I don't know why that has stayed in my head. Maybe because it really is a cover-up.

Dorothy Killgallen interviewed Jack Ruby in prison, and she told people she had received information from him that would blow the cover off the Kennedy assassination. (Big mistake!) After that, a "mysterious man" came into her life, and within a short time she was dead. None of her friends ever met this man, or knew his name, they only saw him from a distance with her. He disappeared after her death never to be seen again. There's several videos about her on YouTube. this one gives basic info
I think JFK was killed by the mafia. Peter Jennings of ABC did a documentary about the JFK assassisination in the late 1980s-early 1990s. He found out from FBI documents that JFK's father, Joseph Kennedy, arranged for the mafia to rig elections in West Virginia and Chicago, which turned the tide of the election. After the election, he double crossed them somehow by not paying them off.... then JFK's brother Bobby was Attorney General and tried to rid unions of organized crime.... so he wasn't popular with them either. One of JFK's mistresses, Judith Exner, was also the mistress of Sam Giancana, mafia boss of Chicago. In the 1970s, the House of Representatives re-opened the Kennedy assassination hearings, and subpeonaed Sam Giancana and other mafia figures to give testimony.... the night before he was supposed to leave for Washington, he was found dead in his kitchen.... Anyway, there's so many aspects to this case... don't think the truth will ever be known. -
Some of it seems like a big cover up ... And some of it - while not intending to be a cover up ... Was attempted to be cleaned up As soon as possible... Some of the conspiracy theories seem Close to being possible.... Do you believe in the magic bullet theory?

No, doesn't seem plausible... but I thought the show "Seinfeld" explained it really well, in these clips (Part 1)
