Next by Michael Crichton. It's a genetic sci-fi thriller and the least linear of all of Crichton's novels. It's interesting and raises some provocative questions about genetic engineering and the patenting of genes. This is the third time I've read it.

Kahlessa, you are in a great field, being a bookseller! Do you have time here & there to read anything while on the job? I frequent a few book traders & enjoy browsing & trading. I keep a flip pad with a list of favorite authors & discover new ones when searching for interesting books.
I can't read while I'm working but I do read a great deal during my breaks and when I get off work. I'm constantly discovering new books and printing out the information on them. But the most insidious thing about working in a bookstore is the employee discount. I buy so many books I should be wearing a shirt that says "Will work for books!"

I just finished Eric's book, so sad in parts, but yes, so incredible, and a very happy ending. I read Patti's book just before Eric's,so it was kind of strange at times, reading about some of the same things, but from each of their views.

Anyone heard of "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis? I don't believe in God and I'm not a strong (but not outright) disbeliever in Christianity, but this book is amazing.

We sell it all the time at my bookstore. I know there's an audio version read by John Cleese.

I just picked this book up for the first time in years! LOVE The Screwtape Letters! I used to teach a class on this book during Lent, but haven't done that in years either! It is an amazing piece of work! I thought of posting about it here, but didn't think there would be any interest. Thanks for that!

have about 6 pages left of the ghost map by steven johnson. wow. steven johnson is gifted, is all i can say. he basically looks at where we are today and ties it to the cholera epidemic in london in the 1850's - relating to the work at that time of two men. if you want an intriguing read, go for it. can't say it is easy - and facinating for sure.

I'm reading Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind by Ann B. Ross. It's about a proper Southern lady who discovers after her husband's death that he had a few secrets. It's hysterical and made both my mother and I laugh out loud. Just a delight to read! It's the first book in a series of about six or seven novels. They're are especially funny if you are from the South or know people from the South
