On the other hand; Portugal has no forward (Pauleta
: Come on, he`s a joke...), and Germany (with all the enthusiasm from its public) is motivated as fuck...

I think other team players should be on this team... for example the goal keepers chosen were great but "Van der sar" of Holland was great too...only 1 goal on him but the team didnt continue on finals... also "Messi" from Argentine and "Lampard" from England and many others..

It's been a loooong time since Germany's played in the 3rd Place game. 1970 was the last, I believe. In 1978, after drawing with Italy and Holland, West Germany's last match was against Austria. A win may have seen them play in the 3rd Place Playoff game. (They had no chance of playing in the Final as Italy and Holland met up the same day with the winner guaranteed a spot in the Final) The Germans ended up losing to Austria 2-3 and it was rumored afterwards that Helmut Schoen, the West German coach, didn't want to be bothered with the 3rd Place Game and thus didn't take the Austria game too seriously. (It meant A LOT to Austria as it was Austria's first win over Germany in over 40 years!) So on the one hand, I think Michelle makes an interesting point about the Germans not being motivated. Given their successful history, they may regard the Portugal match as a waste of time. On the other hand, their home supporters may give them motivation once they're out on the pitch.

Lampard?
If the list was for the "23-man Missed A Golden Opportunity To Score" squad, I'd give Lampard the captain's arm band. With the number of times he skied his shots high over goal with the net beckoning, I wonder if he was trying to score goals or if he was trying to bring rain.

Well, here in austria we have access to german tv/media; so I can assure you: they are taking this game serious and they are motivated
... I think we`ll be watching them (attempting to) destroy Portugal on saturday, at least that`s the picture you`d get when you`re observing german media at the moment, like I do!

I noticed that Oli Kahn will be in goal against Portugal. A thankyou/farewell gift, I suppose.

You think Lampard had a better tournament that Ballack?

I think so, too- The Germans are motivated and will do everything to try and beat Portugal. 3-1 is my tip.

France/Brasil was a beautiful game! Very friendly, peaceful, fair, this was great from both sides! THAT was real sport! Well this is my opinion.
-
WEll, it was beautiful because Brasil was dead. BTW It is rare to see a Brazilian player involved with fights, it happens, but not like Argentinians.
-
My predictions: Germany - Portugal 2-1 Italy - France 3-2 Unfortunately, I could not reach Pawel by phone today, so I couldn't get his predictions this time. I hope he'll be back home before the final tomorrow, though!
-
Germany 2-1 Portugal Italy 1-1 France Italy wins on penalties.
