The ..2012.... Political thread
-
while in college I met a female student cheating the system - receiving food stamps. i could not convince her that was wrong ... btw she was "white"
-
I assume she lived on campus -- that would DEFINITELY be cheating the system, given that most on-campus students' meals are included in the tuition. That's how it was for me, but I went to a private Christian college. An off-campus student, working part-time, who is receiving aid doesn't sound so shady to me, though.
-
She lived on campus I forget the detail she did have to fudge the truth somehow ... Anyway, not studying every word within context Newt ever said ... I doubt he ment or implyed "most blacks" re. foodstamps. He might have mis-spoken which the President has certainly also done when not using a teleprompter.
-
They call it dog-whistle politics for a reason.

I'm not sure but Clinton changed a lot of the social programs and put a 2 year limit on food stamps and welfare. This stopped people from having kids so they can get food stamps and generations from making it a life style. All good programs get abused. Its the same greed factor that we have to regulate. Which is why now we have no choice but to rethink if we can afford it. We shipped jobs over seas. So less workers. Most don't make a livable wage. We don't make the rich pay taxes and we open are door to every country to dump their poor on us. Canada and many other countries require you to have money like 100,000 to come to their country. You don't show up suit case in hand. We also allowed millions of illegals immunity once, now their back with their whole family pulling the same poor me. I sure its different everywhere but I live pretty far NW and you see only Hispanic collecting food stamps and free medical and a few really young mothers. No one checking papers to see if their illegal. They don't speak a word of English and some look like their from central or south America. Growth as always been the answer to keep the economy rolling.. It not the answer. What jobs we haven't shipped over seas we allowed them to come here and take. Apple's cash on hand, 95 billions. Yet they couldn't hire American and pay a livable wage? What about the human rights abuse. Child labor abuse and the suicide of Apples workers is so high they have nets to catch people from throwing themselves out windows..

I agree with much of your point. Clinton's welfare-to-work program was smart legislation. NAFTA, although well-intentioned, has cost a LOT of American jobs. And welfare/food stamps for illegal aliens does not make sense.
-
NAFTA merely legitimized what had already been going on for 20+ years.

It not anything that in the long run is good for the American worker. The Rep love it because in the future they will have a excuse to do away with it or to blame the dem. Here the other tax there not telling us there planning to off set this loss. There going to add 15 dollars a month to peoples home loans. So they be getting another 9500 from you.. We've got to stop putting the burden on the responsible people.

I disagree with you on one point - under funding is loved by the "Rep". I myself, have never been in favor of that. I don't know anyone who favors messing w/ S.S. Then again, I've revealed (in so believing) that I'm not rich like the Pres and most other Washington, DC politicals

February 07, 2012 Obama's Rolling In It Well, he's done it again. Barack Obama has taken a promise he made about his use of campaign money and dropped kicked it as far away as possible. In 2008, Obama pledged to use public financing for his presidential campaign as a way to limit the influence of big money in the election. That pledge lasted about 5 minutes ... http://monicamemo.typepad.com/weblog/

Here's another example that we still have an ugly race-problem in America: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-prep-rally/pittsburgh-basketball-game-marred-horrible-racist-banana-suited-131740578.html Shameful. As much progress as we've made...as intellectually competitive as we are...as socially mainstream as we have become...we still get taunted and get called...monkeys. :

There's a lot of that hate stuff going around...I saw a story on the news today about a hate crime in Atlanta...apparently a bunch of homophobic gang members beat up an alleged homosexual...then posted the beating on a website that is intended to host videos related to fighting

"people are the same...wherever you go" ~ Paul What a beautiful thought to see, eh?
-
It appears that Obama finds the Constitution to be something of a toilet so he can piss on it with his anti religious babble talk...November can't come soon enough
-
Can't wait hope it's Romney or Gingrich or Santorum
-
Is Hollywood casting for a Three Stooges project or something, mustangsally10?
-
I don't understand rich's vicious scathing Obama comment he made about Obama peeing on the Constitution with "anti-religious babble"--does anybody know what he was talking about? I'm real sorry about what you posted, audi--people who think like that aren't worth bothering with, consider where it came from. "Consider the source" yeah, that's what they say. And that should make you feel better. They're beneath contempt. Those spewing "monkey talk" and similar outrages.

And...? If it were the other way around, Bush's Secret Service would be ordered to let the guy roam freely.
