New Stage Design

I happened to stumble on this ticket-selling site. It shows different seating charts for different events at Barclays. Note there are 4 concert charts shown; the 4th one is a set-up with a ramp or something extending out into the audience. I have no idea what Paul's set-up will be, but I'm excited to think it's going to be something different, and that he will be '"out there" somehow, letting everyone get a good view!

I think that's somebody else's seating chart. If you look up Paul on the Seatgeek site, and search for Barclays tickets, you will see they have a seat map showing links to vendors selling various floor tickets, and there's no ramp or walkway on that map. I still think the platform is going to be right in front of the main stage, but we will know in 2 days!

Normally those little elevated stage things are back by the sound and lighting board at the back of the floor seating. I've seen that at Foo Fighters, AC-DC, Taylor Swift, Aerosmith, and Pink.

Folks, I guarantee you it will be cool, Paul McCartney is not going to do something to anger audiences!!! That is NOT his style.

Other than Orlando and ScotiaBank Place On, do any other seating diagrams show the platform in front of the stage?
Milwaukee does. Brooklyn does not.
The photo's of the stage that were shown were from an outdoor stadium right? If so,could that platform be for larger outdoor stadium shows only?

that's what I was thinking....

The moving platform McCartney used in 1993 to have him "hover" over the audience was used at stadium shows. I know he did a handful of European arena shows on that tour, but I am not sure he used that effect in the arenas. Maybe someone here went and can clarify.

I saw him in 93 at stadiums and one indoor show. I don't recall the device used indoors here...outdoors yes.

Paul doesn't need this kind of monster stage. Maybe it will be ok, I'll reserve judgement until I see it-but right now it just looks weird....

He does need it, especially now his voice is going. Paul stood there croaking 40+ year old song with no big lighting rig and screens would be interminable. Blackbird and Here Today are the closest he's done to that in recent years and they are the undoubtable lowlights of the concert for me. Bathroom break/checking phone/beer break songs. He needs the staging and everything as a distraction!

I don't know.... exaggerate much? Here's a clip of 'Here Today', from a mere 6 months ago:
and here's Blackbird from the same show: Has his voice lost some of the 'sweetness'? Sure. But "croaking"?? I don't think so. You make it sound like he's approaching Bob Dylan or Tom Waits vocally. -

On some nights he is.
Please provide a YouTube link for an example. If it's really as bad as you say, and on multiple nights, you should be able to easily find one for us. I want to hear this "croaking".
-
Hm, for me his (semi-)acoustic parts are the highlight of the gig. Love it so much more than the 'Drive My Car' Abe Jr.-driven stadium rock he does 75% of the night. Wish he did more songs in a sparse arrangement.

It depends on the night and the song. Some nights he is a bit...not great vocally, shall we say, and some nights he's spot on. He was phenomenal in St. Louis this fall, but I've seen him other times when I've literally winced. ops: He's nowhere near Bob Dylan in terms of losing his vocal range (I wouldn't wish that kind of loss on anyone!), but he's also nowhere near the Paul of the 60's and 70's, either, and who in their right minds would expect a 70-year old man to be?

Tyrion_Lannister:
awful! As I originally thought..... Major exaggeration. A few bum notes, sure.... but you failed to convince me.
