I hear a bell ringing A lovely story, and an idea to pass on to others...
Every time a bell rings, an angel get it's wings.....love that movie, love this story
Love this move too, one of the greatest ever. James Stewart is brilliant. And yes, nice story.
Hey, It's a Wonderful Life is my fav movie ever. But I don't see the connection.
Good grief. If you really NEED a connection that bad... - Clarence received his wings when George finally saw/felt the joy he had brought to others.

We're usually the ones who are generous with others & this isn't something that happens to us.
Connection made

Angels walk on earth but we don't always realize it.

Totally off the wall ...... years ago .... a friend of mine and I were writing a song .... he wrote the lyrics and I put the melody to his song ..... The lyrics were nice ..... and as I was reading them he wrote: You're like a beautiful angle to me I knew he meant to write Angel Nothing in this world could replace you Sometimes the Angels are thoughts or memories that come to you at a time when you need a smile

Hey, It's a Wonderful Life is my fav movie ever. But I don't see the connection.
They are calling the person in the story an angel, figuratively.
yes, I know that, but I don't see the connection of the behaviour of that person and being an angel... more like being Santa Claus.
The word angel literally means...messenger...and within the context of the stories...someone is acting like a messenger of love and goodness.
I believe in Angels. I know I have met a very few in my life and they are messengers of Love. It is good to know Angels exist, and in this world of seemingly coldhearted people you might meet somedays, there are those kind thoughts of those loving interactions that help me carry on.

I got to play the part of an earth angel/good samaratin one winter evening when I first came online a little over 9 years ago. It was very mystical. I'll share it if anyone's interested.

Am up sipping coffee out of my new Beatle mug and trying to recall all of the details...I remember now, that it actually was...Christmas Eve of 2004. I don't recall any cow bells or other bells although...but, it was pretty mystical! It was around 7 or 8 at night...dark outside...and a cold 20 degreesF...I was on the computer for awhile when I suddenly felt compelled to go for a drive. I didn't know where or why, but I just got in my car and headed west through town...made a loop through the downtown old market area and then drove south until I got onto the interstate and headed back east. As I approached the interstate exit about 3 miles south of where I lived, I could see the dimly flashing lights of an SUV parked along the shoulder at the top side of the ramp. I pulled up ahead of the vehicle and walked back to see a young mother sitting in the passenger seat with about an 18 month old baby in a car seat in the back seat. She rolled down the window and told me that her and her husband were on the way to his folks house and had ran out of gas. She had asked him to stop sooner, but he thought that they could make it a little farther. I told her I would wait in my car until he got back from walking to the truckstop to get some gas in case they needed a jump start and to make sure they got going ok. After about 20 minutes I could see him walking up the ramp with a gas can in his hand. I jump started their suv with my jumper cables and when the engine started he thanked me sincerely and I felt compelled to tell him considerig that it was Christmas Eve...to remember that...The Law came by Moses...but, Love came by Jesus... He said that he believed that too. As we closed the hood, I could see his young wife sitting there with tears of joy in her eyes and glanced over to see that the baby was ok. I got back into my car and drove down to the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp and turned to the right. As I looked back to make sure that they had got going ok, they had just pulled up to the stop sign. I could see the young mother thrusting forward and back in her seat as though her prayers had been answered. It brought tears to my eyes then...as is doing the same right now.

Wow, that is a beautiful story SurSteven. It made my heart feel really good. Thank you for sharing. I like the part about Moses and Jesus too.

Great story Sur Steven... and the great part is that you were "called" to go out... It was so good that you followed your feelings to go out in 20ยบ weather too!! Very mystical if you ask me... that part of us that operates on the subconscious signs.
-
Glad you went with your inner feeling SurSteven as I am sure they were Thanks for sharing it here

You were definitely THEIR angel that night The reward is in the doing. Right?
-
Anyone who performs a random act of kindness any time of the year is an angel.

A long time ago .... My car died in an area away from everything. Farm area. One or two farms owned lots and lots of property. It is all express way - and usually no problem driving through the whole area. I started walking on the shoulder area of the express way. It was before I had a cell phone - they did exist - I just didn't think it was worth having one. (Later this would be the reason that I bought my first cell phone - a pay as you go - emergency only at first then casual - then using as a regular phone). I do not hitch hike and did not try to then either. I kept walking and walking. It was cold. I was going to walk to a place that I worked then. (Maybe 12 to 15 miles away). I kept walking and cars kept passing. I expected that. I was getting colder and tired and feeling bad about the car problems I knew that the engine was gone - it lost power and made a loud noise. So I had lots of time to walk and wallow in my sadness. Far into the walk a guy stopped. Should I get in a strangers car? Nobody would know that I am gone. I have heard stories about this stuff. I was tired and bummed out enough to take the chance. I looked at him with a bit of hesitancy and he looked at me - unsure too. (I could guess that). He asked a few questions about my car. He saw that I was bummed out by the car problems and took the chance. I got in his car. He started driving. I did have a lot of thoughts going through my mind. What do I do and how do I get out of this if he has a gun or knife or is some strange person who might do something out of whack. After some talk of the car problems and where I was trying to walk to ... He tells me that he was going into a ministry of some kind. He said, "If I can't help someone out who looks like they need help - then I shouldn't go into that line of work." So he also did not pick up hitch hikers. He hands me a business card. I looked at it - it had his name - the ministry and Angel wings on the card. If I had to have a stranger give me a ride - I felt that this person appeared trustworthy. (Although with this situation I was still on guard). I told him that he could drop me off at one of the exits and that I would walk to the place that I worked. (And call people for a ride from there). He insisted that he take me to the building. I said that he didn't need to and that I did not want him to go out of his way. He did take me to the parking lot and to the door of the business. I offered to give him something for all his trouble. Even a donation to his ministry if he didn't want it .... I think the reward he got was for taking the chance and helping someone out. I am thankful for someone that took the chance. Thanks for letting me share this. My thank you to that Angel that day.
