is the valencia kit...pink...?
Barcelona played Sevilla, and yes they wore their pink kit, which is their third kit behind the home white and road red. No idea why they chose to wear it as their home white doesn't clash with Barca's kit at all. We made jokes about the pink kit earlier on Big Soccer. Started when we were discussing Barcelona's progression of the away kit and then it continued on the next couple of pages when we found out Sevilla's new kits for this season. And, of course, it came up again during yesterday's match thread.

Great line in the Sunday Mirror about Avram Grant (Chelsea's new manager) who was apparently known during his days as technical director at Portsmouth as "the man from the BBC - Balls, Bibs and Cones" or "Coneman the Barbarian".

"money, money, money, money, money, money, money..." I had never seen a team in pink. They could even more original like dressing kind of Sgt. Pepper's for instance. http://andyleewhite.com/images/sgt.bmp Or multi coloured... or with signs on it like stars or whatever...

21st Century Paul:
I had never seen a team in pink.
Palermo is Serie A wear pink. Not as neon-colored as Sevilla strip, though. And Juventus wore it a few years back for their 100th anniversary because that was their original kit color.

You just know Mourinho is loving what he sees going on at Stamford Bridge. C'mon, Joe-Say. give us a big smile now... C'mon, just one little grin... Ah, and a reminder to boot.

On Thursday on Spain we couldn't see Madrid vs Betis, due to the media war about Spanish League. On Wednesday Barcelona did their best match of the season. Pure showtime. Messi was starring but Iniesta did things like Messi, and fab passes and shoots and defense... he's got it all. I don't know who's gonna play when Etoo and Ronie get back... There's a strong rumour of Ronie signing with Chelsea for "only" 20 milions due to a certain FIFA article... Also it seems there's a kind of reboot in Chelsea as some players want to leave, especially Lampard and the portuguese ones. Lampard is 29 but sure all the big teams will go for them... As for Madrid, same old story, they couldn't break the defense since the same old guy, Raul, got in, a penalty, and a goal. Afterwards Baptista did a fab bycicle goal. Real Madrid played a lot better with Robinho and Robben as wings, after a lot of weird Schuster's different tactics. The good one is the one I tried in FIFA07 doing a simulation long time ago. Robben, left wing, Robinho, Right wing, Guti or Sneijder offensive midfielder, Raul and Van N. strikers and Diarra or Sneijder, defensive midfielder. And four defenders and Casillas! Heinze, Cannavaro, Metzelder and S. Ramos. Today Levante vs Madrid, and is almost sure to be for free, open TV, etc. And everyone looking at how Raul will score this time.... My fav XI now ------------Raul-------------- Messi-----Kaka--C.Ronaldo Lampard-Pirlo---Iniesta---- Puyol--Cannavaro--Alves- --------Casillas-------------

Big show yesterday from the Barça team. 3-0 Against Atletico de Madrid. But I have to say that Atletico didn't placed the defense near the goalkeeper, and that's almost always a match lost against with Barça, as it was. Iniesta starred as defensive midfielder. Even sometimes reminded Baresi. He can play a la Baresi, Messi, Ronaldinho, Lampard... if he's not the best in the world at least he's the more complete player. It's seems weird but someone from this town can be the best in the world in something. Though he's not born here at all. He started living here some time ago (2 years?). He was born and raised in the south of Spain till Barça signed him when he was 12 or so because he was the best in the tournament of players of that age on TV, then he was "Andres". Pro players have voted the Best player of the past season 2006-2007. Half of the 48000 players of the FIFPro association voted. Kaka was the winner and this is the choosen XI. http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/7302406?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=2741 -------------Buffon------------- Puyol-Cannavaro-Terry-Nesta C.Ronaldo--Gerrard--Kaka--- Messi-----Drogba--Ronaldinho PS. Real Madrid continues winning.... not very much show... but at least they play with 4 forwards, they try.

Hey 21C Paul, what do you make of Spain's squad list? With the team being hit by a few injuries, it's nice to see Espanyol get some players into the team selection (I really like Tamudo) but I'm curious about Albert Reira selected ahead of Mikel Arteta. I think Reira is more of a winger, which is fine, but it almost confirms that Arteta will never get a chance under Aragones. And it sounds like Raul has no hope of ever playing again as long as Aragones remains in charge. Big game against Denmark.

The Aragones-Raul seems to be a personal affair... I think Trezeguet and Del Piero are in kind of the same situation. Something about Raul not accepting to be not in the starting XI in some match or so. It seems that no matter if all the forwards get injured... anyone but Raul. Riera... I really don't know him much... but of course I know Tamudo, one of the player that could have played in the team since a lot time ago. Arteta? mmm... well... the problem is that he plays in the position that's best covered by far.... just think.... Iniesta, Xavi, Xavi Alonso, Cesc... if he doesn't play better than the 4 above.... what's the use of bringing him to the team if he's never going to play?... Aragones is very upset and unpredictable now... he's the most reputed coach in Spain, and Raul the most reputed player... so something doesn't make sense here... maybe is something about Guti, Raul friend that never's on Spain team. For Aragones is very important the performance of the player into the national team not the performance of the player on the league. So he has got kind of some favs because in his opinion they always play well with Spain. Marchena, Albelda, for instance... Aragones faced Romario, Etoo and all kind of stars when he was at a club, so he's gonna face whoever if he thinks he should not play. Big match for Denmark too. They had a similar affair with their coach Morten Olsen and their best player ever, Michael Laudrup. Laudrup was out of some Euro Cup because Morten Olsen decided it... and Denmark won the Cup, so... you never know...

The way I uinderstand it, it all goes back to the World Cup. Here's the article I read. http://www.goal.com/en-us/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=441008

Good week for Spain. Gained a tough win in Denmark while Northern Ireland dropped more points in Sweden. Spain can now book their ticket to the EUROs by either defeating Sweden in their next game, or if the Northern Ireland-Denmark clash ends level. Both matches are scheduled for 17 November. Riera scored on his debut! Also looked good in the friendly against Finland. Meanwhile for England... tsk tsk. It's out of their hands now. I guess Germany is the only country to have qualified so far, besides the two hosts.
