21st Century Paul:
Etoo says he wants to go...
Again, it looks like you've been reading MARCA too much. Eto'o never said he "wants" to leave. On the contrary, he said that he's very happy at Barcelona. But he's a competitor who hates losing, and he said that if Barcelona doesn't win any titles this season or next, he would probably ask the team for a transfer. Either way, it's a stupid comment to make three days before the Champions League semi-final.
-
Etoo still plays there? I thought he was playing somewhere else
-
Eto'o was out injured from September to December, then missed another month in January/February because he played for Cameroon in the African Cup of Nations. This season in La Liga... Eto'o has scored 14 goals in 15 matches (played 1253 minutes). Raúl has scored 17 goals in 33 matches (played 2816 minutes). Who the more efficient? Eto'o > Raúl
-
Oh yeah, I remember when he was injured, I thought he was playing for Milan, duh! I think Eto'o is better than Raul.

All it's football "in the ground", nicer to see but there's no way to score if the others defend back.
But isn't that okay? After all, you believe that jogo bonito is more important than the result.
but man, jogo bonito is not playing only by the middle not using the wings! that's only a ugly collision in the middle, right before the area. Figo, Beckham, Best, Cristiano Ronaldo, Garrincha, Gento, Roberto Carlos and the people that have "widened the field" were not "ugly play".

yes, it's true, he said just what you say, I wrote in a rush... I listened to Etoo for an hour on the radio yesterday and they talked about it a lot. Etoo is like me in that, he says what he wants to say no matter if it's "appropiate" or not. PS I NEVER read Marca.

no way, Etoo has played always as the centre striker, the 9, you know. And Raul only when Van Nistelrooy is not in. I think that if Barça had Raul and Real Madrid had Etoo, Barça would be leading the League. Kind of what happened with Casillas and Valdes past year.
-
Sounds like you think Raul is the greatest thing ever created since life itself. He's not, nor is he better than Eto'o. Ask any neutral supporter which player they'd rather have on their team and the vast majority would say Eto'o. And although Valdes has made a few mistakes in recent games, I believe he's been a more positive than negative member of the team. He has kept Barcelona in many games with many quality saves and if it wasn't for him Barça would be struggling to finish in a Champions League spot (top four in La Liga). I'm not saying Valdes is equal or better than Casillas because he's clearly not, but he's been more valuable to Barcelona than many give him credit for.

No, that are The Beatles. But as striker, when the defence of the rival is next to the area, I think he's the best in the world by far. Etoo is much better for open spaces, counterattacks, but no way when the others are defending like most teams do. I hear on radio, the people that talk about Barça here, saying that what Raul is doing is almost unbelievable. Kind of Casillas, past year. He walks inside an area full of defenders, loses all the marks, so he's alone, receives a pass, and goal, breaking the defence. The most important player in the world for me. I'm not gonna call him "the best" but "the most important", the MVP like in the NBA. you had it coming , goals from Raul, some of that, from this season

Interesting comments Unclesox. Henry said that he was happy at Arsenal but then before you knew anything else he was leaving. I don't believe anyone who says that they are happy and going to stay unless they sign a contract for another year.

Why believe them even then? Henry signed a four year extension after Paris 2006 and still left one season later. But if you're trying to suggest that Eto'o will leave after this season, forget it. Henry might, but not Eto'o. Next season, perhaps. If no trophies have been won. Besides, for Eto'o to move a club would have to agree a transfer fee with Barcelona and we see how that's going with Milan and Ronaldinho, who's been crap this season. Eto'o to Cadena SER on Tuesday... "I am surprised by all this reaction. I want to make it clear that I never threatened to leave Barcelona. What I said came at an event with children where I answered questions relaxed and, above all, speaking truthfully. This season I have the opportunity to win the Champions League, but if I do not win it and then the coming year I don't win anything either, it will be three years without obtaining anything. A club such as Barca cannot allow that. What I said was that I would not feel comfortable playing in a team that signed me to score goals and to win, and I don't manage it. I would not be able to look the fans in the face. I would answer it the same because I cannot lie to a child. I have always been honest and always will be. Next year I will be at Barcelona. I hope to start next season at my best level because during the last two seasons injuries have affected me. I hope to be able to help the team improve and that, all being well, we can win many things. When I said that I had reached the top, I wanted to say that after Barca I would not want to play in Spain. I would only go to Mallorca. If I leave Barcelona I will not play for any other Spanish team apart from Mallorca. For example, I will never play with Real Madrid."
-
I'm hearing right now Etoo on Spanish radio, yes, Cadena Ser. He says that playing as good as today, they will win the semifinals... As I guess everyone, I've been deceived by the match. It could have been anything from the Spanish League instead of Man Utd. and it would have been the same. Two lines of four, and defence back, the old way to stop Barça. I think that both Van der Sar and Valdes never had a calmer day this year. if Man Utd plays again this way, better training the penalties. Not impressed at all by Cristiano Ronaldo or Rooney...
-
Once again, Cristiano Ronaldo proves that when it comes to the big stage against a quality side, he fails to deliver. Lost count on how many times that's happened.
21st Century Paul:
Great show from the ManUtd! ??? I think that if they met Barça at semifinals they can score 7 goals.
Barcelona with 67% possession. 21 shots at goal (8 on target) compared to United's 6 (1). With United likely being more of attacking mind next week, I'm hoping gaps will be created for Messi to exploit.
-
Raul vs Etoo, according me. In the way they're compared at video games for instance, but only from 1 to 10, instead from 1 to 99. Quality Etoo Raul Long runs speed 10 6 Short runs speed 10 8 Ball control 8 9 Drible 8 8 Short passes 7 8 Long passes 6 7 Short shooting 9 10 Long shooting 8 7 Placing himself 6 10 Heading 7 9 Defending 8 9 Endurance 7 9

well, yes it's true . Man Utd got one, the penalty, and Barça none, in spite of shooting from strange places...

It looks like Cristiano is one of those players that is very good with lots of spaces, but not if there are defenders... like Etoo or Messi themselves.... Yes, Barça shooted at lot, but that didn't mean a thing, Van der Sar didn't do much... they were all shoots that couldn't get in. I hope we're gonna see the "REAL MATCH" next week.

8 shots on target compare to the one penalty miss. Eto'o should've scored early in the second half. Beautiful passing by Messi to Deco to Messi to Iniesta, flick backheel to Eto'o who shot into the side netting. Would've been a class goal.

What about the other matchup. You think Liverpool can get the job done or is Chelsea in Moscow? I think Liverpool can score one but I don't know if it will be enough. Maybe penalties again.
