Post all the quotes you want; all it proves is that Obama was naive to think that Republicans would actually meet Democrats halfway in order to return the country to prosperity. He can't be a liar if the reason his "promises" didn't come true is the lack of cooperation from the GOP. Let me put it to you this way. If I say 'Oh, I'm going to run five miles tomorrow,' then on my way to the track you take a crow bar and whack me across the knee, it'd be pretty disingenuous to call me a liar for not being able to complete the five-mile run. But that's exactly what you're doing for holding the president accountable for inaction that's largely the blame of uncooperative Republicans. Oh, and once again, if the stimulus was so bad, why did Romney argue an even bigger stimulus was necessary at the time and why did Paul Ryan lust so hungrily after stimulus funds for his district?

Classic -- or I should say, typical -- response from a conservative: A ballsy dismissal of factually verifiable news postings in the guise of a condescending, passive-aggressive judgement of the presenter of that information... ...while not ever acknowledging the content of those postings in no shape or form. You are evading the issue (sound like anybody you know?): A lie is a lie is a lie. And Romney and Ryan are telling lies like they're gettin' paid on commission. Tea Partiers (and other knuckle-dragging elements of the conservative constituency) will argue to the death that Obama is a Muslim from Kenya -- based on virtually zero data to support that claim. However, Paul Ryan's budget accounts for and takes advantage of the exact, same $716 billion in Obama's Medicare savings. Still, with a straight face, Ryan has repeatedly been tellings his rallies of low-information voters that the President "cut $716 billion dollars from Medicare," which is wholly untrue. Not just wrong: Untrue. No wonder Republican politicians have no shame -- their constituents don't require them to.

Clint Eastwood?s speech AUGUST 30, 2012 "... They were saying, I just thought, this was great. Everybody is trying, Oprah was crying. I was even crying. And then finally -- and I haven?t cried that hard since I found out that there is 23 million unemployed people in this country."
So, what's the GOP's job-creating solution?
And why should a famous Hollywood Filmmaker, Actor propose a job making solution. It appears to me that you would rather not discuss the content of what he did say. The transcript is at the Washington Post link above ...
I have always respected Clint Eastwood's work. No need to mention his stellar list of credits and honors. But Clint's stammering, stumbling and lower-common-denominator-level performance at the RNC thing last week was an error. Even moreso of an error for the candidate -- as the prime-spot scheduling of Eastwood's telecast segment overshadowed the non-prime-spot profiles on Romney, which were very well done by most accounts. And, by the way: I'd like to emphasize that I have absolutely no problems with authentic Republicans. At all. An authentic Republican -- though I may have philosophical differences of opinion with him or her -- remains reasonable. The practice of keeping government fiscally smart, as well as embracing the idea that federal intervention should be considered only when it is prudent, comprise a value-system that I'm sure Obama wishes our current GOP would re-claim. I'll add that it seems to me like the term "conservative" has devolved into a misnomer: All that one would have to do in order to arrive at that conclusion is just observe their irresponsible budgets, deficit-increasing legislation, their unrelenting hate, fear-mongering, whoring of themselves to Wall Street and lobbyists, and filibustering the President at every turn. Can that behavior really be characterized as...conservative? If you think that George W. Bush -- the President who recklessly spent this country's surplus -- was a good President, you are not an authentic Republican. If you praise the Republican-controlled Congress, who between 2001-'07, defied the advisement of the CBO not to pass Bush's unpaid for Medicare Part D bill, Bush's unpaid for prescription drug legislation, adding nearly a trillion to the deficit with no projections to cover those costs to the tax-payers, you are not an authentic Republican. If you approve of a President who, along with Dick Chaney, all but project-managed an Iraq invasion to supposedly "liberate" and occupy a country who didn't ask for it while spending around a trillion tax-dollars to finance its re-building ... ...and intentionally left the costs out of the budget(!!!), you are not an authentic Republican. I'd like to share with you that soul-music legend James Brown was my very first hero, as important leader for black Americans are MLK... ...and he was a hard-core Republican, believe it or not. He was a believer in pride, the American dream and hard-work. He was an enterprising juggernaut at his peak, building restaurants, buying radio stations and other ventures. But he also knew that Americans needed the opportunity and the means to build such an empire. In short: Government works best when it works of the people, by the people for the people. There is no doubt in my mind that conservative high-rollers, who most likely invest in Eastwood's films, persuaded him to do that embarrassing, simple-minded performance at the RNC. Because -- as you know -- Clint did that Superbowl tv commercial where he had the shameful, unbecoming audacity...to praise the U.S. car-manufacturing industry's return to solvency. To Republicans, the ad was an inadvertent endorsement of Obama. Republicans do not "love America." They love their Party. And now, getting back to my question: What the GOP's plan to get more Americans back to work? "Jobs" is what gave control of the House back to Republicans in 2010, ya' know. Remember that hey-mr-President-where-are-the-jobs thingy that Speaker Boehner indirectly asked Obama in that press conference.

