I think Holland will win from Russia. Italy will win from... whoever they have to play... Holland stands against Italy in the semi-finals. Germany and Turkey in the semi-finals. Germany will win, Holland will win, Holland v.s. Germany in the final And I think Holland stands a good chanche to win the final!

well, I think they have done the best football in the tournament... and even of many tournaments... but that was the league round... things are different in knock out rounds it's not about points but to be out of in...
Yes, things are different. But we won all 3 games at the league round. Italy only won 1 game, and all the other games where 0-0 (or 1-1)
yes, and Croatia won the 3 games... and Portugal 2 and played the other with the substitutes and now they're out... you know, actually the ones of semifinals are the second of each group BTW I don't know what I was thinking but I wrote like if Holland had to play semifinals against Germany... and it would be against Italy or Spain. Maybe it's this strange system where semifinals matches are again between teams of the same groups crossed on quarterfinals. Or maybe I though of Beckenbauer vs Cruyff... Turkey vs Germany is the 1st semifinal.

i still cannot believe that Türkiye won that match. it seemed so impossible to me! and i have to admit, if Croatia scored a goal in the normal time of the match, i wasn't going to get upset because we (i mean Türkiye) was playing so bad! but it broke my heart that they scored that goal just when we started to play real football. i am still amazed that Semih Şentürk managed to score at the last second! cannot complain though! but it is for real that Türkiye has been winning just out of luck and few talented players, like Nihat and Semih. otherwise we were doomed Croatia was playing so good and Türkiye was lucky, i guess... but with all this faulted and injured players, i guess we won't be able win the Germanian match. but i mean, Türkiye suprises people, even me....

Luis Aragones "If Gattuso is a football player media star I'm gonna become a priest" Gattuso "Aragones age is too high to become a priest" In the meantime, after Barzagli injuring Cannavaro, and substituted him in the XI, now Barzagli is injured... they injure each other training :, well it's a good training for injuring the other team... Luis Enrique "We have some advantage, Tassotti is not going to play..." Donadoni "I know Villa and Torres better than I know Zambrotta and Cannavaro" besides a lot of SMS between Cannavaro and Casillas and Ramos, for instance... at least now this is funny... They say countries play as they are (Kissinger)... and they say Italy is the most similar country to Spain... once of these 2 sentences is wrong... The beautiful football, today, the complicated one, tomorrow.

I've never seen a referee take back a red card! That must be a new rule!

What are your thoughts about the dutch team?
21st Century Paul:
I trust in Holland (4 players in the Fantasy Football ) for this round....
unclesox:
Holland have proven that they have what it takes to score goals, but I'm not convinced with their defence. Italy and France were a bit unlucky with the numerous chances they had to score, and with Arshavin now available and linking up with Pavlyuchenko up front I think the Russians won't go down as easily as many believe. Russia appears to have become stronger as the competition moves along. I think Holland v Russia is a fascinating matchup and could very well be the best of the quarterfinals.
Regarding the red card, the linesman judged that the ball had gone out of play (it didn't look like it) before Kolodin was called for the foul (it didn't look like a foul). Thus once the ball went out of play, everything stopped and the 'foul' never occurred. Hence the rescinding of the red card. Lubos Michel is ranked as UEFA's number one official. That's why he's still around reffing in the tournament. (Four of the tournament's twelve referees have gone home; four others are acting as the 4th official with three of them likely to be selected to ref the semifinals and final. The quarterfinal refs will probably take over as 4th officials biginning on Wednesday. Depends on which teams advance as some of the refs are from countries still playing in the tournament)

The keeper of Turkey got a red card when the ball was out of play! Doesn't matter, I just thought it was weird!

Totally different circumstances. Volkan (Turkish keeper) headbutted a player. He was sent off for "violent conduct", which can happen at any time, regardless of whether the ball is in play or not. If a player headbutts another as they're walking into the dressing room at halftime he can be shown the red card right then and there. Kolodin fouled Sneijder as the ref allowed play to continue because he was unaware his linesman had put up his flag. The ref booked Kolodin for the foul, not for violent conduct. But since the linesman had flagged the ball out of play, all action after that was nullified. Thus the foul never occurred so he cannot be booked for it. Now, if the referee had blown his whistle to stop play and Kolodin continued on and fouled Sneijder, THEN he would've been booked for violent conduct, or for attempted time wasting, or whatever the ref saw fit. But since the ref never blew his whistle, Kolodin and everyone else continued playing. But once the ref realized play had stopped, he rescinded the card. UEFA has no reason to explain for anything the ref did. Regardless, Russia were thoroughly the better side on the night. The Dutch weren't able to perform as they had during the group stage, Russia took it Holland and should've won it in the first half alone with all those chances. If one looks at it all objectively, as a neutral, there can be no complaints that the better team on the night advanced to the semifinals. Talk of refereeing mistakes as the reason for Holland's ouster is grasping at straws.

Ok... Holland is out... I'm not happy with it, but the Russians played really good.
