Downton Abbey
-
My friend watched the whole thing online last fall when they were playing in the UK. I'm in for tomorrow night.
-
I need to start watching this. Hey I found this show on Masterpiece Theatre a couple of months ago. It was about some spy games like in WW2 era? The episode I saw was when the British were harboring a captured German soldier in London and the British were going to let him go, but instead someone intervened and the Americans met him at the airport and arrested him, the German. The German soldier had been in some operation involving SUNFLOWERS? Anyway, what was this show? I need to find it again. Great sets and costumes. I feel like I am wayyyy back in time. Sorry for going off subject... ops:

It sounds a bit like Foyle's War. Love that show. The whole thing is on Netflix, or several seasons anyway.

Love Michael Kitchen and the other lead--young girl with red hair. Her first name is a type of flower. Can't think of it right now. She's really good too.

Season 4 premiere is tonight on PBS at 9 p.m. EST
-
I've managed to see all of season 4 but not the Christmas Special...still !! It's horrible how they are making us wait sooooooooooooo long I guess I'm gonna spring for the Blu Ray
-
OMG, how many of you noticed this last night in the premiere? They all thought that O'Brien's nephew knew something ahead of time about her leaving, but he denied it. Mrs. Patamore says, "I believe you. Thousands wouldn't." Okay--who knows what that is from? I'll be back in about 12 hours and tell you in case nobody knows.
-
Well, nobody posted here, so I'll tell you. In the Beatles movie Help! when they're at Scotland Yard telling their story, and the Inspector says...."I believe you. Thousands wouldn't." That has become a "catchphrase" with me & my Mom!

Episode 2 at 9pm. Woot!

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, what a shocker ending to the episode! Surely Mr. Bates will figure out something is seriously wrong and get the truth out of Annie! He suspected right away that something was wrong, so I don't think he'll let it go. I don't want him to kill the guy that raped her, but he needs to be brought to justice!! On a lighter note, who thought that the opera singer resembled Cher?

Maybe this is why a friend said she hated this season and it's a soap opera. If Mr. Bates doesn't figure it out soon and kick his arse, maybe someone else will! Annie is my fav character. The solution is very simple, really. Head matron tells Lady Maggie Smith when dumbarse master is away from the estate. Lady gets the sheriff (is that constable over there?) to come and lock crazy pervert up. Hence, Mr. Bates can't kill him and Annie's reputation saved.

But the story would get out and everyone would know. Annie wouldn't want that! We'll just have to see how they resolve it. I plan to watch the show, but also buy the Season 4 DVD for my Dad, but not until April for his birthday, so if anyone here buys it and knows what happens (it comes out Jan. 28th) please don't spoil it for those of us who are watching "live." Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the villain is going to get his come uppance. I just hope they don't drag it on and on. If they do that, they will lose my interest in the storyline b/c of bad writing. Love the costumes, as always, though.

The wonderful Sue Johnston (Royle Family) will be joining Downton Abbey as Denker who is lady's made to Dame Maggie Smith's Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham. The show returns this Autumn in the UK for a fifth series and again at Christmas for a feature-length episode.

Missing the Christmas special, hope its recorded on ITV4
