Royal Wedding - Prince William to Marry Kate Middleton
-
Oh man!!! I am counting the days .... wooooo hooooo!!!! Oh yeah yeah ooooopppppoooooppppoooooodleoooooop!!!! I am gonna be glued to the set!!! This is better than the SuperBowl!!! I am going have some beer, wine, champagne or whatever I can find and snacks spread out all around me!!! I am going to DVR the thing and watch it over and over Yeah right Peradventure he could do "We Got Married" .....
-
Now that's the question...what will Macca sing? No na,na,na,na's, hopefully. Not for a wedding.
-
Paul could put so many songs in a hat ..... close his eyes and even pick out something like this:
or this.... or this ........ (a very very many many more) .... -
(sigh) You chose two of his most beautiful works, you weren't a fool about that... Reader, I love him. (from Jane Eyre) By the way--maybe Prince William deserves to have Paul sing for him and Kate on their very special day, just because of what he went through...his Mum taken away from him so soon, too soon, like what happened to Paul Mc. (and John Lennon too, come to think of it). Their mothers gone so soon from their lives.
-
My mother was taken from me too soon, maybe Paul will come over to my house and perform too

Do dads count as well? Then he can come over to my place as well
-
It's not fair to say that because of Diana that is why Paul would perform.
-
I wish them well and all the best.

Fan4-45years:
It's one of the best feel good occasions planned for this year apparently. I for one will be watching.
My children and I will be watching along with you! This morning I heard William and Kate's wedding/reception referred to as "the invitation of the decade...the golden ticket."
-
Perhaps this may add interest to the celebration for some... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/12/royal-wedding-uk-pubs_n_807983.html

[Not just a long weekend but two four day weekends back to back, Easter is the 22nd - 25th April and the wedding weekend ends with the May Bank Holiday Monday so runs 29th April - 2nd May inclusive. So for those who get Bank Holidays off, (wedding fan or not ) the prudent application for leave Tuesday 26th - Thursday 28th will secure a period off work from 22nd April to 2nd May - some 11 consecutive days off for the cost of three days leave - bargain Sadly my manager wouldn't entertain a form yesterday as he is not accepting next year leave requests yet and this trick will be common knowledge when he does. Still I have the form prepared for when he does....... Martin
Finally our workplace opened applications for leave for this period and I was able to submit the form that has been sat in my car's glove compartment since news of the date was announced. The long delay meant that many more had worked out the "eleven days off for the cost of three days" trick and my boss' side-kick poo-pooed my chances when I handed the form in, saying disparagingly "you're not the first to think of that" - well I probably was, having clocked it about 30 minutes after the date of the wedding was announced But fortunately he was not the person dealing with the requests and my request was approved without query or comment. So Hoorah William and Kate/Catherine, party -time..... Martin
-
Yeah Martin Congrats a long vacation! I'm very excited...this anglophile will be watching from the US...it's probably not going to be the best time to travel there. I wish the couple well and I've already drafted out one of my veggie columns in their honor
-
Congrats, Martin. Enjoy your holiday.
-
Kate is so pretty. She & William look so happy. Diana is smiling down upon them from heaven.
-
Fergie Duchess of York got an invitation and turned it down, she feels she's too trashy to be there (?)...ACTUALLY I don't know why she refused the invite, does anyone know???
-
Another development I don't quite grasp: Kate's parents are in the novelties and "party favors" biz, and they're coming out with a line of party fare bearing the likeness of their own daughter and Prince Wills--they're in that business, true, but WTF???!!!! Does this seem a bit odd, unseemly, to you? Another thing: Brits here maintain most Brits don't give a flyin' fig about this upcoming Royal wedding...but...remember the gigantic fuss over Charles and Diana's nuptials???!!! It's not like everybody didn't give a toss, not judging by what we saw on the telly, and in magazines and newspapers, etc. 'So what's up--are some peeps who post here just too cool for school so they'd never get down with anything about it, but they don't reflect the majority of English people and Britons? (or are those one & the same...oops) ops: :
-
I had to laugh when I saw the ads on tv & in mags, hawking repros of Diana's engagmenr ring for $20! If they're going to try to make money from repros of such a lovely ring, at least do it thru Franklin Mint or Bradford Exchange & charge a couple of hundred for something decent instead of crappy glass & metal that will turn fingers green. :
-
Charles and Diana`s nuptials were 30 years ago - alot has happened since then.
-
does anyone know if Stella was a contender for a designer of the wedding dress.

Kate joined Prince William on their first "official" engagement as a couple. Cutting their joint teeth as a double act they named a Royal Lifeboat Institute inshore lifeboat in Anglesey. A simple task for their first joint foray, on safe territory as Prince William is stationed just a few miles away working as a pilot with the Royal Navy Rescue Helicopters. Kate won hearts by singing the Welsh National Anthem - she's been taking lessons apparently. Apparently passed all other tests with flying colours - dress sense, composure, crowd pleaser in the now traditional walk-about that followed. Indeed commentators remarked she showed more composure than William who was fidgetting prior to his speech. Mind you Kate didn't have to speak - she just had to waste a bottle of champagne over the bow of the boat. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12573025 One source, but many others as the images hit the press this morning. They both return as a couple to St Andrews, the university where they both studied and met today. Clearly a full programme of events is scheduled prior to the wedding day - probably for the very purpose of getting Kate familar with Royal events and engagements. Martin
