The BBC released this composite image of all the Doctors which places John Hurt's War Doctor in the place implied by recent episodes: http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/71311000/jpg/_71311682_a474732b-dd1d-45db-aa9c-4acbce1e7b29.jpg From this article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-25076912 Which announces a Guinness Book Of Records world record for the global simulcast. I love the whole Doctor "Family" connections. There's a side film available called The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot
Which is a fun film following the effort of Doctors Four, Five and Six and various others, to appear in the 50th Anniversary show. Briefly we see Peter Davison call in a favour from his daughter Georgia - formerly Georgia Moffat - starred in the episode The Doctor's Daughter. Now married to David Tennant after meeting him filming that episode. She appears in the film apparently giving birth to their child. But the end credits list her under her married name Georgia Tennant as the producer of the whole shebang. Small - and much loved - world So glad she's still connected. Martin -
Was John Hurt the "War Doctor" or "Warrior Doctor?"

In the prequel episode you rightly observe the eighth Doctor played by Paul McGann is asked by the Sisterhood of Khan to choose his transformation form , fat or thin, man or woman, fast or strong, wise or angry? - and he elects for "Warrior".
However at the end John Hurt is credited as the "War Doctor" and it's that term used in BBC media and credits everywhere else as well. I thought Warrior as well until I saw the BBC credits. Martin -
You know it could be that the listing was wrong! Someone else I know thought it was Warrior too. Someone should write to them and ask about it!

MartinThat video was one of the funniest things I've ever seen! I laughed out loud many times! When David's wife is giving birth and he cuts off their phone conversation and looks about quizzically--so freakin' funny! And when they look in John Barrowman's van and recoil! "Don't tell anyone!" (that he's really not gay and has a wife & kids!!) Priceless! I noticed a Sean Pertwee listed (must be Jon's son?)

Okay, I just watched that short video you posted and they both clearly say Warrior (and they said Warrior in The Day Of The Doctor) So whoever did the credits is an idiot! I'm sure they'll get letters from plenty of fanboys and fangirls!

Sean Pertwee (born 4 June 1964) is an English actor. He is the son of actor Jon Pertwee and his second wife Ingeborg Rhoesa.

I went to see it tonight. It was showing in theaters. About 1/3 full for a late-night showing. I loved it. The final scene is somewhat breathtaking. I could hear people sobbing during the red-button scene. Can't wait for the Christmas special! P.S. - I laughed uncontrollably when the fez popped up (each time).

The enormity of the world simulcast is just striking home. Amazing that the BBC prevented leaks and copies getting out ahead of the event as they had to "let go" of the film to get it translated/overdubbed and close-captioned into a large variety of languages. Here's the BBC Doctor Who blog about the event stats: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho/articles/Doctor-Who-50th-Anniversary-draws-a-peak-audience Slightly partisan of course Still looking for the article that brought me that factoid about the translations etc Ah, here it is:
Tim Davie, from BBC Worldwide, said: "We knew we were attempting something unprecedented in broadcast history, not only because Doctor Who is a drama, unlike a live feed event such as a World Cup football match or a royal wedding, but because we had to deliver the episode in advance to the four corners of the world so that it could be dubbed and subtitled into 15 different languages. "If there was any doubt that Doctor Who is one of the world's biggest TV shows, this award should put that argument to rest". The global broadcast included 3D screenings in more than 1,500 cinemas in 94 countries - from Russia to Ethiopia.

MartinMartin, please explain that last sentence.
-
The image of Clara holding the table decoration - a Xmas Cracker might be seen as somewhat of a double entendre. Besides the visually obvious table decoration - a "cracker" is a known euphemism in the UK for an attractive female that one might wish to "pull" - get to know more personally. However I've since googled the word and it's American meaning which is apparently a racist remark harking back to the slave trade is not in anyway related to my remark and observation about the picture. Even the BBC in it's blurb uses another use of the word - again as a play on words that the Xmas Episode is going to be a "Cracker":
4: British informal, a fine example of something:don?t miss this cracker of a CD an attractive person, especially a woman: you look a cracker
If this is an example of a phrase or word failing to carry it's meaning well across the Atlantic then I apologise for any unintended upset. Martin
-
No, I wasn't upset. I know the meaning in your country is different than mine. I just didn't get it. Thanks for explaining. For Americans & others who are lost: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracker_(pejorative)

The Time of the Doctor, LOVED every minute of this special! My girls and I were unsuccessful in holding back the tears. Looking forward to seeing this one again at midnight! Hope everyone is enjoying the Doctor Who marathon - thank you, BBCA!

The regeneration was weird though. He gets young and then *poof* he's instantly the new guy (who I don't like how he looks--sorry, but David Tennant was my Doctor and I grew to like Matt, but it will take a lot for me to warm up to Peter Capaldi)
-
I couldn't get over the feeling of impending doom for Matt's Doctor. Just because I knew it was coming. The further it went on, the more I realized there was less time with him, and that got the emotions swirling. I really liked it. I'm not sure if I loved it, but I really liked it. The last 10 minutes are wonderfully done, and probably my favorite. Matt's final lines to Clara felt like the moral of his story...and that's when I started to sob a little Anyway, I think Capaldi should be able to give the show a bit of distinction. The 'new' show is, afterall, gonna be 9 years old. I've always been a stickler for continuity, and while no one is perfect, I'm constantly distracted that Capaldi's already played someone else on the show with Tennant. I wonder if that's gonna come back in some interesting way... And a long way away it is! Gonna take forever for next series!
-
I must admit the regeneration Christmas special was a let down