The national unemployment rate would be under 6% today if Republican governors , like Walker, hadn't been on their rampage of terminating jobs held by teachers, police officers and fire-fighters. But the U.S. Labor Department, which puts out the official government jobs data, counts 12.8 million people as unemployed -- not 23 million. Even if you add in unemployed people who are not counted in that total because they are not actively looking for work -- a category the Labor Department terms "marginally attached" -- that number rises to just over 15.3 million.

Trust me, mustangsally10: I believe that he was pressured to do it. He held his nose and did it. Why would Clint Eastwood be genuinely excited about Willard Romney? Republican voters clearly didn't want him during the primaries. If Newt Gingrich truly cared for the conservative movement, he would've gotten his plump behind out of the race, and Gingrich's voters would've put Rick Santorum comfortably in the lead. I think Romney's team asked Gingrich to stay in the primary race, although Santorum was the obviously preferred candidate. Now, the GOP is stuck with the sociopath who out-spent and out-lied all of his contenders in the Republican primaries. One would suppose that "RomneyCare" would've killed the GOP's top goal: To "repeal and replace ObamaCare." But -- nope -- the sociopath Romney lacks a conscience and is vowing to dismantle a program that is identical to his healthcare legislation during his term as governor of Massachusetts.

(one more rant) To those conservatives who continually mock Barack Obama's "Hope & Change" message of 2008: That wasn't just a slogan. The President began his term believing that both parties would roll up their sleeves and work with him to get America out of the downward spiral that his predecessor left for him. Things became obvious to me right away, when few -- if any -- Republicans honored the President's invitation to watch the 2009 Superbowl with him. However, the Republicans worked with Obama to get a much-needed stimulus package passed, saving hundreds of thousands of jobs. After that, the Republicans launched their do-nothing strategy, blocking just about everything this President has proposed -- including some of their own ideas! (the few good ones that they have) Today, we know that was the plan all along. Therefore, how can "hope and change" be achieved when only one side is consistently holding up its end of the bargain? Career-politicians like the old n' pasty Mitch McConnell, the smug and arrogant Eric Cantor and the ponzi-scheming Paul Ryan, have put their Party's interest ahead of the dire needs of this country -- and they have the b@lls to collect a pay-check. Healthcare got passed in the House and became law after months of frustrating negotiations and compromises in the Senate -- but still, Reconciliation is what got it done. The GOP worked with the President in 2010 to pass a budget -- but only if George W. Bush's tax breaks for the rich got extended, which, in turn, gave Obama some leverage, as well. And President Obama can be proud that the tax rate for the middle class is at its lowest level since the 1940s. Shamelessly discounting an averted economic depression, the GOP is asking national voters to ask themselves: "Are you better off today than you were four years ago?" Four years can be an eternity when it comes to politics, but most of us out here remember that the U.S. was losing 700,000 jobs a month; the American auto-industry was at dire risk of becoming obsolete; people's homes were foreclosing at warp speed. The country was a mess. And it is an insult to voters' intelligence to suggest that the U.S. has not improved on this President's watch. As if literally saving the country were a modest achievement. Not to mention that more jobs have been gained in Obama's first term than BOTH of Bush's terms. That is a fact. And if the Republicans will stop the filibusters, the President's Jobs Bill would employ millions of Americans right now. Infrastructure is what solidified the middle class under President Truman. And the President gets that -- presenting tax incentives that would convince the many private sector corporations that outsource millions of jobs to bring them back to American soil. The Republicans have blocked that, too. Why?

