they don't know, they can't see... Laudrup himself was never into these things anyway... The Spanish league coaches voted for the most valuable player of the league. #1 was Casillas and #2 it was a tie between Sergio Ramos and Raul. Schuster didn't vote, he was the only one. BTW, in a yesterday's newspaper interview Schuster answered sometimes like if Cristiano was already signed "We won't have problems with him..." etc. and sometimes talked as if it was a possibility "If he comes...". I think Schuster somehow knows he's gonna come. SUMMER SIGNINGS Mourinho to Inter Milan. Done. He wants Deco and Lampard. Garay (Racing de Santander) to Real Madrid. I've never see him, he's yound and said to be good. Centre back. Keita (Sevilla) to Barcelona FC. Midfielder, very good in defense, and good shouting from distance, Casillas can tell... not so great with the ball, but not a ball loser like Diarra, somehow like Toure Yaya. Pique (Manchester Utd) to Barcelona FC. 21 years, centre back. Grandson of a ex-important man with Nuñez and Gaspart (another guy he can't play much then... there are better ones everywhere... but well, that's another story, reminds of Fernando Sanz, ex-player of Real Madrid.. son of the president , then they say they're "the best players in the world" : ) Cassano to stay one more year in Sampdoria but still a Real Madrid player.

And Edmilson (Barcelona FC) to Villareal. Del Piero finally went for Italy. Spanish is training with this XI. ................Casillas................. Ramos.Puyol..Marchena.Capdevila ................Senna....................... Iniesta.Xavi..Cesc....Silva...... ..............Torres........................ with the "4 jugones", kind of "playmakers" in the field. And without wings really. Actually, none of 23 players in the team is a wing , Silva is the closest to be called a wing.

Sergio Garcia plays wide on the right for Zaragoza. Iniesta has, at times, started wide left for Barcelona.

Yes, but they're not wings... Iniesta is not gonna run a do a good crossing. If a wing can't do a good crossing, he's not a good wing, even if he dribbles a lot. It's like a centre back that can't defence, a midfielder that can't pass or a striker that can't shoot.

Hleb is joining Barcelona. He is due to sign later this week. What i really can't understand is why he is going for 12 million when the Gunners are paying him 11 million. If he was offered 25 million, then i could understand why he would want to leave Arsenal. But for the sake of a a million difference??

No player earns 11 milion as far as I know. Zambrotta from Barcelona FC to Milan AC

Sorry my mistake. ops: ops: ops: I'm just not happy about the best players going to international teams. But it's out of our control but it gives us something to talk about. I guess my point is that if he does sign, Arsenal are going to lose a second midfield player who is worth keeping. As long as Walcott doesn't go. I reckon he is the next Henry.

The signings saves us from boredom. If players never changed their team... well... everyone still would be playing in their town's team, you know. Arsenal signed Hleb from somewhere... it's the same thing. Besides they are workers and they're free to change the company they work for, like you and me. I know it's not the same, FIFA football it's kind of a mafia, with it's own laws, that are outside of the real laws. Actually they lose everytime someone goes to justice, like Bosman did or others. It's just a circus ruled by FIFA. The next strange thing coming it's the 6+5 rule, against any country law, but FIFA it's gonna do it anyway. Actually they are an organization "outside of the law". For instance, the president of the Spanish federation (and vicepresident of UEFA or FIFA, I don't know...) is forced by law to do elections since a long time ago. The Spanish gov did a law that forced all the federations that didn't qualify the national team for the China Olympics to do elections. Football is one of them and the president of the federation has not obbeyed the government... and things keep rolling anyway. It really doesn't make me thing of the Spain National Team as that. It's just some players inside that outlaw circus.

[quote="21st Century Paul The signings saves us from boredom. . You can say that again !!!!!! Like you said, they are free to change their company, just like we do. But why do the best players always move on? Is it because they want more from another team? I know Arsenal had a better season but they didn't win anything and the season before that = well, i don't even want to talk about that one. Hleb is a good player and he has nice legs which is why I don't want him to go.

Well, the best workers are not seen on TV, if you work very well the rest of the companies that compete with yours are not gonna see it. If they could see it probably the best workers would move often.

I think I'll check it out. I've got to take a look at the rules, I guess it's that thing that gives you point when a player scores, etc. Cannavaro injured for 3 months. Basic part of the Italian defence. At Barça it's such a mess that I'm not sure what players are out or into of it, I think it's... Martin Caceres (Villareal) signed, Dos Santos to Totthenham, Hleb signed? Laporta, Barça's president finally will face the votation in some weeks to stay or be fired by the Barça members. So, he "should" do all the signings before in order to "impress" : the voters... etc. Cristiano Ronaldo is supposed to decide tomorrow or very soon.

