I am so glad the election is over with I hope the rest of the population can learn to live with the idea that the Democratic party won the presidential election and that is how this eleciton works. Race should never have been an issue but it was. Now I hope we can elect to be a peace population and relax for a change love doris

The 25,000 plus in several southern states who signed a petition to "secede from the U.S." are so dumb and offensive, hope they see the acclaimed new "Lincoln" movie to see what happens when states secede from the Union "Romney is being unfriended on facebook" (LOL) Laughing at the recent big Petraeus sex scandal and General Allen scandal--very amusing many are eating this story up, just loving it

We've been discussing corporate 'personhood' on this thread. Well, looks like the Obama DOJ is getting tough on corporate 'people' finally. http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2012/nov/15/gulf-oil-spill-bp-near-settlement-us-claims/ BP to plead guilty to lying to Congress, pay record fines(in Billions!) and 2 will face manslaughter charges How's that drill baby drill working out for you now :

I don't disagree. However, I remember a past election when a significant number declared Al Gore the election winner (per popular vote) ... over 1 year post election
He won the popular vote. Everyone can accept that. It's the electoral vote that is still so controversial.

The United States has a long history of racial inequality, which pales only in comparison with its history of gender inequality. Perhaps some thought it would magically end when a black man was elected president, but looking at statistics about this month's elections, votes are divided by race and gender. The handlers want to know how whites voted, how blacks voted, how women, Asians all voted. Some candidates in other nations view the electorate as individuals capable of forming individual opinions. American candidates view the electorate by race and gender, with the assumption that each votes according to their preconceptions. One must win the Hispanic vote to win Florida, or the female vote in Massachusetts. Do all Hispanics and all women vote for the same candidates? In a land where all men, and some women, are created equal, race should be irrelevant. In the United States, it is not. A candidate need not win the most votes to be president. He needs to win the most electoral votes. This leads to campaigning statewide, not nationally. The voters in the two largest states are ignored because it is assumed they will cancel each other out. This gives people in smaller states a greater influence. When winning requires winning electoral votes rather than popular votes, it becomes easier to divide and conquer by classification rather than appeal to the most people.

From Political: BP is now a convicted felon
BP said it will pay $4.5 billion and plead guilty to 11 felony counts under a proposed settlement with the U.S. government related to the Deepwater Horizon accident that killed 11 workers and spilled nearly 5 million barrels of oil in 2010. The deal, which was announced Thursday and must be approved by a court, will resolve all federal criminal charges and claims by the Securities and Exchange Commission, but will still allow civil claims against the company to proceed. ?We believe this resolution is in the best interest of BP and its shareholders,? said Carl-Henric Svanberg, BP?s Chairman. ?It removes two significant legal risks and allows us to vigorously defend the company against the remaining civil claims.? Do you think they(and others) will be more careful & less negligent :

All I know for sure is NOTHING will replace the damage BP and Deepwater Horizon caused us on the Gulf Coast. People who really know how bad it is in the waters, with the dispersants and the oil, etc... will not get back in the water, or even walk on the beaches anymore! Much less eat the seafood! BP did not pay to buy back our property on the coast because they destroyed a way of life for generations and we no longer want to live there. BP can never replace the environment they destroyed with MONEY. All we have left there are memories of what was...and money won't replace what they did to the land and the creatures of the waters and land. Hell itself is not good enough for those who were responsible and I don't know how they sleep at night. People who believe in drilling on our beloved and pristine areas of the planet should experience what the Gulf Of Mexico has experienced and lost and they would think twice.

Clear Channel is a right-wing Republican corporation owned by Mitt Romney's Bain Capital. They are currently shutting down progressive radio programming on their stations across the US in retaliation for Romney's drubbing. I will have nothing to do with anything affiliated with Clear Channel.

That's what they always do, fix it with money... if people (I'll call them "human people") do that they don't pay it with "a fine" at all.

The United States has a long history of racial inequality, which pales only in comparison with its history of gender inequality. .
And then there's humans vs corporations inequality. Or people vs corporations. Not the USA, but everywhere. It's all the same thing really, like children vs adults Or some countries vs others... or species vs others... Those with less force vs those with bigger force.

2 are facing manslaughter charges so they will probably go to jail. Personally I think the corporation should be put out of business.

Am glad to see the little South Carolina town near mine still has all its flags up in the downtown business district which it flew to celebrate Election Day-- even after O. won. Maybe that's a sign there aren't as many racists and bigots here as one might fear. Been watching the Ed Show and Hardball with Chris Matthews and Al Sharpton's show on MSNBC, more than CNN. The latter news channel is more "objective" and "unbiased" and it's gratifying to view some unabashedly liberal shows, especially when they exhibit clips of rightys deploring Obama and Democrats' wins and before election day show rightys predicting a "landslide" win for Mittens and Ryan (LOL). "The Last Word" on MSNBC at 10 p.m. is especially "Blue State." Its announcer looks a bit patrician and preppy and yet really rips into rightys in a highly educated rather elegant manner. Gives out pithy info

This factoid just makes Obama's re-election that much sweeter: "...A study by the Sunlight Foundation found that just 1.29 percent of the nearly $104 million it spent in the general election ended with the desired result...." Big GOP donors see small return on investment: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57547103/big-gop-donors-see-small-return-on-investment/ And, by the way, whenever I use the phrase "fat-faced, creampuff m.f.s," I'm referring to people like this: http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim/2012/09/30/ArnoldExtra_KarlRove_620x350.jpg

Hey I've seen that old guy on the telly deploring Dems. At least he's not both old and dried up like a raisen, is plumpish. The Rev. Al Sharpton's so tiny now, must have resorted to weight reduction surgery. Anyways nobody's outward appearance really matters as you know, audi, it's who they are inside and all that.
