Milan Baros is not in the Czech lineup due to injury. On paper, this looks to be a classic. The Czech are ranked second by FIFA, USA ranked fifth. But I personally think the FIFA rankings are a crock as they include friendly results as part of the equation. In no particular order, Brazil, Argentina, England, Holland, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Ukraine, Portugal... I'd rate them higher than the U.S. So a #5 ranking... I wouldn't play on that too much. The Czechs were probably the class of EURO2004 and, imo, only lost to Greece in the semis because Nedved had to go off injured after about 15 minutes. The Chelsea keeper Petr Cech is likely the world's number one. I'm hoping like hell for the US to win, but I'll be satisfied with a draw. A loss will likely put them out since they have to play Italy next.

And away we go!

We may not be best friends with the Czechs, but I support our southern neighbours' team today! Forza Chech Republic! (it's a real shame they didn't win Europe's Cup two years ago!)

The Polish team have issued an official letter of apology to the Polish fans expressing their regret at their style and play during last match against Ecuador! :

The USA need a Killer

This time I can rely on the "goal-o-meter" which consists of 2 boys that live in the flat across mine. They really celebrated the first goal. At first I wondered because I didn't know that any Czech people lived in my house, but then I heard them making nasty remarks about the USA, so I guess, the US is as unpopular as my own country in the world of football.

Well, it just goes to show that we're culturally more diverse than most people think. On the other hand, I think that only Klose was born in Poland, also Polish sounding names can be misleading. I myself have a Polish sounding surname but my family has been here for centuries.

36' Spectacular right foot blast from some 30-35yds by Rosicky flies past Keller diving left and into the right corner of the net Czech Rep 2-0
