This seems like a particularly brutal year for deaths.

0livia deHavilland, Academy award winning actress, and last surviving cast member of "Gone with the Wind," has passed away from natural causes at the age of 104.
When I was 15 and first saw Gone with the Wind, it was the character of Scarlett that I liked, I thought there was a little bit of Scarlett in all of us girls! But 0livia deHavilland as Melanie was the ultimate example of a kind lady, with unconditional love for everyone around her. Even though her character was considered by some to be weak, I think she was just the opposite. She will be missed!
A friend of mine interviewed her in 1997, and said 0DeH was very classy, and definitely a lady, but loved to play poker with gentleman friends every week, and wasn't afraid to have a bourbon on the rocks and let out a swear word or two occasionally, and that she could be very tough, especially when it came to politics and freedom of artistic expression.
She took Warner Brothers to court in 1943 because they held her to her contract with them after it expired, and tried to blacklist her when she fought them. The courts voted in her favor, and the De Havilland Law now protects other actors and entertainers.
Her sister Joan Fountain died in 2013. They were long lived and both excellent actresses. Nothing wrong with a classy lady playing a little poker now and then !
Wow, and her sister (I know you meant Joan Fontaine) was 96 when she died!
Autocorrect again!! Must have been in a hurry.

Wilford Brimley, aged 85, was a fine actor on TV and film. He made fine contributions to the China Syndrome (with Jack Lemmon and Jane Fonda), and three Robert Redford films (the Electric Horseman, Brubaker and The Natural).

Wayne Fontana, aged 74, was lead singer of the Mindbenders from my home city of Manchester, England. They had a US number one with The Game of Love and several other hits in the mid-60s, before Wayne left for a solo career. Future 10cc member Eric Stewart took over as lead singer and the band had a huge hit with Groovy Kind of Love.

So very sad to hear of the passing of Wayne Fontana. Seems like just yesterday, was listening to the songs at the local dances. Very sad to hear...May he rest peacefully

I liked Game Of Love:
Love2travel was talking about Groovy Kind of Love too:

Julian Bream, one of the world's greatest classical guitarists, has died peacefully at the age of 87. Along with John Williams and more recently Milos, he helped to promote the classical guitar and extend its repertoire. I was lucky to see Julian, and John Williams live on several occasions, and it was no surprise to see them on mainstream TV shows, bringing the joy of classical music to the masses. They made some great records together.
In 1982 Paul was a guest on the very long-running UK radio show Desert Island Discs, and he selected a recording by Julian Bream of music by Benjamin Britten.

So sad to hear about the passing of Julian Bream. Really enjoyed his classical guitar style.

Very sad to hear that actor Ben Cross has died. Well known for films like Chariots of Fire, Ben also appeared in one of my all time favourite films, Paperhouse, which I'm going to make a point of watching this evening.

That's too bad. Ben Cross also played Sarek in the 2009 movie "Star Trek." (I have seen all the various TV series and movies!)

On this date, Aug. 27, 1967, Brian Epstein died and the Beatles were forever changed. So sad, since he could easily still be alive today (85, almost 86 years old)

It is sad, especially to think Brian has been dead for 53 years and he doesn't know it !! A total waste as his death was so easily avoidable and that, as you rightly say, he could easily have been still alive today.

I was very sad to see the youtube star who made 69 very popular vids of his cat talking and doing things, has passed away of suicide, a shot to the head. Sorry, can't think of his name right now. I'll go find it. His cat vids got 770 MILLION views !! Can you imagine ! If every viewer had sent him one dollar, he'd have made $770 million bucks ! I wish they had. Maybe he wouldn't have done it. He talked about having bad bouts of depression which would come back to bother him on a recurring basis.

Chadwick played James Brown too in a Mick Jagger produced movie, that was an excellent bio pic. This is very sad news. He was too young to have to go.
