I am sad to say that on Sunday afternoon August 30,2009, my brother Mike passed away after his long struggle with cancer. You all knew him as "BEATNUT " I knew him as the best brother in the world. This site was a place that meant a lot to him and the friends he met here were very special to him. Thank you chlo and chris ,Page ,walt Lemmy ,pat ,Lch and all the rest for all your love and support. For the people that knew him beyond these posts, the best compliment I could ever give, is that he was truely his mother's son. Thank you for being a part of my brother's life.

My heart is so heavy with this news. Although I have been away from the forum for awhile, Beat was one of my favorite people here- the true heart and soul of the original "Cast of Characters" here. VERY sad. Thank you for letting us know. non 😞

I am so sorry for the loss of Mike. He was a really special guy and I feel privileged to have met him. We had a fantastic time in Toronto and met briefly in Atlantic City. Mike truly cared about people. He had a great sense of humor. To Mike's family: we feel and share your pain. Cancer is such a horrible, horrible disease. It takes people way too young. Nutty and I had a long history here and I so liked it when he called me Scruffy.

This just hit hard and knocks me over I used to look forward to reading what Beatnut/ Mike had to say here - he was one of the first posters here to actually make me LAUGH out loud and to grin inside when away from the board thinking about what he had said. I felt fortunate to have had a long phone talk with him beyond the board. Sorrows - Peace be with you Sir Beatnut. peace and comfort to Family and friends.

I'm also very saddened to hear about Mike. My heart breaks for his family and friends. I will never forget all the crazy fun we had getting to know each other on this site and BeatNut was always at the helm. His love and passion for his family and friends, coupled with his wicked sense of humor made him truly irresistable. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I'm still in shock over this tragedy. Mike might very well be the funniest person I've ever known in my life. The man had a heart of gold and would do anything for you. Friends don't get better than that. Right now I'm crying as I type this. He was way too young. He loved life and he loved being around people. If you were happy then he was happy. A bunch of us met in Manhattan in 2002 at a place called the Film Club Cafe @ 9th Ave & 45th St. It was all Mike's idea. We all talk on the board, how about doing a face to face. I remember driving home thinking omg, what a nice bunch of people. So nice, so decent-- all of them. I'm sure many, like myself, was a bit leery at first about meeting people "from the internet". I know I'm gonna forget some names but here's a list of whom I can think of that showed up that autumn Saturday: Lemmie, Clo, Rampaige RN, Keps, myself, Beatnut of course, and friends and spouses. I know I'm forgetting some names because my mind is still in a fog. Later on more of us would meet including Beatlemaniac, LCH, Daisy, Blondie10, Jude, and the three sisters, Denise, Sue and Kim. Denise and Kim just got home from a Liverpool tour only to hear this tragic news. Mike is gone but he will never be forgotten. He kept this board alive and laughing in the early days and if it weren't for him many of never would have met. Enjoy heaven, Mike, until we all meet again.

Rest in Peace, Mike. My thoughts and prayers to him, his family and friends. I'll remember Beat as one of the funniest members here; reading his posts often brought a smile to my face. My most treasured memory of him though are a couple of really sweet PMs (which luckily I have saved as they really touched me) where he showed his softer and caring side. I hope he knew how much they were appreciated. Thanks again, Nutty! You'll be missed.
