My coworker who's really into this kind of stuff is going nuts. Some theories: One, a grinding noise that we all will here when the polls shift on dec 21, 2012. another: Something to do with the plates where the big BP oil spill happened. an a skeptic notes: same coworker's girlfriend said that the noise sounds like when she listens to noises from space on some astronony channel. She said it sounds like two black holes colliding and thinks it's some form of hoax.

It's funny you mention the BP thing...because on the news today, I saw that there is actually some drilling going on in Ohio (didn't know there was anything to drill there
) and while it has had a positive impact on the job and economy, there are claims the drilling is causing earthquakes to occur -

Thanks a lot for that - yeah, they interviewed the Mayor of Youngstown on CNN and he appeared to have some concerns for this...however, their economic and unemployment levels have been bleak, even compared to the rest of the country in this recession...so he more or less appeared to be someone stuck between a rock and a hard place

You know the movies are all WRONG!! If aliens did come to earth they'd probably be scared not violent and vicious because they wouldn't know what to expect. just like we would be if we were on another planet. Also, they would look like nothing we could ever think of...this is hard to explain so I am giving up

Wierd stuff!!......
The thing that unnerves me is the fact that there's been little, if anything, about it on the world's TV news programmes or in the newspapers. Why? I mean it's a strange, loud noise coming from the sky.... 
Love some of the suggestions, like 'Are aliens building a wormhole between their universe and ours intending to invade', 'Is the government testing a new sonic weapon' or 'Are they (whoever they are) tunneling underground? Another is 'The earth's plates are moving'. Why is there no real surface disturbance if they are? The War Of The Worlds is coming ladies and gents!!..... .....call Tom Cruise someone..... -
