I think we should have a Golden Balls poll. Who do you think is the player with biggest balls of FIFA football? lol (I could create a poll on the board). Someone can add more examples? For me now it would be. 3. "Big Balls" prize, for Pirlo and his Panenka penalty and overall coolness when doing it. 2. "Bigger Balls" to Ramos, for doing a Panenka not being that skilled and after shooting over the bar a penalty a few weeks ago in the Champions semifinals, 1. "Biggest Balls" to Neuer, for shooting softly and scoring a goal being a goalkeeper, in Champions League final. Other mentions: Pique, for shooting yesterday one penalty... the first penalty he shoots as a pro in a match I'm sure there's more, at this moment my votes are: 3 to Neuer (Germany/Bayern Munchen) 2 to Ramos (Spain/Real Madrid) 1 to Pirlo (Italy/Juventus)

We don't have a tennis topic so just popping in here to congratulate Lukas Rosol... Who? You'd be forgiven for asking.... Ranked 100 in the mens ranking he has just beated Rafa Nadal - ranked 2nd - in a thrilling five set match under the centre court roof and floodlights. The first time Rafa has left any major tournament as early as the second round in seven years. Look out for breaking news reports world-wide... Martin

Not really a tennis fan but I caught the final points of the Wimbledon shocker. Opens up the whole Men's side now. As for the Euro, Germany looked as if they were overconfident, looking ahead towards the final, etc. I was hoping they advance because I think Spain is in their heads. Italy scare me. Del Bosque has to start a striker, and Torres will likely be the one. If their group encounter is any indication it should be a fascinating contest.

What an embarrassingly ridiculous sport, that it can't find a better way to decide the winner than penalties in a competition!! Surely they could just take off the goalies, or slowly make the goal bigger or something? Those matches are hard to watch, and I get to a point as the 90 minutes (and 120 mins) looms where I don't care who scores as long as someone does. But they don't... Tennis has a great scoring system, where there's always a winner and it's never over until the last point. Much nicer to watch, for me anyway.
oh dear.. tennis over football..shall i call the sporting doctor for you 'tennis' is beyond dull..completely unwatchable..however as a youngster i do remember watch the ladies tennis especially argentinas 'gasbriella sabbatini' in the hope that her game would stretch to three sets and she would start sweating a bit see through on her top .

you was right Italy "defeated" Germany politics yesterday too, with the help of Spain, so it's has been very symbolic.

well predicted 'macsback'. although in a way i am even cleverier [is that a word]. i backed italy pre tournament at 16/1 £10 stake im sure i even mentioned it earlier in this thread. however i will admit it was the 'value' that interested me more than me being an expert tipster...if my life depended on this tournament i would not have looked past germany or spain

I never thought Germany were better than Italy, and I like Italy playing style. I didn't saw the match but I guess Italy deserved it. But I don't get why it wasn't harder for Italy for not having the extra 2 days rest. Torres, Torres, Torres.... if not Italy is gonna go forward till Spain loses the ball. If not Torres, at least Navas or Pedro... but not Cesc, Llorente, Negredo... All the Spain's supporters over the world sing along
I prefer this one when people sings it -

Just to be clear, I do think football is great to watch, but I always get more and more frustrated when a match is failing to produce a result, and it's just the SCORING SYSTEM of tournament football that I think is rubbish. No matter whether you like tennis or not. My point was just that tennis had a much better, fairer and less arbitrary scoring system than football.

Some say that the success of football (i mean what makes it the most watched sport in the world) in that it reflects the world and life. I mean, it's not always fair, and sometimes arbitrary, the most talented doesn't always win at all, etc. For instance, it would be a better show if the fouls were much more punished. So the talented players and teams would go further... but in life there's violence, and hate, and obstacles...

Standings for the Fantasy Football Macca Board League (UEFA EURO 2012), one match to go # Team Manager Points this round Overall points 1 www.oliversanz.com 21st Century Paul 50 250 2 La Furia Blaugrana unclesox 38 249 3 Three Lions XI Daniel 35 192 World's teams 560,240 Me at #20,670 Unclesox at #21,821 Daniel at #248,116 Daniel is far away from us but still on the top half. I've taken the lead by A POINT before the final game. Unclesox and me in the top 4% on an epic final duel. The closest ever. Unclesox can still use the wildcard so do as many changes as he wants. I'd have to stick with my players and some changes. Any words you want to say Unclesox? It's never been so close!

I think the way the final will be depends on 2 things. Whether Italy plays 4-3-1-2 or 3-5-2 and whether Spain plays with Fabregas as forward or Torres. I haven't promised to do anything if Spain wins the cup so I won't record anything or so..

The semifinals really hurt my team. I'm in six "classic leagues" and I was in first place in four of them. Now I'm in first place in only two. In one league there are 84 people (!) and I was top three for most of the tournament but now I'm sitting in 8th place. But yes, I still have my wildcard so that should help me. Otherwise I think you can only make four changes for the final. Oh well, win or lose it's all in fun.

I go back a bit further. When I was young I had a crush on Chris Evert. I used to get so mad at Martina Navratilova because it seemed she was always beating her. Also, I didn't know too many guys that thought Monica Seles was hot but I took a liking to her. Maybe it was that grunting she always did. She was a great player until that nutcase A-hole stabbed her. Golf is another boring sport to try and sit through but Annika Sorenstam always made it a bit easier for me.

MOANica Seles done my nut in with all that screaming, it was like that scene from when Harry met Sally when she smashed the ball, but instead of yes!! yes!! yes!! it was as if she was having a group session with a American football team
