Bayern München became champion yesterday too. Lahm said "it's very probable I leave Bayern this year"... where? hmm... Saying Bayern is saying Beckenbauer. "The Kaiser", the man that's the football itself, as a player champion of everything: Bundesliga, World Cup, Champions League, Golden Ball.... as a trainer too, World Cup and now as president of a team... The best player ever for Johan Cruyff, and the best defender ever for everyone, I guess. Someone with the attacking skills similar to Zidane and defensive skills similar to Baresi. Beckenbauer
Beckenbauer against Cruyff And that #4 became the utopic example of a defender of defensive midfielder that could play the ball as well as the best attacking players to begin the game much better for the team. Still the search persist, Cruyff tried it a lot in Barça, a school for #4s (Guardiola, Iniesta, Milla, Cesc Fabregas, Crosas, Arteta, Xavi, Celades, etc.). -
At least the pasillo won't be at Camp Nou. In 1991 after the "Dream Team" won their first championship with Cruyff as manager, Real Madrid gave Barcelona a pasillo in the Bernabeu!

Intheskywithdiamonds PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray that Man U win next weekend - I really don't want Chelsea to win the premiership. And good luck in the Champions game. Gotta beat them. Chelsea are going down, down, down............... I heard today that Chelsea have been unbeaten for 19 games??!!

Beckenbauer and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have said that Lahm will play out his contract next season and then leave in 2009. There's been talk since February of Lahm coming to Barcelona, but now del Nido is in discussions with Barcelona for the transfer of Dani Alves. I think Lahm will end up at either Barcelona or Manchester United.

Is that the Dream Team where you can pick your own players from real teams in the league? If so, I started with a mixture of players but lost interest as you have to keep transferring players and keep up with each "real" team that you select players from. Good fun though.

You're talking about fantasy football. Do you play the one on the Premier League's website? I do, although I haven't paid much attention to it recently. I'm getting destroyed in one league but doing okay in the MySpace league. The "Dream Team" - in football terms - often refers to the Barcelona team from the early 1990s, when Johan Cruyff was the coach. They won 11 trophies during Cryuff's eight season spell at the club, including 4 Spanish League titles on the trot as well as the old European Cup Winners Cup (1989) and their first ever European Cup in 1992. The name "Dream Team" was taken from the USA basketball team that competed at the 1992 Olympic Games held in Barcelona. Hence, the nickname used to describe the Barcelona football team.
-
Yes, that was the "Dream Team". A catalonian TV speaker said that words while Barça playing the Intercontinental cup passing round the ball veery well. "This Barça is a Dream Team" Kind of the "Galacticos", created for the AS newspaper about Real Madrid of the Golden Ball players. Some players were "upgraded" to "Galacticos" by the people, like Casillas and Roberto Carlos. The Galacticos were Raul, Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckham, Roberto Carlos and Casillas. And they all had the same salary. Recently, when Barça signed Henry, himself, Messi, Ronaldinho and Etoo were nicknamed the "Fantasticos", The Fantastic Four, but that didn't last long.

Now, things are getting hilarious here. A lot of people are sending SMS to mobiles asking people to turn off the TVs when the pasillo/corridor/guard of honour starts. The thing is not conceived as a humiliation but as a tribute or recognition to the champion.

It's a humiliation for the Barca players and their fans to do it for Real Madrid but the players deserve to be put in that situation since they failed to perform this season. What I would like to see is the players doing the pasillo as their punishment for not performing up to standards, but they should wear white or a solid color shirt and not the club shirt so that the Blaugrana shirt and club logo are spared the humiliation of bowing down to the hated Blancos rivals.

Yes it was the fantasy football i was thinking of Thanks! I started playing the premier league one through the Daily Mirror newspaper. It was good fun but i lost interest as discovered that need to transfer players and keep an eye on all teams that picked players from. I picked players from teams that i thought would have a good season like Newcastle, Middlesborough, Everton...... Maybe next season.

Barça can not wear white in his shirt, not even a tiny part of it. It was proposed long ago to have a tiny white space on the third shirt, and it was refused cause is a Real Madrid reminder. so much ado about the corridor, and the real guard of honour has been the match itself, ("humiliation" is right now the word now on Barça local sport newspapers) Real Madrid 4-Barça 1 Rijkaard has made all kind of strange faces today... 99% possible this is his last match as Barça's coach. I've never seen any Barça as bad as this in the Bernabeu. Diarra even runned and drible as if he was Robinho, and he has not done that in the whole season . The good thing for Barça is that this has been so remarkably bad that it gives more reasons to clear the team bravely. If the game with Manchester was this Barça's Waterloo, this has been the Epilogue. First goal, opening the defence, the same kind of goal, made by the same player. Okey, not going to the national team. But I think he should be Golden Ball and FIFA world player this year. MY ideal XI of this League ...............Casillas.............. Ramos...Pepe...Puyol..Alves ................Diarra.............. .Messi.......Iniesta.......Pires. ................RAUL.............. With Raul as MVP, and some other player at the attack with Raul... Van Nistelrooy, Nihat, Aguero, Villa, Bojan, Luis Fabiano... I'm sorry for the Barça supporters, cause no-one deserves this.

