I thought the long kicks and running was kind of a tradition. I didn't know England didn't play like that before. So many injuries... Lampard, Carrick, Barry, then there's Ferdinand, Rooney... Where's A. Lennon, M. Richards and what about Willshere, that is a Iniesta-like style of midfielder, what has become of him??? And even Becks.
-
BTW! The Daily Mirror claimed racist insult from Spain's fans against Balotelli. There was a moment when they said "Toooonto... Tontoooo", nothing to do with racist. A thing that often is said in Spanish stadium when someone does a big mistake... kind of like "you silly". That been said maybe there was some dozens says all kinds of things, you know... If you want to look for insults in Spanish stadiums look for all that has been said to CR7 this year. Not a racist one but anything for "tooonto... tontoo..." to "motherf...", bastard" (a big choir of that...)

So, in a few hours, Germany vs. Netherlands. Could be an awesome game. Or a game with many red cards.
The mood in both countries is again very hateful, like in the 80s and 90s, a bit like Poland vs. Russia yesterday. Well, as a German, nobody likes you and the other way around. It's difficult for a German to keep fingers crossed for another country, f.i. in the game France-Enland, we don't like either of them.
I doubt that one other country has as many archrivals as Germany. We don't like England, France, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Argentina and so on. From the big football-nations, maybe only Brazil and Spain are okay.
-
It wasn't bad. The field grass was wet, no slow game. Spain will face today Trap's trap. lol... no way he wants the field to be watered. That (dry field/wet field) is becoming a key in all the matches. Denmark and Portugal agreed so it was watered and the playing was fast. What about Cristiano misses? Really remarkable. Particularly the one when he is one on one with the keeper and kicks the ball far away from the goal. For a guy that beats all-time scoring records. !

wrong. my country 'scotland' has always had a soft spot for the germans...especially considering all the pain you have inflicted on the english team down the years

Spain's show. 4 goals. 20 shots ON target. All kinds of passes. Trapattoni didn't agree about watering the field grass but the sky provided the water. No slow games like this. When Cesc got in for Torres Spain played a little worse. I still think they need a fast forward to prevent the other team pressure. Torres or Pedro, or even Silva but not Cesc. That seems is going to happen from then on. Now if Javi Martinez plays instead of Arbeloa I would say Spain will win the tournament.
-
Great tournament so far. No penalties awarded. No match has ended goalless. And Torres finally scores! TWICE!! (but it was against Ireland)

Yes, it was against Ireland and with a wet field. Now the talk in Italy is that if Spain - Croatia would end 2-2, both teams will qualify and Italy would be out of the tournament. And they're suspecting that Croatia and Spain "agree" the result, you know... Quite ironic after what's happening in Italy with players being judged and out of the national team because of similar things in Calcio. I don't know what they do, the temptation is strong because it's leaving Italy, Spain's less wanted rival, out. And for the sake of it I'm gonna "translate" to English the Spanish team. lol. Goalkeeper: Ike Pigeonholes Defenders: Alvin Arbell, Serge Buches, Gerard Stung, George Dawn Midfielders: Serge Busch, Shabby Alonzo, Shabby Ferdinand, David Whistles, Andrew Noteven-Thisone Forwards: Ferdinand Towers

So what do we predict that the outcome of the England/Ukraine will be? I think we're going to be annihilated!

unfortunately england will probably beat/bore sweden and then draw with ukraine..go through in 2nd place and get humiliated by spain in the quarters!
-
And 5 mins into the Ukraine/France game and it has been suspended because of REALLY bad rain and fork lightening!

Some historic facts about the Spain 4 - Ireland 0 ("The Bailout Derby" lol) 4-0 is the biggest win in Eurocup's history
It was done against a Trappatoni's team
A new record of passes in a Eurocup's match was set, more than 800. I'm not sure about this one but I guess 15 shots on target is a Eurocup record too. And receiving only one too. "out of this world" said Dunne. That being said, I don't think we're gonna play like that in a dry field...

Well, I've read that on the papers and heard it on the radio... I guess it's them who have the facts wrong. Except for Trapattoni. Trapattoni was the coach, the very worried coach. highlights of the historic game (anyway)

There's nothing "sudden", I've been on this thread for years and years. I've been playing the Fantasy here with Daniel and unclesox for several years. Five?

Don't get me wrong, Spain were good but Ireland gave one of the worst performances ever. Germany definitely look like the team to beat IMO.

England won a game
How has this happened?? England never win!!!!

I was talking about the big football-nations.
Nice to know that at least someone likes us.
And Germany won against the Netherlands. Great game, could be better from Germany in the second half, but still good. The 1:2 was unnecessary, Germany should've made the 3:0 instead. But anyway, two games, two wins, today against Denmark.

The BBC compiled a definitive list of all the possible group stage end permutations here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18454917 Makes it all clear - yes, right
