First game of the season and: Man U 2 Portsmouth 0 but they win on penalties I guess that Intheskywithdiamonds, and SarahF, you are bothvery happy tonight with that result ... I think that Man U will be fighting again this season. I think Chelsea will be more dominant though. Arsenal's first match will be against Fulham . Not that it will be a difficult game, but i'm not sure how the Gunners will manage this season.

And there's still no place for Raúl or Guti. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.

Great show from Barça.
This time the players moved without having the ball and lost their marks. Unlike the past season. The only but about it is that the Wisla Cracovia team played with the defence very far from their area, and that always favours Barça. It's only a game but it seems there's a better feeling between Barça's players this year.

The thing I like about Pep so far is that he's not afraid to get on the player's. When Alves went off injured Piqué was caught unaware and had to hurry because he didn't have his shoes on. Pep threw his arms in the air and kept talking to the heavens in frustration until Piqué was finally on the pitch.
And in another instance when Puyol allowed a playable ball to run out for a throw-in, Pep went up to him and barked at him to keep the flow going.
Gone are the days of Rijkaard's passiveness as Guardiola is clearly not letting anything and anyone off the hook. No wonder why Deco and Ronaldinho wanted to leave.

yes, and Pep was that way in the field, so I guess it will be that way as a coach. He feels it, he was the brains in the team, the leader... I've always liked him as a player. Even being a Real Madrid fan some said to me while playing "and you will be the Guardiola of our team..." or so... giving passes and directing everything.

I think he's special, the kind of player that can worry a lot a defence, but not the one that can win matches... but he's still young, he will be better. If you notice since Messi plays in Barça they haven't won a thing. Not because of him but he's not the kind of player that makes you win. BTW tomorrow the classic american derbi. Brazil vs Argentina.

Sympathy and prayers to the families of those that perished in the tragic airline crash in Madrid today. 141 of the 164 passengers reportedly perished after a Spanair MD82 flight bound for Las Palmas crashed after it aborted its takeoff from Madrid-Barajas Airport.
Reports claimed that the left hand engine of the plane caught fire on a second attempt at take off. The plane was said to had only made it a few metres off the ground before going back down and crashing, splitting the airline in two. The match between Denmark and Spain in Copenhagen was threatened with cancellation due to the events in Madrid but officials agreed to allow the match to go ahead. Scheduled celebrations of Spain's EURO victory and the retirement of Danish player Thomas Helveg have been cancelled and a minutes silence will be held just before kickoff. Both teams will wear black armbands.

Gold for Argentina again. Di Maria's goal in parabol shot ("vaselina" is the name here... cause when the ball is on the floor the feet does like giving vaseline to the ball so it flies this way. I've found some names on the dictionary: chip, Banana shot (:lol
curler, well you know what it is.
And Robinho is quite in the similar situation than Cristiano was. "I want to go out of Real Madrid", Chelsea? How much?

This Wednesday 2nd match of the last qualifying for the Champions League. It's not a league and the teams are not champions, but they put it that name... The draw of the group stages is gonna be the day after the matches. 28 Aug. I guess fantasy football will begin that date. I hope someday you'll join us.
actually even if you didn't have a clue of football you can select the "more selected players" or the "players with more points" and still seem like you do.
