I rented "Hot Pursuit" starring Reese Witherspoon and Sophia Vergara. Those two made this action comedy adventure buddy film quite amusing in parts, and it was very well-acted to be what it was--everyone involved inspired by Reese and Sophia. Reminded me of how great Sigourney Weaver was in the Alien movies she largely carried herself. A female in action films raises that genre up higher, they're dynamite in them--more effective than male stars. Ditto for this "Hot Pursuit" buddy movie. These two ladies, especially Reese but Vergara held her own with her, rendered a fairly standard action buddy film worth a look see. I'm gonna see "Being John Malkovitch" and "Tiny Furniture" with Lena Dunham tonight. Got a great big DVD collection 'cause of not having cablevision, presently.

Saw "The 100 Foot Journey" Marvelous! --with Helen Mirren, Manish Dayal, Om Puri and produced by Steven Speilberg and Oprah Winfrey and a Diablo Cody indie "Paradise" starring Julianne Hough, Octavia Spencer, and Russell Brand, which was worth a view. Today we will rent Will Farrell's new comedy "Get Hard" and a Nicole Kidman Aussie drama and "Aloha" with Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Emma Stone and Bill Murray and the new Nicholas Sparks movie with Clint Eastwood's son (Mainly 'cause of Eastwood's dishy son).

The Nicole Kidman Joseph Finnes Aussie film "Strangerland" is a well-acted chilling tragedy. "Get Hard" was hilarious in spots--very non-P.C. though and prepare for some rough raunchy talk that burns your ears. I saw "Ride" a Helen Hunt film that was touching--she wrote and directed. "No Way Jose" a miner indie effort with Joseph Goldberg, mildly amusing. Since seeing the wonderful "The 100 Foot Journey" it got me in the mood to rent "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" which I plan to, soon. I plan to rent a Chris Evans Michelle Monaghan romantic comedy and "Love and Mercy" about the Beach Boys. Looking forward to renting "Pitch Perfect 2" and "Spy" mixing that up with more profound meaningful fare.

"Aloha" is special--kind of screwball (I love screwball) and I finally perceived what the fuss is about over Emma Stone. Bradley Cooper and Rachel MacAdams are also charming in this, and John K. married to Emily Blunt, can't spell his surname. Bill Murray adds a lot, as a baddie. Have recently really enjoyed the "Night at the Museum" flicks. Starring Ben Stiller

"Pitch Perfect 2" is very enjoyable and entertaining! Almost insanely entertaining, certain parts. Love it when they all sing a capella. I look forward to renting "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" and also the movie about David Foster Wallace the writer, coming out soon on DVD. And "Magic Mike 2" I must confess ops: A lot or most of it filmed in Myrtle Beach, S.C., my old stomping grounds. I anticipate seeing "Spy" with Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law coming out on DVD Oct. 27.

"Love And Mercy" is an amazing music bio pic of Brian Wilson, Beach Boys leader and genius--makes you hurt for him due to family tragedies and traumas, and be happy for him as his inspiring creative process in the recording studio unfolds before you--Paul Dano captures the younger Brian with a great deal of charm and empathy and sensitivity--ditto John Cusack as the grown Brian who is gentle and sweet, and beleaguered. Elizabeth Banks' character helps free him from his greedy, deluded and control freak "legal guardian" and shrink effectively depicted by Paul Giamatti. Wilson is hailed as a genius and rightfully so. A reference to the Fabs is made, about the two bands' good-natured rivalry to top each other, and Paul McCartney's great regard for Brian's song "God Only Knows" is remarked upon.
