Sad question but what time did the confetti come down? I ask because D.C.'s subway system shuts down at midnight. The last train out leaves the venue at 12:05 a.m.
It ended about 11:10. (I'm not sure exactly when he took the stage; I was too excited to check the time. I think maybe 8:20 or so.)
On stage 8:29. Off stage 11:06

THANK YOU for letting me know when the confetti came down Have to rely on metro rail. I live about 7 miles from the venue and wouldn't dare attempt walking home at night.

"I didn't think about his voice a single time the entire show, other than that moment, because his performance was flawless." NY Newsday did not think his voice was flawless, said it was less pliable but he made the best of it.
I agree with that review, watching my videos back his voice seems a bit more wobbly but during the show it was just awesome. Some parts he just killed it ("In Spite of All the Danger").
Agreed, maybe not "flawless," -- watching my videos, I hear the wobbliness at times -- but the fact is that being at a concert is very different than watching videos. I feel like the proliferation of amateur videos is a bit like spreading messages out of context. Not only are the acoustics different at the show, but when you're there, you're hopefully singing, dancing, having fun, watching what he and the band are doing, watching what the audience is doing, watching the screens, and, if you're close enough, trying to interact with him. With all that occupying your attention, it's hard to notice vocal flubs, especially when everything else about his performance and that of the band's is superb. Paul still knows how to keep everyone engaged and that's still an invaluable experience. If you want to hear a consistently flawless Paul voice, you have all the records.

If Paul can keep himself this way, I'd say he has 2 more years left of this, maybe 3 but 3 max. I have a gut feeling I have one more show left.

Thanks all for your reviews of the show! . Now I think we need one from DrivinFan... ;).
I'm sorry I missed sound check, I would have loved to see DrivinFan and his son go onstage. So happy for these 2 great guys, and great fans, "On top of the Mountain once again" The Sound, weather, and venue made it another great concert!
Phil...so sorry you and your son missed the soundcheck. Great catching up with you before the concert! Thank you so much for the very kind words! As you can imagine, James and I are walking on air...still hard to believe that we sang "Get Back" with Paul McCartney at soundcheck yesterday!! It's gonna be a while before we come down from this. Always great meeting up with the gang at Paul's concerts...hope to see you soon!!

Congrats DrivinFan! Pics...we need pics!!!

A couple of more observations, as I re-live the show in my mind: I sometimes don't realize how popular "Maybe I'm Amazed" is. People LOVE that song. I think the opening notes of it got one of, if not the biggest, responses of the night. Sometimes I think Paul does peek in here: the way he now prefaces the usual stories by mentioning he's told them before, and now it appears he is letting his gray hair show, at least on his sideburns and temples! Only unpleasant part of the show was a group of drunk women sitting behind us, who seemed incapable of shutting up. (I don't know how people can manage to get drunk when a beer cost $11!!, but guess some have plenty of money!)
-
Love the blue dip dyed t-shirt Paul had on at soundcheck! I would rather hear Paul live with flaws rather than on a perfect recording. Shows he is human though how he goes through a show without a sip of water is one of the mysteries of the world!

Thank you, Joyce...that's so nice of you! As soon as I get my thoughts together I'll post some details.

Here's about 18 minutes of footage I shot from last night's fantastic Metlife show.

A beer cost $11.00? Wonder how much an ice tea or bottle of water costs! My turn tomorrow evening!

Water was $5.00 a bottle! I imagine ice tea must have been at least that much, probably more. Have a great time tomorrow!

That would put Paul on stage at about 8:34 according to the previous report, which is right on time for Paul...

King Macca posted the accurate times: on at 8:29, off at 11:06. (I was close!) Yeah, right on time for Paul. MetLife made a point of always stressing "Paul MAY take the stage at 8 prompt."

Thanks for the heads up about water being $5.00 a bottle.....the venues sure know how to get us I can only guess what a slice of pizza would cost. We may not want to eat anything but everyone will want to drink something.
