Two new long, big books from the library..."The Kennedy Heirs" (I've read oodles of books about the Kennedys, and this one seems pretty much just a rehash); and a thick new biography on Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. I hope it'll be juicy. I've read a bunch of new novels lately. I can read books pretty quickly. If it's something really good, I like to go more slowly. We don't have T.V. and are always insatiable for more books. More, more, more ! Carly Simon is coming out with a new book about her friendship with Jackie Kennedy Onassis, this October, which is also when Elton John's new autobiography will appear. The last good movie star autobiography I read was "In Pieces" by Sally Field. Actress Demi Moore has a new one out soon. Michael Caine and Bryan Cranston have short new tomes out about themselves. I leafed through a big thick one about funny man Mel Brooks. I checked one out by Tony Curtis. And one about actress Dorothy Dandridge. I read smarty pants Chelsea Handler's new book called "Life Will Be the Death of Me (and you, too)." A new novel by Stewart O'Nan about a 75 year old Pittsburgh man, "Henry Himself"was a good read. I have the newish "Big Magic" by Elizabeth Gilbert and one by Marianne Williamson called "The Law of Divine Compensation" about "work and money." I checked out a big biography of Steven Tyler's band Aeorsmith. I have the new novel "White Elephant" to read and a novel that won the Pulitzer Prize called "Less: A Novel" by a gifted young gay author. I borrowed the new one "Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of 'The View'". I read a memoir by Laura Munson, "A Season of Unlikely Happiness." I read Anne Beattie's new novel. And more. Anne Tyler's new novel "Clock Dance" was absorbing.
-
I also recently read Olivia Newton John's new autobiography, and a new one from "Spice Girl" Mel B. The contrast between the two books and the two singers made my head spin (I perused these about the same time). Olivia's was cheery, upbeat, completely positive presenting an unfailingly wholesome image (but I didn't think she was faking it) while Mel B.'s told the torrid tale of a very wild, out of control (yet still somehow warm and endearing) wild woman who was no stranger to drugs and kinky sex.

Leonardo The Complete Paintings Taschen ~ Frank Zöllner
A beautiful book that includes the latest "found" painting Christ as Salvador Mundo ~ 1507 Which is an exquisite painting and my new fav.
For Joni Mitchell fans, Costco has a great Christmas prezzie gift almost half price of list.
Joni Mitchell Morning Glory on the Vine
One year , for Christmas, Joni put together a binder of her handwritten lyrics and poems, along with paintings, for her Hollywood friends. It also is so beautifully done and comes in a box. During evacuations for the California fires, she noticed her friends had put that binder on their items to take with them. She was inspired to put together the book for all of us.
Note: Joni considers herself as a painter, over a musician. She has many GORGEOUS paintings from her years of painting. Would pay a lot for a book of her paintings!
Of course this made me think of Paul and his paintings, and how wonderful it would be to see some of Paul's paintings along with his lyrics and poems! Specially a few of my favs like Robot Star the face in the Mountain, some of his scratch paintings like Black Scratch, the Queen would probably be Her Majesty, Egypt Station of course...so many possibilities...
I know he's busy with the screenplay...

Just finished two horror books; Stephen Kings' "The Institute" and Gregg Jarrett's "Witch Hunt". Both scared the bajeebees out of me. Unfortunately, one of those books isn't fiction.

Do you mean see them in person, or in a book? He does have a book out of his paintings (Called "Paintings") that came out in 2000.

The Taschen book is the 2019 expanded edition which marks the 500th anniversary of Leonard's death.
I've seen a number of Leonard's paintings in the Louvre, the Hermitage, and studies for paintings, in other museums. The Christ as Salvador Mundo has not been on display since it was sold in auction by Christies in 2017.

You didn't answer my question - I was talking about Paul's book.

Oh sorry, I do have that book of Paul's called Paintings and have followed info on the exhibit in the Heather years, gallery exhibition. I've tried to keep copies of paintings that I've seen online, when I've come across them or see them in a photo. I'm thinking there's got to be a lot more? Are there other exhibitions that you know of? I love the Painting on Egypt Station and the related ones...Im so curious about when they were painted! Specially the one on the Get Enough Video and the other ones on singles, like the fertility figure and the guy, the sunflowers and the clouds .

Prince The Beautiful Ones. This is the memoir Prince started writing before his death.
Such a beautifully done book. Lots and lots of photos, handwritten pages, cards, pins and other bits and bobs that meant something to Prince. A great holiday or Birthday gift for you or the Prince fan in your life.

Wow 60 pounds... He really deserved to to be paid extremely well carrying that heavy and surely claustrophobic costume around. Then there's the matter of it's head spinning. Hope it had the Disneyland type air conditioning as well!

A Warning ~ Anonymous, A senior Trump Administration Official.
A must read about the daily chaos in tbe WH a real page turner and the incredulous diversions and leaking from everywhere, due to worry about how our country is being lead. Compared to walking a cliffs edge..." staff who developed a bizzare sense of fraternity, like bank-robber hostages lying on the floor at gunpoint, unable to sound the alarm, but aware that everyone else was stricken with the same fear of the unknown".
Most shocking thoughts and revelations so far.
-" It was getting ugly. As the old saying goes, this was no way to run a railroad. In fact, if railroads were run this way, trains would go in the wrong direction, or never show up at all, or crash into each other. The conductor would be unqualified, the engineer would be fired in the middle of a trip, and Chinese built trains would zip right by us, watching the disaster with wonder at their unbelievable good fortune".
- " Trump was all over the place. He was like a twelve-year-old in an air traffic control tower, pushing the buttons of government indiscriminately, indifferent to the planes skidding across the runway and the flights frantically diverting away from the airport. This was not how it was supposed to be"
