Would LOVE to be in attendance for this: https://www.oscars.org/events/rebecca-premiere-new-4k-digital-restoration
I don't know what 4K is but sounds great! I wonder if it will be shown on TCM.
Hey (((Dave)))! Hope all is well! Just to help out...4k is 4,000 pixel High Definition. It is the latest upgrade from 1080p high definition. It is 4 times as sharp...and some phone cameras have it now as well.

Thanks for asking, SurSteven. I'm OK. I think high def is getting to the point where reality is a disappointment.

Was amazed to discover "Funny Face" with Audrey Hepburn will be shown at a little theater called "The Stage" in my tiny toy town. Free of charge. Also "Coal Miner's Daughter" a while later. I hope they do that more.
Awesome! I hope you have an opportunity to see some great films on the big screen which will be especially nice in a small theater - enjoy!
SusyLuvsPaul:
I want to see the remake of "Far From the Madding Crowd" with Carey Mulligan, after seeing the trailor on a DVD. She has three different men after her! She looks delightful in this. She's a good little actress.
LOVE Carey Mulligan as Daisy in The Great Gatsby and thought she delivered an outstanding performance as Maud Watts in Suffragette. Susy, if you have not yet already seen Suffragette, when convenient, check it out! You will be impressed with Carey's strong performance.

Immediately wondered the same, my fingers are crossed! I am also hoping for a screening in theaters.

Brilliant, Dave!

Saw "Suffragette" trailer on a DVD too, and this film looks quite impressive and important from a human rights/ feminist perspective. (The movie looks very well made, as well.) I hadn't realized those women actually threw bombs !! They meant business !! They were going to get the vote or bust
-
I saw Charlie Chaplin's City Lights in Jerusalem last month. I've always thought of Chaplin as a comedian, but that last scene has some of the best dramatic acting I've ever seen.

I LOVE Gone With the Wind along with The Wizard of Oz! These are still two of my most favorite movies of all-time.

Gone With the Wind is still the highest grossing movie of all time, even after 70 years, no superheroes and absolutely 0mb of computer animation.

Brilliant films! You have something in common with Doris (also from San Antonio), she LOVES The Wizard of Oz (and Fiddler on the Roof).

Fridays in July... Star of the Month: Olivia de Havilland 39 films including: Gone with the Wind The Snake Pit The Heiress To Each His Own LOVED celebrating Olivia's 100th birthday back on the 1st with the airing of among other films, Gone with the Wind. There is a beautiful tribute to Olivia by Robert Osborne currently running on TCM, catch it if you can! Looking forward to tonight's airing of The Snake Pit, The Heiress, and To Each His Own. LOVE all three of these films in which Olivia delivers brilliant performances! Olivia brought home Oscars for her performances in both The Heiress and To Each His Own, also receiving a nomination for her performance in The Snake Pit. I will be up late tonight!
-
I appreciate de Havilland's quietly intense acting style, but prefer her sister Joan Fontaine's which is more sensitive and vulnerable (although Olivia embodied those traits as Melanie in GWTW). Love Joan in "Jane Eyre" and "Rebecca" especially
-
^ Both sisters are fabulous, LOVE Joan Fontaine, one of my favorites! ? Favorite performances delivered by Joan: Rebecca Jane Eyre Suspicion Favorite performances delivered by Olivia: Gone with the Wind The Heiress The Snake Pit Catch Olivia this evening as TCM's Star of the Month!

Those were the good old days when we used to hide in the trunk and sneak in! We used to go to different cars and meet different people. We used to sneak in booze. It was a great time indeed!

They were great days, however, not sure if the would work where I live, anyway. People would be so whining about the speakers etc etc. I wonder if they still have drive ins in other parts of the country?

I know there are still Drive-in theaters in Sacramento and Los Angeles, California as well as San Antonio. I haven't been to a drive-in theater in years! The last time I was at a drive-in theater, I was lighting and shooting bottle rockets at the screen!

Hi l2t! Fortunately the drive-in lives on! When our travel situation permits, my children and I try to work in a drive-in visit. They are still very cool! Perhaps these links may be helpful: http://www.driveinmovie.com/mainmenu.htm http://www.driveintheater.com/drivlist.htm
