So many great people have left us already this year, but Jared Kushner still walks among us. Seems unfair.

Bonnie Pointer, of the Pointer Sisters, has died aged 69 of cardiac arrest. I remember buying one of their earlier singles Yes we can can, which was very different to a lot of pop music at the time. They were very versatile, Bonnie left the group in 1977 and they made some good records without her - I remember particularly a great cover of Fire, by Bruce Springsteen.

Vera Lynn, ‘We’ll Meet Again’ Singer, Dies at 103

Dame Vera Lynn was one of the great singing legends that the U.K. has produced. She already had a successful career before world war 2, then shot to fame with her songs and broadcasts for the soldiers abroad and for the families at home. She was loved by veterans and by the public for the rest of her long life. Sir Paul took part in an excellent tribute programme for her 100th birthday three years ago. She gave British people heart and courage when the country was at its worst danger. R.I.P. Vera.
