@njr My friend has her grandkids in from Vegas & they are worried that their flight will be cancelled on Friday because it's also Southwest.
I didn't know Jen was here. Too bad her flight was cancelled.Yeah, her parents and sister’s family live near Chicago, so she was there for Christmas. She’s on the road now and hopefully won’t have a problem getting home.
I’m glad I never need to fly Southwest since I live near Atlanta which is Delta’s hub to everywhere!Yep, I knew her parents live up here.
She texted me she finally made it home - took 10 hours! (normally it is a 7 hr. 20 min. drive) She had cut off the water to her house and had a friend checking on things, but she still ended up with a busted pipe. She would have been better off to leave the water on and drip all the faucets! That’s what I did and no problems. She said she’s got a plumber coming on Friday.
Our weather warmed up nicely - just needed a light jacket at first (went to grocery store and it’s always freezing in there) High was 64. It’s 44 now at 12:40 am. -

@oobu24 I have a styrofoam thing that fits over the outside faucet to protect it.
Let me know if it worked.

@njr Yes, CA!
-
@njr Yes, I use it every year & have had no problems.

That’s good! It’s usually not cold enough in Atlanta to worry about the outside spigots. This was the longest period of below freezing (mostly at night) that I can ever recall us having for 6 days/nights, and I’ve lived here near Atlanta since 1973!
-
New Year's Eve day it's 43. Finally stopped raining.

High of 57° today and cloudy! Glad we’re out of the deep freeze here. Followed by rain and fog yesterday. It’s going down to 41°

Monday’s high in Atlanta is going to be 66, low 57 and cloudy.
Today was sunny, high 66. Low tonight 47. -
We got over 5 inches of rain in less than 24 hours on Saturday, with more coming today and later this week. Boy, talk about extremes, we go from having no rain at all to now getting rains that are flooding things! I'm not complaining about the rain mind you, we need it and much more, but hopefully no more flooding rains!
-
@euan-b Gosh, that's a lot!
Seems quite a few places are dealing with "extreme" weather. -
Rainy, humid and 66. More rain tomorrow and 67.
-
We are finally having a break from the rain! We needed rain, but wow, that was just too much at once. We got 6 months worth of rain in 2.5 weeks!
-
I never imagined I'd say this after moving to Hilo -- literally the rainiest city in America -- but we could use a bit of California's recent rain. We've had nothing but a couple of brief showers in nearly a month, and the whole state is officially designated as unusually dry, according to official U.S. Drought Monitor, with nearly half -- including Hilo -- rated as being in moderate drought or worse. But it sure was pretty out today.
-
It was gorgeous near Atlanta today where I live: Sunny, blue skies and high of 71!
-
WE've been getting some rain, nothing like you paulfan, but mostly just gray, cloudy days. I don't think the sun was out all week.
-
@oobu24 It's been so nice to see the sun the past few days! Same with my dad in MI, lots of rain and not much snow this winter (except for the storm that came in right before Christmas) and milder temperatures. There have been days when temps in MI have been about what we were out here!
-
@paulfan11 Willy is mad about the sun not being out. He usually moves from the upstairs sliding glass doors to the ones on the lower level as the sun passes. Another gray day today.

I hope everyone knows Willy is a dog!
-
@oobu24 Aww poor Willy! I hope you all see some sun soon!
-
High of 13 today. Brrrrrr
