So... why aren't you here?
-
Thanks Claudia. Not my pictures unfortunately. I haven't uploaded ours yet, so nicked these off a tourist site. But it's a gorgeous place and just perfect for today's summer sunshine. Our kids and my sister's kids had great fun following a "treasure" trail round the grounds while we enjoyed the views, history, trees, shrubs and flowers. We hadn't been before, but chose it because it's half-way between where my sister and my Dad live and our house. They only recommend 3 adults maximum on that bridge at any one time! The house and estate has an interesting history. Built around 300 years ago for the Earl of Coventry and his family, it was the first major project for famous and pioneering landscape gardener "Capability" Brown. The Earl's descendants lived there until the 1940s, when it was used in the Second World War as a miltary base and later sold to the Catholic Church as a school for disadvantaged children in the late 1940s. For 5 years in the 80s it was a Hare Krishna centre, before being used as a conference centre for around 15 years. It's now owned by the National Trust and being restored to its former glory for the nation to enjoy.

too much work and too many activities with the boys...but I'm back now!
-
Birthday, what gorgeous pix! Ta for sharing! I haven't been here 'cos I was busy running errands & working.
-
With all these storms we've been having, well I won't get online in a storm! That's not a good idea...if ya know what I mean?!!
-
pics are beautiful - thank you so much for sharing!!!
-
i got off on those pix, thanks a gazillion o, would that i were there in person soaking in the olde sod. maybe someday. i take hope in the saying 'there will always be an england' -- it ain't goin' anywheres. i'm here right now on a library puter in a charming little southern u.s.a. village which boasts a black water river running thru it. i don't have a puter set up where i live now as my situation too often feels precarious (it's a long roller coaster, sometimes harrowing story). that's why i'm not online near as often as formerly. i miss it. oh lordy i miss it. (especially my sweet darlin' paul's place )
-
we're with you, here, SuzyLuvsPaul. i can certainly relate!!!
