The 2012 and beyond Political Thread - Part 2

HaileyMcComet:
Trump fans are saying Trump did a good job. He didn't go full crazy, so he should get points for that. He was as stable as he gets during his teleprompter speeches. Clinton fans are saying she won. I don't know what she won. She still stands a very real chance of losing the election. There are two more debates. You can bet Trump will be more prepared next time. Or he'll go full crazy. I think no one won. Hillary Clinton is the smartest person to run for president in my lifetime. She knows policy and the issues better than her husband, and he wasn't exactly an idiot himself, though he did some stupid things. Trump has demonstrated again and again that his knowledge of the presidency, government and constitution are stuck below a junior high school level. In a real debate, Clinton should have destroyed him. She had a couple of good scripted lines, but missed several wide open opportunities when he contradicted himself. Telling people to go to some website for fact checking is pretty lame. Trump said he wants to punish NATO members for not paying their fair share after he called himself smart for not paying taxes on almost $700 million. He also said that was a small amount of money to him. She let it slide. He said it was good business to not pay people what they're owed and said that other countries owe the United States money. She let it slide. He complained that American companies are taking jobs to other countries and wants to make them pay higher taxes then bragged that his company employs people in Europe and Asia and wants his company to pay lower taxes. She let it slide. He went on and on about too many government regulations after saying that he wants to regulate those companies. She let it slide. When Trump said, "No wonder you've been fighting, no wonder you've been fighting ISIS your entire adult life", he was begging her to call him out. She stammered and talked about her website. Clinton: "Donald was one of the people who rooted for the housing crisis. He said, back in 2006, Gee, I hope it does collapse because then I can go in and buy some and make some money. Well, it did collapse." Trump (interrupting): "That's called business, by the way." Clinton goes back to making her point and ignores what Trump just said. He's running as "the people's champion" and he just admitted that he wanted the middle class to get screwed so he could make some money. And she said nothing. Trump: "Typical politician. All talk, no action, sounds good, doesn't work, never gonna happen." Had Clinton said something like, "Are you describing your campaign?" that would have been the highlight sound bite of the night. Instead, she stood back and watched. Trump: "Our airports, our airports are like from a third world country. You land at LaGuardia, you land at Kennedy, you land at LAX, you land at Newark, and you come in from Dubai and Qatar and you see these incredible, you come in from China, you see these incredible airports and you land, we've become a third world country." Clinton: nothing. I'm sure she's been to all of those airports. Other than a few in China, none of them look anything like a third world country. He opened the door for her to call the United States the greatest country in the world and far from a third world country. Republicans love to wave the flag. Trump repeatedly badmouths the United States. Clinton let it slide.
You're absolutely right that she missed several chances for a witty well-informed retort. I wondered why she wasn't quicker on the draw, at those times. I know she's capable of quick-witted sharp thinking and then acting on it immediately with well-chosen pithy words. Running for presidency of the U.S. must place a huge amount of pressure on a person, though, especially in a big important debate setting. I felt especially perturbed when Trump came right out and charged Clinton doesn't have "the look" or "the stamina" to be President. By "the look" he meant she's not a rich old white man. A very sexist remark, I thought. Highly offensive. She called him out on the stamina comment, but not on "the look" part of his claim.

I thought she was letting it slide because it was so obvious he was acting like a donkey's cousin!
Look at the faces here, what does Donald intend to do? Hillary wants to assure leaders that we intend to honor our treaties. Donald calling a beauty pageant winner Miss Piggy and Miss Housekeeping and he sticks to his guns on this!! A presidential candidate that has no idea, just how wrong and biased, racist he is!?If she shot back in the same manner, she would have been judged more harshly. Hillary has no stamina

Donald Trump paid less in Federal Income taxes the past 18 years than I did. And everyone on this board. Yet he can have 24k plated toilet seats? Jets, helicopters, etc... That should be the end of his campaign right there. And the tax codes need to be reformed.

Hillary hitting the nail on the head
Article on Trump losing at least a billion dollars and why he won't show his tax returns... As he said in the debate "that's called business"... "Mr. Trump knows the tax code far better than anyone who has ever run for President and he is the only one that knows how to fix it"... I guess he was talking about not paying ANY taxes, and instead "fix" more tax loopholes. Hillary released 30 years of her tax returns... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/marty-rudoy/think-trump-will-close-th_b_12299572.html From a Huffington Post article: In the early 1990s, it turns out, Trump reported business losses so massive that they could shelter him from income taxes on nearly $1 billion. As a former head of the Congressional Budget Office remarked, "It's either a unique combination of bad luck or he's a terrible businessman or both. I don't understand how you can lose $1 billion and stay in business." Here's how. Trump used the tax and bankruptcy laws to turn an epic series of business disasters into a tool of personal survival -- perhaps at the edge of legality -- while his contractors went unpaid and his investors lost their money. His avoidance of taxation is not evidence of acumen, but an undeserved reward for selfishness and ineptitude. With this, a core truth about Donald Trump was confirmed at last. He is not a master builder who would make America great again -- he is a child of our corrupt tax code, stacked to insulate wealthy real estate developers from the consequences of failure. Genius did not save him -- loopholes and bankruptcies did, and at a cost to everyone but Trump. Little wonder that his tax proposals for America are designed to treat developers like Trump even better. In the words of another venal developer, Leona Helmsley, "Only the little people pay taxes." -

