Royal Wedding - Prince William to Marry Kate Middleton
-
Triplets Love Paul:
LOVE that William and Kate have requested charitable donations in lieu of wedding gifts.
so they should too, they will do quite well out of the taxpayer so they get enough 'gifts' from us. If it wasn't for tourism the royals would be gone by now. There actually is another royal wedding a few months later, Zara Phillips the daughter of Princess Anne will be marrying in Edinburgh, the reason I bring this up was there was another wedding booked there that day but they gave them money so the royals could have it and thats the side of the family I dont mind.

I like Wills and Kate, but I'm not very excited over this. I saw Diana and Charles's big fat Brit wedding (and look how that turned out...yikes) and then Diana's elaborate funeral (granted, the wedding was happier and more cheerful!) and that seems enough to hold me where huge English royal ceremonies are concerned. I say that now, but am sure when the time comes I'll at least want to see some pictures

Amen to Them !

Also, Bradford Exchange & other places are now coming out with a series of Kate dolls. They're even taking pre-orders for one of Kate in her wedding gown even tho' that's still top secret.

Oh my! That was really cool! I bet that is what really goes on behind the scenes in real life. I only wanna see the Wedding to see Prince Harry. <sigh >

Here I go, being Mr. Bah-Humbug again, but... ...I'm still perplexed why so many people are enamored with a family with so much scandal. I'll ask this question again in a few years when we're all reading about their divorce.

I'm old enough to remember dancing to that one at the clubs. Geez...I'm getting old.

Instead of tossing her bouquet, Kate is going to place it at the memorial for the Unknown Warrior. Unusual but caring.

GYPSYGIRL:
Instead of tossing her bouquet, Kate is going to place it at the memorial for the Unknown Warrior. Unusual but caring.
The story goes as follows: At the wedding of The Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, to Elizabeth's father King George the VI, her entrance had a momentary delay as an usher fainted and needed assistance. Skilled in the art of tact and diplomacy while this happened she stepped over to the tomb of the unknown warrior, gave it a moments due respect then spontaneously placed her bouquet upon it. It has become tradition and has been repeated at all Westminster Abbey royal weddings since. Of course, Charles and Diana, the last of similar grandeur was held at the larger St Paul's Cathedral so this tradition didn't take place then. Martin

So, Martin, you must be starting your long holiday surrounded by two long weekends. I'm sure I will end up watching the wedding. I watched the wedding of Charles and Diana. I also saw the wedding dress on display at St. Paul's cathedral. Also toured Kensington Palace and saw a lot of Diana's dresses. I sadly was glued to the television during the days following her death. Feels like I should watch a happy time.

Yes indeed. I'm loading the car for an Easter weekend break. This the first time I can recall ever throwing myself and family into the scrum of traffic jams over the Easter weekend, usually we just hunker down with a siege mentality and become couch potatoes watching films sports etc. But I spotted a last minute bargain break 3nights/4 days at a holiday park in Norfolk, right on the beach but also with indoor swimming pool and entertainment bar and with the weather reliably set fair for the whole Easter period we decided to book it. And once back still a full week more The Royal Wedding is shaping up nicely to be a glorious day. I hope many of you can get to watch the BBC broadcast of the day's events they have such articulate knowledgeable presenters that will fill the day with factoids such as the flowers on the Unknown soldier tombstone posted above. Martin

Enjoy your holiday. I plan on recording the wedding from the BBC and watching the festivities when I get up next Friday.
-
Wishing you & your family a wonderful holiday, Martin! I'll watch Kate & Wills take their vows too. So sad that Diana isn't here to watch her oldest get married.
