My predictions: Bayern München 2:1 Borussia Dortmund Hamburger SV 3:0 Arminia Bielefeld FC Schalke 04 3:1 Eintracht Frankfurt Bayer Leverkusen 2:1 Alemannia Aachen VfB Stuttgart 2:0 1. FC Nürnberg Bor. Mönchengladbach 1:0 Energie Cottbus FSV Mainz 05 2:1 VfL Bochum Hannover 96 0:3 Werder Bremen VfL Wolfsburg 1:2 Hertha BSC ------------------------------- Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool

Scoring for both leagues will be the same as what we did during the World Cup group matches: 1 point for correct result (win/draw). 3 points total for result plus exact scoreline.
How about adding 2 points if you don't predict the exact scoreline, but the exact goal difference (e. g. you predicted 1-0, the score was 2-1)? My predictions: Bayern München 3:1 Borussia Dortmund Hamburger SV 3:0 Arminia Bielefeld FC Schalke 04 3:1 Eintracht Frankfurt Bayer Leverkusen 2:0 Alemannia Aachen VfB Stuttgart 2:1 1. FC Nürnberg Bor. Mönchengladbach 3:0 Energie Cottbus FSV Mainz 05 1:1 VfL Bochum Hannover 96 1:3 Werder Bremen VfL Wolfsburg 1:2 Hertha BSC ------------------------------- Chelsea 1-3 Liverpool

McCartney signs with West Ham! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/5255232.stm
Now they must sign LENNON (Neil Lennon) and they should have an unbeatable pair!

I predict 1-1. Score ends 0-0. Do you award 1 point (correct result) or 2 points (result + exact goal difference)?
-
According to my suggestion, 2 points. That would mean, if you predict a draw, and the game ends in a draw, you'd always get 2 or, if you hit the exact result, 3 points.

It was that Lennon the one I recalled... everytime I hear the Spanish speaker saying "Lennon passes to..." or "McCartney passes to..." Imagine "Lennon to McCartney", then "McCartney to Lennon" They would win many supporters!!! .

Well, most of the prediction games I play don't award for goal difference. Only one does, and they score 5-3-1 - yours is 3-2-1. If I predict 0-0 and score ends up 3-3, I really don't think 2 points is fair. 1-1 perhaps, but then we'll start getting into all kinds of scoring methods and it would just be too much. I don't know. I really want to keep things as simple as possible since we may have three different leagues going on. I'm also involved in a few other games outside this board like Fantasy Football, which involves selecting individual players and scoring off of their statistics. I guess we can try it for the Bundesliga game. It looks like you and I will be the only ones playing anyway. The past 2-3 seasons Daniel and I only used results and exact scores when we had our old "Predictions Thread", which was mainly Premier League and Champions League. So I'd like to keep those the same. (We actually only scored 2 points for hitting the exact score. I think 3 points is a nicer reward ) I'm not in favor of awarding points for "goal difference" for our Champions League contest because it really doesn't come into play during the group stages (in the actual tournament itself), meaning it's not the first tiebreak.

I watched a bit of Hamburg-Osasuna today. Ended goalless. I'm really torn on who to root for in this tie because I want both the Bundesliga and La Liga to have maximum representation in the group stages. (Valencia lost away to Salzburg 1-0 ) Liverpool struggled to beat Maccabi Haifa 2-1 at Anfield. I think 2nd leg will be in the Ukraine since UEFA have said Israeli sides can't host any matches due to the conflict in that region. Surely, Liverpool won't miss the CL group stages, will they? Hearts lost at home 1-2 to AEK. AC Milan 1-0 at home against Red Star Belgrade. 2nd leg should be interesting.

Ruud is off to Real Madrid. And without a decent midfield to help feed him balls to tap home from inside the six-yard box, he will regret this decision. Imo. anyway. Rooney's value in Fantasy Football should go up a bit now.
Well, he will have David Beckham.
If Ruud was known as a good header of the ball, I would definately agree. But I can hardly think of any goals he's scored in the air. van Nistelrooy, Cassano, Ronaldo, Raul, Robinho, Baptista... six forwards! Although Robinho and Baptista could go in midfield. I just think Real Madrid should've gone for a midfielder instead of another striker. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. well... I'm complaining on behalf of ManU because I'd like to see a team challenge Chelsea this season. Liverpool looks to be the team with the best chance.
Well, I'm a Real Madrid supporter but I think they went crazy a long time ago about the people they sign.
I don't watch "football" but Real Madrid and DC United are playing here in Seattle tonight!!!

After thinking about it while at work last night, I'm willing to try the 5-3-1 scoring for the Bundesliga game. If there are others planning on playing the Premier League game, I'd like to hear your thinking on how we should score. My original version or should we also award for margin of win/goal difference? For the Champions League group stages I'd still like to keep it at 1 for result and 3 for exact score. Margin of victory doesn't really come into play in the actual tournament until the knock-out rounds so perhaps we can incorporate it then.

As long as you don't say you like America, you're okay in my book. I hate that team. I like Toluca and... get ready for this...... Atletico Celaya. I'll try and catch at least one Mexican League game a week. Some believe that outside of Europe the Primera Division is the best in the world.