Disgusting, heartless, gutless, pitiful... At times I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I only thank God Real won the title on Sunday because watching them celebrate would've been too much. The ref was horrible favoring RM throughout (nothing new there) but even a decent official wouldn't have helped Barcelona tonight. Eto'o and Deco need to go for missing out on this game. And people are already calling for Rijkaard to be let go with immediate affect. Pep Guardiola is NOT the answer, imo, but he's the one the team will be announcing as the new coach once the season ends. Btw, first time since 1983/84 that Real beat Barca in both games of the season. That was the last season for Menotti and Maradona.

Of course Raul is my pick. No-one decides matches at him, not Iniesta or Messi or even Casillas, not Kaka or Cristiano Ronaldo. Well, anyway... Etoo and Deco somehow knew what was gonna happen... I didn't expected it though. Somehow asked me for a possible result "3-0, no wait 4-0" but not that kind of 4-0... This is similar to that 6-0 Barça did to Atletico de Madrid recently. With players doing nothing. How in the heck can Diarra run through the wing?. That's not normal football. Laporta is gonna do something. Maybe another kind of strange signing, like the Henry one. All he needs to do is to be brave, is he fears change Barça is not gonna stay the same, it's gonna be worse every day.

Laporta has comfirmed the rumors by announcing that Pep Guardiola will take over for Rijkaard next season. On the plus side... -- Barcelona are promoting from within, which should always be applauded. -- Pep is a Culé through and through. As such he's aware of what style of play is expected from the club (4-3-3) and what the socios demand, and the players will be made well aware of this. -- His tactics and substitutions should be a marked improvement than what Rijkaard had to offer the past two years. -- What other manager is there available besides Mourinho, whose defensive tactics are against what the club expects from its team? The club is also saving the potential spending of millions it would take to bring in such a coach. On the negative side... -- Inexperience. After spending five seasons in Segunda División B, Barça B were relegated after the 2006/07 campaign. Pep was brought in, promoted them back up, and that's enough to take over a team that won the double of League and Europe two years ago?! -- With Pep having played under Johan Cruyff, the Dutchman's influence at the club will be even greater than it is now. Pep has already drawn up of list of changes he wants to see the club make, including: -- The removal of the 'black sheep' (Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto'o, etc) -- More control of the daily activities of the team, especially during training sessions. Gone will be the players taking off after the morning training session and returning for the afternoon session. He wants the players together throughout the full day of training and being dedicated to their job. He also wants to implement "the Italian method" having more activities of relaxation for the team so they develop a stronger bond with each other. -- Play the attacking style that defined the club during his playing days with the 'Dream Team'. And he's supposedly drawn up a list of players he'd like to keep and those he feels need to go. Those he wants to stay: Valdés, Milito, Márquez, Puyol, Zambrotta, Sylvinho, Abidal, Xavi, Iniesta, Deco, Messi, Bojan and Eto?o, although he would like to have one-on-one discussions with Eto'o and Deco to determine how committed they are to the cause. Those he wants to see leave: Jorquera, Pinto, Thuram, Oleguer, Touré , Edmílson, Gudjohnsen, Ronaldinho, Henry, Giovani, Ezquerro. Seeing Touré Yaya's name on the list raises eyebrows, but since Pep made his playing mark as a defensive midfielder, he more than anyone should know what is needed to succeed at the position. I'm just curious to know who he deems better suited than Yaya. Players he plans on promoting from the youth squad: Víctor Sánchez, Abraham, Jeffren and Pedrito, with Thiago and Gai Assulin playing another season with the youth team before joining up with the senior squad.

Guardiola, the best defensive midfielder I've seen on field, cause I've never seen Beckenbauer, anyway all those long passes from one wing to another were magic. Pep is hell of a cule. He was the brains, heart and soul of the team as a player and captain. He started being one of these guys that pick the balls that go out in the matches, and did all the career in Barça, but he had a strange end , very typical of Barça stars, you know, but he was a "Masia" guy and things should have been different I guess. They know he loves Barça. With Guardiola I can see the team playing only with passes as he did. Though there are a lot more of coaches but it's the easy way, the one that is on the 2nd team and if things go wrong, you know, Guardiola out, like if he was guilty for how things are now (the president is). He uses 3-4-3 in the 2nd team at home. I don't see Barça playing this way, you need to have defenders that are very good with the ball to start the game, like Dream Team used Koeman passes to start the game. If he has the power he will make them train more, but I don't know if that's Cruyff or Laporta's decision really. He wants to stay the ones that usually are in the XI and to go the ones that are not, except for Yaya. Then things are not gonna change much, if the same XI is gonna play anyway.... and if he sticks to that kind of 4-3-3 without wings really. And without crossing, when was the last good crossing made by Barça? . If you play only by the middle, is like if you play only by the left side, easier to defend. And Cruyff is like in the video games, playing with team with no responsability of the results, who's responsible when the coach opinion's is not important and the president's one is guided by someone that's out of the club and can't resign of anything?. Barça wants to fly... but they don't have wings. Real wings, you now Messi's gonna go to the area and never do a crossing. It all started for me when Giuly was out.
