The 2012 and beyond Political Thread - Part 2
-
This is Obama's to lose. He is ahead by six points in Ohio. No Republican has ever won the Presidential election without winning Ohio. This is why the Republicans have resorted to voter suppression and fraudulent tactics there. Obama is ahead in national polls again, but it's the electoral college that matters -- and Romney is behind -- big time. Romney is behind in Florida, as well. I think the final insult with voters was Romney's Jeep ad, and when you've got the CEOs of Chrysler and GM calling you a liar...if the shoe fits....
-
Yay audi Yay!! I had stated before here that Obama has a lot more electoral votes than Mittens, already Obama's actions during Hurricane Sandy are bound to have given him a boost, he's been mostly praised for his efforts Rudy Gulliani pooh poohed the President's reaction to Sandy and said Obama immediately went back to campaigning--Rudy himself made these critical comments from a campaign hall meeting for Romney, LOL, in another state, in the West, he wasn't in New York or Sandy's general area in the Northeast all the time either as was quickly pointed out by an Obama backer, on CNN last night
-
Rudy Gulianni, although there are much worse Republicans, has no room to criticize anybody in that respect. Back when he ran for President, he milked 9/11 for all its worth.

Without firing a shot look at what the Obama Administration has accomplished http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/nov/04/iran-suspend-uranium-enrichment
Iran suspends uranium enrichment Move intended as gesture of goodwill before negotiations with US over nuclear programme begin next week Iran has suspended the enrichment of uranium stockpiles to the 20% purity needed to bring it a short step from building a nuclear device, news services in the region have reported.
This is HUGE GOOD NEWS Middle East just got a lot safer The smart, grownups are in charge Let's keep it that way Reelect President Obama and all Democrats down ticket No more unnecessary Wars

(pssst, GOP....ya' might wanna stop nominating habitually lying, sociopathic megalomaniacs to represent your ticket. just a word of advice)
Do you truly believe Romney is a sociopath?
I wasn't interested in answering all of your other questions, except for the one above:
audi:
I made the observation that Romney is a sociopath months ago. The shameless, sometimes same-day flip-flops, combined with his attacking the gay kid in high school and cutting his hair, plus Romney causing his blind teacher to walk into a door, I am convinced that Mitt Romney is incapable of feeling guilt.

Paul McCartney sends his support to Barack Obama - 5th November 2012:
-
I was just about to post this! Mr Obama has the support of Paul and his band! Good luck Obama!
-
OK, Paul, you've JUST made up for the events of this past week. Now, with that said: Is Paul living in a time machine???????????? He looks younger than ever!
-
He really is getting a bashing from the Romney supporters (all 10 of them) in the comments on the video! But well done Macca and band for supporting the right guy!
-
What amazes me is that there are people who still seem surprised at a Beatle agreeing with the progressive agenda.
-
One of the wonderful things about Paul is that he has not forgotten his roots. A fantastic endorsement from Paul to Obama Thanks for posting this Admiral I've sent it far and wide
-
What REALLY amazes me is that people are surprised Paul has a political opinion. 3 out of 4 of his touring band are American, 2 out of 3 of his wives were American, he has homes and offices in America, he is regularly stateside, so Paul has just as much right to have an opinion on American politics as anyone else!
-
EVERYone should have a polticial opinon, no matter who they are. From the UK here, I'd really like to see Gary Johnson do well (meaning at least taking 2% of the vote) as I think in the context of American politics his views are TRUELY progressive. I think Obama will win this election but that it will also go down to the wire. I think whoever wins will win be a very measly amount over the opponent I have taken a half day on wednesday to watch the coverage live from 11:30 PM GMT on BBC. Late night for me. It is often said that the Republicans are the party for liberty, lower taxes and smaller state. These base ideals appeal to me, however I also feel that MANY within that party do not stand for individual freedoms and choice (Unlike Ron Paul, for example. I could vote for him, right up my avenue mostly). What do you think? What turns you off about the Republicans?
-
Well, republican/conservative economic policies of deregulation and low/no taxes for the rich and corporations DON'T WORK those policies have been tried and been proven a MASSIVE FAILURE Not much else needs to be said. The comparison which has been shown on this thread many times of repub/dem economic policies in the last 60 years re employment, deficits, stock market etc. all show no contest The Democrats know how to build a successful economy. All the republicans have ever done is destroy the economy. And their social policies are regressive. They're good for nothing. In the US third parties are just a way to throw away your vote. I don't advocate them at all.
-
Social policys. Hmm. Well it depends on your actual ideology. Social right wingers (of whom I most certanly NOT one) are indeed not progressive, however Libertarians indeed are somewhat so. Libertarians think of individuals and so do not think in terms of race, class and sexuality. indeed, it could be argued that socially some libertarians are most radical. So, to easily describe right wing Libertarians: Economically right wing (lesser regulation, lower taxes, free market) and socially Liberal (individuals, rights, less government interference). It appears to me that the republican party consists of many different ideologys on the right and isn't as easy to pin them down as you'd expect. It's for this reason I am unsure of them. Most of them make we want to vomit, other I do agree whole heartidly with. I think it is healthy to have a number of partys that represent the people, and unhealthy for a 2 party state. I would stronly advise people to vote for who they AGREE with and not on just who is more likley to win of the 2. More choice that way, see.

Since I've been voting, that has certainly been the case in the '92, '96, '00, '04, '08 and -- for darn sure -- the 2012 elections.
