First post, great forum, very informative! What a phantastic evening with an even better ending. We had FLR2 front row seats, so we where very lucky to be really close to him. He seemed to have a good time and interacted nicely with the crowd. When he joked about them showing off their guitars he actually talked to me (well at least he made eye contact) , when he said "you would do it, right.....". It was just unbelievable. And that was not the end of it. After the 2nd encore when leaving the stage, Paul stopped right in front of us and told his security guy to hand him the CD cover I was holding up to him. He signed it, waved at us and gave it back to the security guy. So yes, we got the only autograpg he gave that evening. At least the only one he gave while on stage. What a phantastic ending of a phantastic evening, I was so wound up, I couldn't sleep all night. If anybody here on the forum has a picture or video of the moment he signed the my CD case, PLEASE share it with me! Thanks! Here is a picture of the case and one more of Paul. Here: Two unreasably big pictures
Loved reading your story! Love the picture of Paul with the Epiphone Casino You're one lucky fan!

i saw him sign your cd case on the giant screens onstage...ooooooh what a concert, i'm still buzzing, as if he sprinkled some of his star dust on me...i've got to save up in order to afford a sound check of his, to observe his genuis at a closer view as he prepares for the show--in charlotte i was told he was there as long as three or four hours getting ready, on stage practicing with the band and his various crews --i wonder if you get to be there that entire time if you bought the sound check package oooooh he showed such personality at the concert, he was vivacious, exuberant, funny, witty, warm, he was everything and if you've missed seeing him live, you've missed everything
-
he's so handsome too somebody mentioned 'i've just seen a face,' it was utterly amazing, they're rendition in charlotte, full on 'folk rock' and not just a folk song as in the original version (which wasn't too shabby, either) it was a revelation

...that would be MY batteries!!! recharging now....... sorry my Charlotte photos are taking so long [but I may be saving the best for last]- damn day job - real life stuff, - band practice - and we have a spay and neuter clinic Up and Coming too! but check out this little video the daughter of my friend made about the day Paul came to Charlotte......
Peace and Love; Spay and Neuter! -

what a lovely flower shirt he's sporting, oh honestly i could just about die. i can't believe i saw him live in person, man thank you for those pix, you're a peach 'let me roll it' was a revelation too, live, lord it washed over you in waves of bliss and harkened back to his early classics in kind of a rockabilly style, and when eleanor rigby suddenly bursts out in a big auditory wave of glory, man it's quite something...and 'something' was quite something (giddy laugh) oooooh he can really tear that up and his naughty rocker 'helter skelter' really rocked, as you might imagine, and 'back in the u.s.s.r' and just everything sounded creamy dreamy and just perfect--you know how bad some bands sound live, well, paul and band don't have that problem (understatement i nearly broke down in hot tears at 'let it be.' paul sang that with total conviction and feeling as if it were the first time he'd ever sang it

What a great show. Out of the dozen times I've seen him, this has to be the best over all performance. The flow of the show was spot on - and "Ram On" made my night. Rick - you've seen him more than anyone here (or anywhere I believe) - how did this performance rank with the other shows you've seen on this tour?

Anyone notice Paul dresses to the left? Maybe only the guys will understand that one but the girls should get a kick out of it Plus, it's still cool to hear some unreleased instrumentals from Paul as we're waiting for the show. He's been using them since 1993 and I wish he would release them already. Anyone from around Greenville/upstate SC?
I don't know if it's unreleased instrumentals. In Arnhem, December 9th 2009, he used mashups. I believe.
The mashups are during the pre-show film. The unreleased music is during the pre-show music being played before the film. It was the usual unreleased songs like "A Quite Moment" and "Righteous". Piano instrumentals...

I know you're not asking me..but I'm pretty sure Nashville owned them all. The best in my book, anyway.

Another question for Rick, how many times have you seen Paul in concert??? I know its a huge number.

I don't like to compare performaces - kinda makes it like keeping score, like sports, religion and politics, where there are losers at every event - where with Macca, Pauly shows up, everyone wins!..........BUT, I have to rank that Nashville show as one of the top tier shows of all......up there with Wings '76 [ never any better than the first time...] and the Joint ;} in Vegas [most intense for sure] and Dublin last winter - best crowd ever. In Nash he was obviously having such fun, band tight as usual, but really on fire, set list, and great crowd too --- and personal bits, I went to school just outside Nashville, so kinda like a home-town show for me, born in TN, myself, the Carl Perkins connections etc......{Carl is The King}......and having so many friends in the audience, too, including my Little Sister, her husband and my cool niece and nephew all singing Give Peace a Chance together! And the number of shows I have seen doesn't really matter, and the number is not that huge anyway....... but the second show in Philly will be number [size=7]100

Why was Nashville better than Charlotte? The setlist is basically the same, was he better vocally?

That's awesome Rick. Thanks for the input.

in the wonderful pre-show slide show of mainly pix from the sixties, suddenly david crosby popped up, a big pic of him but not from the sixties. he looked older. i wondered why that was there. also a big pic of nico, velvet underground singer and friend of andy warhol's gang...i wondered why he included nico. i know she was a houseguest of paul's for a while in the late 60's at his london home. i think that was nico he showed (?) did anyone else catch that?

that doesn't look like paul in the first big pic you posted, mark--the second one does, and it's fabulous. i digress, but i noticed nobody held big distracting signs up in charlotte. i saw a few small ones and one said 'meat free monday' and it was smallish too. paul told us big signs distract him from remembering the song lyrics and chords but admitted the other part of his brain says 'oh what the heck go ahead and look' (laughs) perhaps he prefers not to be distracted that way. but as ever he's still gracious