His fans don't care. Republican leaders are already calling him a "genius" for losing a billion dollars. It doesn't matter that a great business leader wouldn't lose a billion dollars and then call himself the best businessman in the world. Just as it doesn't matter that this man lies more than a 3 legged cat with arthritis. The only thing that matters is party loyalty. Republicans who hated Trump during the primaries are making excuses for him now because he's the party nominee. That's the most important thing. Trump once said he could shoot someone in the middle of the street and not lose votes. He's right. The party would defend him.

Maybe he'll do that next...put his theory to the test... I can't believe he urged his supporters to check out an imaginary sex tape. It's got to be a first...a Presidential candidate urging people to check out a porn tape.
What is next?

Thrilled to hear Anderson Cooper will be moderating the next Presidential Debate.? Even though Donald Trump doesn't want him to moderate.

HILLARY Was Raised A United Methodist. Methodist's Believe That Jesus Loves All People...Not Just Certain Groups. Very cool list here of famous Methodists... http://famousmethodists.blogspot.com/ Rue McClanahan - Famed actress of Maude and The Golden Girls was raised by Methodist parents in Oklahoma and throughout her life she identified herself as a Methodist based on her religious upbringing. She once said, "There are three things I love; animals, my Golden Girls, and being a Methodist". Fred Gwynne - Best remembered for his role as Herman on The Munsters was affliated with the Methodist church from a young age and when he died was laid to rest in a Methodist cemetery which is known as the Sandymount United Methodist Church graveyard in Finksburg, Maryland. James Arness - Star of Gunsmoke, he and his brother the late Peter Graves, were raised in the Methodist church by German parents. Pat Buttram - He starred as Mr. Haney on Green Acres. His father was a Methodist minister and therefore Buttram was raised and became a lifelong member of the Methodist church. He is even interred at the cemetery located next to the Maxwell Chapel United Methodist Church. William Holden - His father was a Methodist and Holden was raised in the Methodist church based on that. Although some sources claim that he was a Congregationalist, based on the fact that when Holden married his wife, Gloria, in a Congregationalist church, he identified himself as a Methodist throughout his life. Robert Mitchum - He was born and raised into a Methodist family. Christopher Walken - Originally raised as a Roman Catholic from Brooklyn, New York he now identifies himself as a "former Catholic current Methodist". Howard Keel - Musical star of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers he was brought up by Methodist parents and went forth in the religion for the rest of his life. Peter Graves - Little brother of actor James Arness (Gunsmoke) he was raised in a family of German Methodists. Donna Reed - Born in Iowa she was raised by Methodist parents. Tallulah Bankhead - Legendary star of stage and radio, who only made a few film apperances in her lifetime, she was raised in an affluent Alabama family whose religion was strongly practiced and observed by her devout Methodist father William Brockman Bankhead who was a speaker in the House of Representatives. We Know What Donald's Religion Is, And Therefore, Why He Has So Many Problems... "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." ~ 1 Timothy

There have been a lot of firsts in this election. But the basic principle is still the same. Party members will vote for whoever their party nominates no matter what. But at least we all know one thing for certain. Trump has never made his own sex tape. If he had, he'd be telling people to watch that and bragging that, "If you want to know the truth, it's the best sex tape in the history of the world. Believe me."

" Tallulah Bankhead went to Huntingdon College, a private Methodist affiliated college in Montgomery, Alabama. Bankhead Avenue is one block over from my childhood home in Old Cloverdale. I went to Huntingdon College for a couple of semesters: http://www.huntingdon.edu/ I am an Episcopalian. I don't think one's religious affiliation is a sure fire way of knowing what one is thinking politically or in one's heart.

I know who the actors are. And, it is why I mentioned the character. Although, the actor is not portraying Trump, I thought that it was rather uncanny that an actor dressed like Satan and another actor that looked like a young Trump would be in the same shot together. Go figure. I am sure that an actor's parents would not like to think that their children look like Trump...or worse...have his loser attitude.

That is true at times. There are many people who claim that they live by the golden rule, but don't always...and they are quick to point fingers of judgement at others. They are easy to see through.

I am not advocating that ANY religion, or subset of a religion, is superior to any other. In fact, I truly believe any person who believes their religion/beliefs are superior to any one else's including atheist's, are Elitist snobs. As Sir Paul says, "every ladder leads to Heaven." I define myself as an advocate of Universal Peace and Love.?? My family just happens to identify primarily with the Episcopal Church. Although there are Baptists, Methodists, etc... I attended Catholic School. As far as Trump, it sounds like he has a lot more kitty cat problems on his hands now than he did yesterday. A man who grabs a strange woman's p***y and brags about it. What a fool.
