The ..2012.... Political thread

A street talking Vice President does not help the reputation of his office, that of his boss, or that of our country
-
Well, whom do you want to win the Presidency next time, Andy, Mitt Romney, Rick Perry? Who? And why him? I'll leave out Bachmann and Palin (and hope everybody else does, too).
-
Maybe we ought to do away with "winning the Presidency". It doesn't work out so well when certain people think that "they won the Presidency". Maybe we need to institute The Presidency like a summons for Jury Duty or like instituting The Draft in a life threatening, involuntary and inconvenient way so that nobody will actually want to be The President, rule the world, let alone be anywhere near The White House.

trump is the flim flam man of luxury hotels...he's been on vacation since the day he was born...
and obama is the Great Seducer...so what's your point. I would rather have someone running this country who has been able to stay afloat by making it too expensive to allow him to go bankrupt (essentially what the US has been able to pull of for so long), than a good lookin' fool who knows how to impress mom and dad, but has never had his hands in someone's drawers.

Most folk GET that...it's just Obama hadn't been Senator long enough to understand THAT office, so obviously he doesn't understand the Presidency. Otherwise he would never had make his stupid statement about SUMMONING the houses of Congress (BOTH of which form a CO-EQUAL branch of government to the Executive.)

You lot aren't being of any help in understanding what went down at the GOP debate last night and Obama's speech tonight. Did you not grasp much or any of it, yourselves?

U.S. Boots on the Ground in Libya, Pentagon Confirms By Justin Fishel September 12, 2011 Despite repeated assurances from President Obama and military leaders that the U.S. would not send uniformed military personnel into Libya, four U.S. service members arrived on the ground in Tripoli over the weekend. ... http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/09/12/us-boots-on-ground-in-libya-pentagon-confirms/

Read that something was said in the GOP debate tonight along these lines, that if you don't have health insurance and are in extremity they should just "let you die." Some face book wags then posited the GOP wanna be Prez lineup is downright "evil" and "filthy minded." Are the GOP presidential hopefulls really that bad? Heard and read some bad things about Texas Gov. Rick Perry, for example. Alarming. Is he really that bad? The flip side you also hear is No, they're the ones who are "good" ! So--which is true? Are they good American politicians or bad, even evil? Or is it really the progressive Democrat pols who are dodgy, nefarious? How can being progressive seeking beneficial changes to society, helping the less fortunate, for example, be considered evil?
-
"FOUR uniformed military arrived on the ground in Libya"--wow, that's quite an invasion, quite a hostile indication of waging warfare, isn't it. Four. :

So ... I wondered what Bobo's Campaign Slogan would be for 2012. Today I saw, "Keep the Change." WHAT change? Did anything change? Better or worse? Sure looked like four years of the same old shït to me.
-
Someone here, might have been Mustang Sally, printed a long list of his achievements in office--I think it's on this thread somewhere. So he has done some things. The $447 million stimulus package he's trying to get through is a biggie--except I read that's just "politics" wanting to make the GOP look bad for not letting it pass, which is expected He did say he's trying to get unemployment benefits extended to one year instead of six months, do you think that will fly?

Surely there has been, for the worse, but that's change anyway, so no lie.

He could add less to hope - reflecting what the people out there feel. I always thought that hope and change was like a Mad-lib. Where there would be a short story with blanks _____. Asking for a noun, verb, adjective, adverb ... etc.. People who were trying to convince others which way to vote would talk of the things that Candidate Obama (At the time) was going to do .... without it really ever said by the Candidate. Hope and change to President Obama could mean .... I hope to play a lot of golf and change golf courses often. I saw it once ..... and I know not where ..... they had the Presidential Candidates back to the Eisenhower days and many of them in their campaign for the office ..... said "Change."

The thing is that kind of slogans "work". So they're used... I'm detecting some very strange thing. Spanish elections are on next Nov 20th. And there's no big promises but the ugly truth. They're saying what they're really gonna do. "We're gonna cut social spending, we're not gonna tax the rich", etc. And guess this is the point when it seems they know they're gonna be voted no matter what they do and also no matter what they say, so why lying?. Maybe this spreads there, as the "yes we can" did. Like "we're not gonna change a thing, we're gonna give money to the too big to fail and pretty much forget about the rest" and anyway they will be voted.

thought you might want some correct information Andy ..... 1) gwbush pushed for the Solyndra deal for years before Obama even took office and loan was guaranteed in 2009. When Obama took office he had new provisions inserted to protect the taxpayers http://www.grist.org/solar-power/2011-09-13-bush-admin-pushed-solyndra-loan-guarantee-for-two-years 2) according to your article Paul Kaiser was an investor in Solyndra...not so the investor was The Kaiser Foundation ...a non profit and company went under because of the economic crisis. you can't believe all you read from the corporatist media...must do your own research. Cut and paste doesn't cut it anymore
