I remember them announcing that over the intercom in school as a kid. Very sad period of time indeed! The Beatles came along in timely fashion to help bail us out of a national depression. If you ever get a chance to watch CNN's Documentary called THE SIXTIES, it covers many things very well, including JFK's death.

I just read the new books "Funny Girl" by Brit Nick Hornby set in the early 60s swinging England about a BBC series with a Lucy Ball-like star, "American Ghost" about the early days of Santa Fe, "Dietland" a wild World According to Garp-like farce by Sarai Walker, the new novel by Judy Blume "In the Unlikely Event"based on real catastrophes in her hometown in the early 195os, "The Rocks" novel about rich jetsetters in Spain, am reading a new memoir "Bettyville," and a biography of Bette Davis, among others.

I read the new thrillers the American novel "Luckiest Girl Alive" and the British novel "The Girl on a Train" which will be made into a movie. A movie based on "Luckiest Girl Alive" would be very painful to see. Not that it's ever not painful to see someone being murdered, even if it's "just pretend" on screen.