That's correct. Here's a list of rules/scoring: link So far, Daniel and I are the only ones in the league. Quite challenging as you have to predict which players will play and have a good game in terms of scoring and assisting goals. For goalkeepers, defenders and midfielders the object is to concede as few goals as possible, preferrably keeping a clean sheet. Also very fun as you tend to cheer on individual players rather than entire teams. They do these sort of games for the Champions League, UEFA Cup and various domestic club leagues (the one for the English Premier League is very popular) that run over many months. But this one only focuses on EURO 2008 and since it only lasts less than a month it gives the newbie a taste of how the game is played before trying one of the longer, club season games.
-
Ok, I think I get it. Some friend of mine played that against/with their ex-co-workers for the Champions League and told me the things he did. Ok, my team is gonna be (is funnier if we announce it!)... for the first match.... though it seem we can change it before the match in case of injury or so...
-
I'm into it. Into the Macca board league I only don't understand much what the wild cars are... I see we can not each other's team... then I won't tell about what my players, that maybe the point of this...

Once the first match kicks off (Switzerland v Czech Rep) then you'll be able to see everyone's teams. Wild Cards Once the first Matchday kicks off (Switzerland v Czech Rep) you cannot make any more transfers that will affect your scoring for that Matchday, which lasts through Group Phase 1. Any transfers you do make won't take affect until Matchday 2 begins (Group Phase 2). However, let's say Switzerland v Czech Rep kicks off. You have Fernando Torres in your team. A day or two later you discover that Aragones will start Villa ahead of Torres for tactical or injury reasons. You can use your wild card to replace Torres with Villa since Villa is cheaper. If you have Villa and Torres starts, you must have enough money remaining to allow the switch since Torres costs more. You can only switch players who have not had their game kick off yet. For example, you wouldn't be allowed to bring in Milan Baros since Czech Rep would have already played. A bit difficult to explain. This is the first time I've ever used this type of "wild card". I like it because it allows for some flexibility.
-
Yes, the wild card is a kind of last moment signing/incorporation, but only for that match I guess or maybe it will change the player for the rest of the games, well I'll read about it. Anyway, now it's too soon to know. Other cause to be out of the team could be fights with the coach. I'd like to use a wild card to put Raul into the team. j/k... but I'm serious too... We have only 3 forwards and no wings, the usual problems, a lot of passes, but not dangerous, straight ones, Laudrup ones... no play through the air (long balls, crossings...). Anyway we have possibly the best goalkeeper, the best forward line and the best midfield... and Puyol and Sergio Ramos. Anyway I don't trust much in Spain... it has just the same problems that Barça this year. Here almost everyone learns to play football in fields on the street for 5 against 5 football. "Street football"... The field is much smaller and almost all of the playing is done on the floor, hardly a crossing or a long ball through the air... (though it can be done!)... sometimes the only way is up!.
-
I think I got it clear. For instance the performance of Michael Laudrup vs Nigeria in that World Cup would be counted like this: (If he would be classified as "Midfielder", cause sometimes they say it's a forward) For playing at least 60 minutes in a game (includes playing points mentioned above "one") 2 For each goal assist 3 For each goal assist 3 (he did too) Man of the match 3 (I guess he would have be choosen) Make 11, if he was captain it makes 22. this is not my team but I'm playing a whole season with FIFA08 game and play like that... (really playing) Casillas; Ramos, Pepe, Clichy; Sneijder, Essien, Fabregas, Carlos Alberto; Robinho, Kaka, Nasri I sold Van Nistelrooy and Metzelder to Atletico de Madrid and got 20 milion euros. Raul to Zaragoza for 10 or so, Guti to some English club, Cannavaro to a Spanish one, Marcelo and Torres too... with the money I had for signing plus the money from selling I made a lot of signings. Adriano bought in September and sold in December. Kaka for 40 milions. Fabregas for 20. Essien for 25. Carlos Alberto (Sao Paulo) for 18. Clichy for 8 Chivu for 11. Nasri for 25. And Cicinho for 7, back to Real Madrid. it's very funny...

Which team/teams will you be cheering on? Germany, Poland and Austria. Unfortunately, those three are all in one group, so one of them will have to go after the first round in any case... : What would be your Dream Final? Anything with Germany in it! Which team/teams do you hope fail miserably? Well, Croatia and either Poland or Austria... Do you have a dark horse team that one shouldn't write off? (Team that could shock) Turkey Which player(s) do you think will shine the brightest in Austria/Switzerland? I'm hoping for Ballack, Klose, Podolski and maybe Lehmann (whose past season with Arsenal wasn't really good!) Are there any countries that failed to qualify that you wish had? Any of the teams on the British Isles (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland) Which EURO tournament was the first you remember watching? (What year?) 1976 Your all-time EURO memory. Uli Hoeness' missed penalty against Czechoslovakia in 1976 and Oliver Bierhoff's Golden Goal against the Czech Republic in 1996.

So,who will win the EURO2008?!...Italy?Holland?...Spain?Germany?...Suspense!...
