How is Atlas Shrugged going for you? Tried so hard to read that, but couldn't for some reason. Don't know why. Loved her Anthem, though. That's what I'll read next. It's been about long enough. Thanks.

I enjoyed Atlas Shrugged. I have to admit in the beginning chapters .... I thought of putting it down and reading it when my concentration would be stronger .... I stuck with it and then could not put it down. When I finished the book -- I missed it and the characters .... after spending so many days and hours reading .... wanting to read more each day .... and then it was done.

Wu speaks of matter/energy... and Li to the organic patterns in life? I watched some vids on the book and author this morning. Great stuff! He's quite the visionary!

I like to read several books at once. At the moment I'm reading The Maltese Falcon, Double Indemnity, and The Fire. I would like to point out that The Fire (2008; set mainly in 2003), by Kathrine Nevell, is a sequel to her debut book The Eight (1988; set mainly in 1973). I have read many, many, many books throughout my life but, without exaggeration, The Eight is by far the best historical thriller/mystery/conspiracy novel I've read. I might even go as far as to say it might be the best book I have ever read (this might be partially due to my love of the genre['s])... I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of books that make Alfred Hitchcock's films seem boring... For those that are to start reading The Eight, I would like to point out that the first 30 pages, or so, are very slow paced. After that, the plot begins to weave the intricate web that thickens with each addicting chapter. I would also like to point out that you should have a general knowledge of history (such as The American Revolution, The French Revolution, The Napoleonic Era, Imperial Russia, The Soviet Union, and the Era of Emperor Charlemagne), geography (particularly western Europe, the 13 original American Colonies, Northern Africa, The Middle East, and the former USSR), and Chess (mainly the name of the pieces, what they each do, how they move, and how Bobby Fischer became world champion) before starting. Has anyone else read any of her books?

Glad to hear you had the same experience, but persevered. Also glad to hear it gets THAT good. Maybe I should try again.