Labor Day is no holiday without a job For 23 million Americans without jobs, the Labor Day holiday is not a day off but just another day without work. It?s a fitting hash mark for the presidential campaign kickoff, reminding Americans of President Obama?s tragic failure to deliver. My previous post addresses this flawed position. The real question is: What have the Republicans done to get those 23 million unemployed workers back on the job? Quite frankly, I'm not going to hold my breath because I know that you know that the answer is nothing. ...especially, considering that Republicans are directly responsible for a significant number of them being jobless in the first place. Yet, you post one-sided articles like the above -- but can't tout what your side is doing, besides collecting a paycheck. There is no rationale in a conservative electorate that not only continually votes against its own interest -- but pretends to not notice the free-flowing stream of misinformation and obstruction of their elected officials. These people just can't be that ... dumb. Can they? But you should consider that 23 million would be 28 million if it weren't for the 4.4 million jobs added during this term. Also, it must be accounted that the 23 million includes all those public-sector jobs that have been eliminated since 2010, thanks to Republican governors like Scott Walker.

Compromise & openess to bi-partisanship was not favorable to the way this current administration functioned. Obamacare was rammed thru without any compromise. It was wholly a Democratic bill (and those ramming it through) we not open to any compromise from the other side of the isle (in attempt to make it more favorable to the public at large). And the Democrats kept up that same behavior ... and snubbed approxamately half of the citizens of the USA during the process. So citizens wanting new leadership from the top down might not have been so desired had the Obama Administration been truly open to compromise all along the way. They never were - only in words, not in action. As an old saying goes, "Your actions speak so loudly, I can't hear you."

But there?s still going to be some pain out there,? Obama predicted during an interview on NBC?s ?Today Show.? ?If I don?t have this done in three years, then there?s going to be a one-term proposition.? ------------------ Obama had his chance, and one term of his failed policies have left the economy teetering on the edge of another recession. http://womensdcproject.net/2012/07/31/if-i-dont-have-this-done-in-three-years-then-theres-going-to-be-a-one-term-proposition/ ------------------------- What a difference three years makes 7 February 2012 Appearing shell-shocked and exhausted after three years as Commander in Chief, it was undeniable during President Barack Obama's television interview with NBC on Sunday that his time in office has taken its toll. Tired and grey, his look was in sharp contrast to a 2009 interview shot days into his presidency, when he the face of hope and change. ... 'We've had a dysfunctional political system for a while now,' he insisted. Three years later, with heavy eyes - and nearly identical attire - the president acknowledged his frustration with accomplishing his mission for a bi-partisan Washington, and bemoaned his trouble getting Congress to act on his ideas. ?Our founders designed a system that makes it more difficult to bring about change than I would like,? he said. ... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2097543/Obama-interview-President-looks-shell-shocked-compared-2009.html ------------
What is it about the fact that the Republicans openly sought to stymie the president at every turn during his first term do you guys not get?
Compromise & openess to bi-partisanship was not favorable to the way this current administration functioned. Obamacare was rammed thru without any compromise. It was wholly a Democratic bill (and those ramming it through) we not open to any compromise from the other side of the isle (in attempt to make it more favorable to the public at large). And the Democrats kept up that same behavior ... and snubbed approxamately half of the citizens of the USA during the process...
Please stop repeating talk-radio buzz-words. It hurts your cred. You are mis-characterizing the events that led up to the passage of the Affordable Care Act. The healthcare bill was not "rammed through" at all. And there was sho' 'nuff PLENTY that was compromised. I followed that whole ordeal throughout the latter half of 2009, and I can't tell you how frustrating it was for me that the Dems wasted so much time dealing with the Republicans -- who clearly had no intention on seeing it through at all. On the onset, Obama had already compromised plenty by taking Single Payer healthcare off the table. The compromise: A public option for lower-income citizens. A version of the ACA with the public option passed the House. However, it was the "Blue Dog Democrats" in the Senate that screwed us out of that option. All that compromising...all that time devoted -- just so that they could get that one Republican vote from Olympia Snow.
