Wow...pretty gutting!

Well done to Michael Phelps for securing the medals he needed to become the most successful Olympian ever - 19 medals - 15 gold and a few other bits I hope he can secure an individual gold as this one was part of a team relay - that would truly stand him out as exceptional. Today is most likely the point where the GB team start collection bullion with rowing finals starting today, Bradley Wiggins starting the cycling road time trial as favourite (if was his trialling performance that built up his winning lead in the Tour de France.) And to the Women's GB football team for winning three out three in their group stage - without conceding a goal. Including beating Brazil 1-0 last night. They appear next in the quarter final stage in the "City Of Coventry" stadium against Canada 7.45 Friday. They are certainly picking up momentum and support - their final group match against Brazil at Wembley broke the UK record for attendance at a women's game. Martin

i thought phelps completely blew it on the earlier race last night where he ended up with silver.....obviously he is past his best..also in the team event he won even i could have brought america home in first place such was the lead his team built of for him......im not saying this applies 100% to phelps but there is nothing worse than watching a 'great' perform as a shadow of their former self...i used to think the same about 'feddera' at tennis although he has come again this year and credit to him.

Phelps is doing just fine.....broke the record......no tears there.. Congratulations to the USA Girls gymnastics team...they blew them away! Just amazing! What happened to badmitten?

I used this referance in another thread (which got locked) but athletes and musicians do have that similarity.....the difference is Phelps has already announced this is his last Olympics......hint hint

My Olympic moment to date: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18911526 Check out Katherine Copeland's reaction to winning gold in the lightweight women's double sculls rowing. She held this face of disbelief for over 30 seconds - even looking behind her to check another crew hadn't crossed the line before them before breaking into smiles and hugs with her boat partner Sophie Hoskin: If you can check out the race and her reaction on the BBC do so it's a charming moment. Has any trampoline been shown on NBC's coverage? Last night they said they were going to show it but nada. Thought it may have been fun to see...different.
-
and what about that ping pong table? Is it just the angle they are filming from or is it really small?

Yes....the trampoline was on last night......it is insane!

The women's trampoline is on NBC right now at 10:22 am central time.

Kobe needs to hush up about this hoops team being better than the '92 team. Magic, Bird and Jordan were never taken to task the way LeBron and Co were challenged by Lithuania today. Straight up, 'thee' Dream Team of '92 was, is and will always be the greatest collection of basketball talent a country could ever put together no matter their ages.

More on this, she apparently is being quoted as saying: "We won the Olympics, we're going to be on a stamp!" Background to this, in honour of GB gold medal winners the Royal Mail are issuing official first class stamps bearing an image of the winning performance at selected major post offices nationwide - a logistical triumph of Olympian proportions in itself. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19101604 The Royal Mail are also painting a post box gold in the hometown of every successful gold medallist: Hope they can afford the amount of paint they seem to be committed to Martin PS this decision totally compromises the normal (albeit slightly flexible) policy of only featuring living UK royalty on Royal Mail stamps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_on_stamps_of_the_United_Kingdom So a worthy tribute indeed.

Paul McCartney is at the velodrome celebrating the womens team pursuit victory along with Nancy and Stella. I'll try to secure a screen grab. Martin Here you go: Larger image here: Click Here
