Hugh Masekela. South African musician. 78, from prostate cancer. "Grazing In The Grass" and "The Horse" were his big instrumental hits. Played at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967.
"Grazin' in the grass... it's a gas baby can you dig it?" Another song that is etched into my mind forever. Thanks, for sharing your talents, Hugh!
Masekela was also a great human being who spoke out against apartheid in South Africa and was never afraid to stand up for his beliefs: https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2018/01/24/580346946/what-hugh-masekela-meant-to-south-africas-freedom-fighters

Where's the love for the late The Cranberries singer, Dolores O'Riordan, with her beautiful distinctive singing voice with a lovely Irish lilt...remember the very pleasing hits "Linger" and "Dreams," among others, and the very effective, moving anti-war ditty "Zombie," and more.

Sorry, but I’m embarrassed to say I had never heard of her or the group.

I don't think anyone here posted this but Mickey Jones, actor from 'Home Improvements', 'Justified' TV & rock drummer died Feb 8, 2018. Some very interesting facts about Mickey...
While Mickey was drumming for Trini Lopez in Paris on the same bill as the Beatles, in 1963, it was Mickey who filmed with his own camera, the only 8mm color film footage in existance today, of the Beatles performance at the Olympia.
Here is the Beatles segment Mickey filmed, with audio overdub, balcony and side of stage shots... He describes what it was like...And here's the complete segment he filmed (overdubs):

Stephen Hawking has passed.
-
Just read that so sad I didn’t get to meet him at STARMUS in Norway. He was an amazing man!
Stephen Hawking inspired the world with his determination to explain the mysteries of the cosmos. But he also showed breathtaking courage to overcome life's adversities and a burning passion to protect our National Health Service. He will be greatly missed ~ Jeremy Corbyn
His passing has left an intellectual vacuum in his wake. But it's not empty. Think of it as a kind of vacuum energy permeating the fabric of spacetime that defies measure. Stephen Hawking, RIP 1942-2018 ~ Neil deGrasse Tyson
Remembering Stephen Hawking, a renowned physicist and ambassador of science. His theories unlocked a universe of possibilities that we & the world are exploring. May you keep flying like superman in microgravity, as you said to astronauts on the Space Station ~ NASA

Sad to hear of Stephen Hawking passing.
A challenge physically is understated... that mind was really incredible ...
The world (universe ) gained value from his thoughts and things proven ... and from his thoughts that lead to new discoveries ...
May he rest in peace.

You just know that The Big Bang Theory will honor him in some way. He made an appearance on that show (as well as Star Trek: Next Generation)
