what do you think of Dogs

I had to put my dog in a Petsmart day care today for 4 hours. I think it was more traumatic for me than it was for her.

poor baby...
and a awwwI think dogs teach us how to have fun ... In the first video, I think the dog was having fun keeping the shoe & not surrendering it to his owner. And in the second, the bigger dog was looking after the smaller - all three had fun. Thanks for posting them oobu24

Songs about dog???

Went to get a fresh sack of dog food & couldn't resist the funny looking yellow flat bird at the register. My Yorkies are having a grand time playing tug of war with it!

As I flip the calendar to March ...... There is an anniversary of sadness ..... The day my previous dog ... died It took a long time to get over ..... a few times along the way .... I thought that I might get another dog ..... then very close to that sad anniversary ..... a few days later .... there was a good fit ..... I drove a long way ..... to meet the dog I have now ..... went back home empty handed and thought of him a lot ..... with the risk that he could be sold .... I did not even have enough for a deposit .... the rescue people said they would wait to the next week (I was okay'd .... but had to wait for a pay day .... I think I had car repairs or something that took away some of my money as to not have enough for a my possible new dog ..... and .... I did not know what I was walking into .....) The next week I got him So in the sadness there is also the "Gotcha Day" Thanks to oobu24 with the idea .... because they could only guess the birth date ..... so Gotcha day is coming up soon

oh Fool... These little creatures do so much for us. We just got back from a trip across the country by car & took the dog with us. She still makes me smile every day...almost. lol. This is a trip we took with our previous dog & it made me think of her. Our previous dog died in March too...but our Gotcha Day is in Nov. Took me 8 months to find her.

"Gotcha Day" - that's adorable!
-
Yeah, when adopting a dog you have no idea of the birthday (usually...unless it's a pup) so the day you get it & the day they get their forever home is really their "gotcha day". LOL.

awww...how sweet & at least she is small enough. By that I mean, I saw a dog last week, a Newfoundland, 150 #, that had problems with it's back legs. He couldn't get up by himself. They had to pick up his hind end & then he could walk...kinda. oh poor baby but soo big & heavy & hot. The dog was laying in the sun & they had to move him to the shade since he was beginning to pant. I think the best thing to do for him would be to put him down. Poor big ol lug.

I know a dog who is similiar and since he is not in any pain whatsoever and is happy and wants to still be alive and part of the family he is around. Sure it takes extra care and I guess it would be much simpler for the humans to 'put him down,' as it would be more convienent. But the dog's parents LOVE him, the vet says as long as he is not in pain and is happy let him live. The vet, a smart young lady, says 'he will let you know when it is time.' Sometimes if one is looking in a dog's life, and not part of the scenario, you don't know what the parents or the dog feel. I feel as long as the dog is happy and the parents of the dog are happy, then Let It Be. It really does not matter what the outside world thinks.

The dog has somekind of neurological problem with it's legs & also had a throat problem where it can't drink water (had some surgeries). They feed it chicken soup ice cubes. I am a big advocate of not putting dogs down so you don't have to tell me about that...but this dog is 11 years old (old for a Newfie) & has multiple problems. And he did not look happy out in the AZ sun. Everytime I bent over to cradle his head he flipped for a belly rub but I don't think he's happy watching the other dogs & cats run about having fun. Sometimes it actually is kinder for the dog.

I understand what u r saying. My dog is 17 years old and is a Black Labrador Retriever. He has problems getting up sometimes and we help him. He eats everything in sight and drinks water just as always. Everyone that sees him says,' black labs don't live that long...' and I am like, 'yes, I l know.' Even the staff of doctors where he goes for checkups are amazed and show him off to all the vet students to their amazement. I think mine is sticking around as best he can because he knows how much I love him, and he loves me. He knows I have been sad alot lately due to mean humans and he comforts me, he is much more compassionate than most people I run into lately. I am so grateful for his unconditional Love. I have had be present for 2 euthanasia's in my life to dogs I loved SO dearly.I know when the time comes, my 17 year old will do the same, and let me know. I suppose I am very defensive in people wanting to prematurely put an animal 'down' cause they are a little less convienent. Not what you are saying oobu, but this guy I know from up the Nothern way, told me I should just 'wring my squirrels neck,' when he was sick. And btw> he was part of a psychopathic group of 'young men' who threw dogs over an overpass in Chicago for the thrill of it long ago. He also threw 2 of my dogs, one he body slammed on the ground in Alabama, and one he threw into a wall of his apartment in the 1990's. But to the outside world of people besides me, he says how he loves dogs. If only they knew the truth. Just things that go through my mind when I think of doing away with animals. Hope the Newfoundland dog you know has a happy life whist he/she can, and the end is easy and they can meet again on the Rainbow Bridge.
