RIP Jean Stapelton (age 90)

Jean Stapleton - I just saw this Rest in peace ..... comfort to her family and friends ... Edith Bunker She was doing a play and touring .... I was in store in a hotel lobby .... she stood in line trying not to stand out .... and a bit incognito with sunglasses and a hat ..... she asked for a New York Times newspaper (the place carried many out of town papers) .... she asked it very softly and low .... the clerk said he saw her play and enjoyed it .... I tried to look without really looking or looking too long .... I saw her for a split second if that ..... I would not have known it was her if the clerk didn't say anything ..... she thanked him for the compliment on the play and for the newspaper .....

Just thought that I would mention and interesting trivia fact: Paul learned that you could restring a right-handed guitar to reverse the strings and play left-handed from watching Slim Whitman. Podgie (did he really sell more records worldwhile than The Beatles and Elvis combined? I always doubted that commercial on tv for his greatest hits) Monkey

Yes, of all the deaths that have made me sad, his is the saddest. As soon as they said on the news that he died, before they said how, my Dad's sudden, fatal heart attack came to mind, and I knew it. Then they said that he died of an apparent heart attack. Sending my Love and Prayers to his loved ones, esp. his 2 children who will have to grow up without their father. I hope they are going to be protected in life by some kind soul(s) out there.

That's sad about Gandolfini. He first made an impression on me in an old Geena Davis movie I saw several times but can't recall its name. I never watched "The Sopranos." Rock journalist Chet Flippo (wrote for Rolling Stone mag for many years among other outlets) passed away yesterday.

I'm still bothered by the passing of writers Maeve Binchy and Reynolds Price this year. Binchy brilliantly evoked contemporary Ireland while Reynolds, a professor at Duke University, focused on Southern tales. His could get so sordid and lurid. No-one ever made a movie from his novels, maybe that's why...upset over Frank McCourt's demise a couple years back or even more recent than that. Wrote "Angela's Ashes" and "Teacher Man." Gore Vidal, famous writer passed this year also. Always found him rather a cold fish. Didn't like his writings all that much. Still didn't want him to die, of course

I just found out my friend Julie of Columbia, S.C., passed away this past May. The end of May. She broke her leg, there were complications and then the fatal incident of a blood clot traveling to her heart. All that, just from a broken leg. It was a shock to learn. I'd talked with her on the phone just months ago. I so wish I'd met up with her again, after that phone call Now it's too late

One of the reasons I've not been on for awhile is that my Dad had a stroke june 3rd and was unable to recover and passed away on june 10th at the grand age of 92. We will all miss him terribly he was our rock!!! An amazing man who was in WWII, retired as Lt Col. It was very sad for my 2 sisters and i we lost our only brother 2 yrs ago. Love your family and show them your love!! even though my Dad had a long life we were not expecting this in the end. You never know when it will be your time, so choose those moments well, don;t dwell on past mistakes or carry grudges. Be happy and always see the glass as half full!!!!

The late Christopher Reeves' father, poet, professor and translator R.N. Reeves, has passed away.

Handsome actor/singer Corey Monteith, 31, of an accidental drug overdose--he was in "Glee" and was going with that Lea girl who also stars in "Glee"-- This is an all too familiar story. He got out of another drug rehab recently. Then they decide to tie up again for one last hurrah, and too often it turns out to really be the last. That may have transpired with this O.D., too. British swimmer Susan Taylor, 34, drowned in France while swimming the Channel for worthy causes, diabetes and another big cause, forgot which one. This is also a very tragic loss. She looked so healthy and beautiful in her picture. Her brother was on the boat and pulled her up and tried to save her. It's so sad.
