work and buying power of working people that makes for a thriving economy? http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/71836,business,tax-the-rich-says-billionaire-warren-buffett-

when you look at how the education system has its changed in the last decade. It reflects what going on in the job force today and people ability to take care of themselves.. We have gotten away from teaching kids skill building that makes a person self sufficient and able to get work without a 4 year degree which depending on the degree will have a 100 people for every job. We've outsourced so many of are labor jobs and stop teaching kids those kind of skills anymore. My generation had class for shop and auto repair, . Most guys from my generation can fix a car even with today's technology or remodel a home or fix stuff without hiring it out. Boys today don't even know how to change the oil on their cars. . They don't even teach kid how to fill out their taxes on Quickens. Things that a kid can use in there everyday lives. If kids had a more useful skill's they could survive better in today job climate. I know kids with mathematics degrees working as bank tellers .. 80,000 degree to earn minimum wage. My friend son just got a CPA degree and he is being offered 38,000. That degree used to start at 100,000+ A kid who knows how to remodel a house could earn twice that much. My friend was really disappointed her son didn't want to go to school.. Her daughter did and she living at home, unemployed. Her son works as a captain of a tour boat now and was asked may of time to go up north to fish. I people general are becoming way to dependent on government handout. If people could not get food stamps guess how fast they be sweeping floors.

I've said that in the past!

But isn't free handouts the basis to liberal philosophy?

No I think everyone is for cuts.. Stop all war funding today. Cut all gov employees benefits. let them pay there own health care. Cut all grants or any business that uses grants has to pay in a percentage back to the government from their profits so the government profit shares. I'm for going back retro and making business like DuPont who has benefited greatly from the space program, profit share with the Tax payers. Our money help their research. I for cutting all tax breaks for the rich. Someone got to pay taxes we all got to pay our fair share. So if you making over so many million you tax rate is 50%. I'm for slashing all retirement programs of all government employees. Especially cops. They pay part of their salary into their own retirement plan like we do. When it runs out than they live off their Social security like we do. I for passing laws forcing elected officials to have to cut government wages when the economy dips. If the people on the street are unemployed than so should the government workers. Also if you are worth so much assets. You should not get SS until you have used them up. Why is a millionaire getting SS benefits. Also there should be a cap on marriages. If a guy been married more than 2 times the wives cannot collect on his SS. Hoow many old guy knowing their dying marry some waitress so they can screw the government. I think there should be government controlled health care. I also think their is too many tax breaks. Now you can sell a house over and over and pay no tax on the gain. It used to be you could sell one time and pay no taxes or roll your profits over into another house for one dollar more. some people just build homes ever 2 years and sell and pocket tax free money. Here is the problem. We giving too many tax breaks for some and for others their paying way more than what is fair.
