Wow! I just found out my g-g-g- uncle's son was the 93rd Governor of New York City. 1904-1909. His name was George Brinton McClellan, Jr. He died childless at age 75 years old.
Son of the Civil War general? That's pretty cool. Was he mayor or governor? George Sr. was a governor of New Jersey, I think.
I found it as I was reading about the NYC snowstorm and remembered some relative had something to do with Times Square, etc... General George Brinton McClellan, Sr. was a Union general, he ran for President and lost against Lincoln. Was part of the Pinkerton Detective Agency. Then he was into railroads and was Governor of New Jersey. His sister whom I am named after, was my 3rd great grandmother. (From the Brinton/Steinmetz/McClellan families of Philadelphia, Pa.) George Brinton McClellan, Jr. was his son, and Mayor of New York City, and had other political positions. Had no idea! If it were not for the snowstorm I still wouldn't know.
Interesting family names from Philly very similar to my family roots, were they from Scotland and Northern Ireland?

^^ The McClellans were from the "Clan MacLellan." In my family from Kirkcudbright and Balmaclellan in the Southwest Scottish Lowlands. They also lived in Ireland at Ulster Plantation as they would take passage back and forth between Scotland and Ireland. My family line emigrated to the America after losing their lands and possessions by being Royalists.

I don't know as much about my family heritage, I believe we were from the same clan as you Kittay. I know one of my ancestors married William Wallace's sister Catherine, I believe. They fought alongside Wallace. Names that are familiar from my Dad are Dumbarton, also Northumberland region. Association with Border Reivers and maybe even Kilbride in Scotland. I also have Viking blood in there somewhere too. We emigrated to Philly from Northern Ireland. I also have a famous author from England in the family tree.

My people were Highland Scottish, part of the Chattan Confederation. They fought for the king during the Scottish Civil War, moved to the colonies and fought for another king during the American Revolution. We seem to always pick the losing side.

It is just really sinking in that myself and my Mom were/are victims of white collar criminals. All the money they took and property they destroyed and years from our lives and health. I can't comprehend it. I don't think I will ever recover from this unless I have a victims rights advocate. It is too heavy.

I am sorry for your troubles as well oobu. The worst part, besides finances, is the mental abuse. It is like I have nightmares more nights out if the week than good dreams. I wake up wishing I was not alive. Just feel hopeless and helpless. I already had PTSD. Now another layer of it. I just go day by day. Night by night. I doubt I will ever trust anyone again either. Wish you well.️

I hope you can find a way to keep trekking forward.
