Hi Anita!
Hi John!
Hello again Anita! How are you doing today?

Hello again, John! Thank you for asking, I am great on this beautiful winter day! I hope all is well on your end! Just finished watching Gene Kelly sing and dance in the rain - fabulous! Hard to fathom Gene having a reported fever of 103?F during the shooting of this scene:

Great thread Anita!! Gene Kelly had a 103? fever!!! I love that rain scene, what a great actor to be able to do that scene so joyously, while that sick! Enjoy your posts and they always remind me to catch some great movies!!

Gene Kelly was a professional. When you had a job to do, you did it. That's how it was back then. Donald O'Connor almost gave himself a heart attack, but the show went on.

A very very small thing - I will write it all the same. I get a kick out of seeing Alfred Hitchcock Walking past a main character... Seeing someone in the background that I saw in another movie or television part first - this applies to my sampling Some of these movies ... And the style and cadence that just Cannot be duplicated like the Original. And plain and simply some good character development... Where you like, dislike, fall in love or Want to run away from ... Stirring you up and making you Want to see what's next. This was an exciting post

In a James Garner autobiography, he said he turned down the disgraced minister/bus driver role in "Night of the Iguana" because "that was way too much Tennessee Williams for me" (LOL). That movie. Can't really imagine anyone but Richard Burton in that, anyway. I guess the weirdest most "out there" flick Garner ever was in was that good one about the UFO abduction. Nonetheless, he was quite a hottie, and an effective thespian. I still wish he had appreciated Tennessee Williams more.

Some Judy fans in an uproar over news Renee Zellweger will play Garland in a new movie or at least play Garland in her later years. She was only 47 when she passed away.

Just saw a 75th anniversary screening of "Casablanca." Had somehow never seen it, and was so glad my first experience of it was on a big screen in an nice theater. What a great, great, movie. I'd never seen Ingrid Bergman except on TV, and had no idea of the way she just lights up the screen when ever she's on. And of course, Bogie, the one and only. What a great, great movie.

Hi Bruce, So happy to read about your experience at the 75th anniversary screening of Casablanca and how wonderful that your first time seeing this film was on the big screen. My daughter and I were also at this screening and LOVED every minute! We agree, Ingrid lights up the screen magnificently! ? If you have never seen Notorious, when convenient, do check it out as the same lovely light shines through Ingrid in that film as well:
