Sir Elton John boycotts Dolce and Gabbana over comments about "Traditional families" and "synthetic children." I only own a couple of Dolce and Gabbana items but I am boycotting them in spirit. Maybe some big names who feel the same will side with Sir Elton! There is no room for hate on the fashion runway! http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2015/03/16/393350204/elton-john-leads-boycott-against-dolce-gabbana-over-synthetic-children-remarks

Why did D & G suddenly issue a controversial opinion on this delicate matter, anyway? Many of their fashions are gorgeous--why didn't they just work on their clothing designs, and not start a scandal--and why should an opinion and some remarks be considered so all fired important, anyway... we do have free speech. And Italy does. Elton John acts like they personally directed this towards him and his family--did they?

I have no idea to whom they directed their backwards thinking statement. Sir Elton has two beautiful children by IVF. Lots of straight and gay couples have children by IVF as they are not able to have children any other way. Elton has the platform and balls to take up for people of all walks of life who cannot have a family the "natural" way. He is not the only person to speak out about D & G. Guess time will tell about this one.

The one who said it was giving a personal opinion and not that of the company, so i dont really understand why people feel they have to boycot the company. Everyone is entitled to opinions, personally i dont beleive in IVF at all, if me and my wife had not had a child naturally i wouldnt not have gone the IVF route as some people not being able to have children is natures way of keeping the population down. That is my personal opinion and not that of my company!

Respecting your opinion, I disagree. Elton has a right to speak out just as D & G used their platform to speak out. There are lots of well educated older women who have to wait longer in life to have children for various reasons. To create a economic stable life for a child, To find the right partner, fertility issues or other health concerns. They deserve to have the joy of being a mother or their partner being a father just as much as people who create "naturally." This applies to straight and gay couples. My best friend in school was 43 when she had her first and only child. She had fertility Treatments and IVF. She and her husband have a gorgeous little girl now. When I look in her eyes, I am sure God wanted her to be on this earth, just as he did the other children of the earth. *Some of these poor children who were created "naturally" do not have responsible parents and go hungry or without an education and no home. I believe God gave humans the knowledge of IVF. We use it to help others who are not so fortunate as others.

Again we all have our own opinions and that is fine but as you are quoting older women as a reason, my Wife was 45 when she had our son Naturally and if she hadnt fell pregnant naturally we wouldnt have used IVF, but as i said we all have our own opinions which is good

It's weird that they did this when it was obviously going to upset their target audience. That's like if Coors said, "Football fans are all fat and lazy."

Then apparently Elton slipped up and went out with a D&G bag today!

^^ I am pretty sure that was an intentional statement as Elton was walking into his record studio. On the news, I saw the two D&G "rocket scientists" back peddling a bit on their comments. Although it was a watered down apology.

Saw Elton John in recent photo holding hands with Pastor Rick Warren as they appeared before the Senate in a hearing on AIDS assistance, I had thought Warren was on the gay bashing unwelcome wagon. Maybe not. I recalled Elton softening up homophobe Eminem, appearing on stage with him at one time, think they did a duet. Sir Elton pops up with incongruous companions sometimes--the power of music
