To those of us along the East Coast...plan, prepare, and take good care as we brace for Hurricane Sandy.
Declared States of Emergency thus far: DC, MD, NY, PA, VA, and Eastern NC In preparation of extended utility outages: bottled water, nonperishable food, batteries, flashlights, fuel for your vehicle, cash (ATM), charge your cell phone http://www.weather.com/ http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ Our thoughts and prayers are with those that have been and are currently being affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Thanks Everyone!

THANKS EVERYONE! We've been preparing for this "Frankenstein" Hurricane since Thurs. We bought a generator, stocked up with bottled water, batteries & other necessities. We've also got extra pet food for our Yorkies & cats, extra water for them & have several antique oil lamps lined up & ready as well. PP&L (our power co.) emailed their customers with an emergency list and are going to have additional people on the job. One of my concerns is that our next door neighbor's huge, rotting tree is going to fall and destroy our pool and fence. Everyone who is going to be hit by "FrankenSandy" take every precaution & hoping everyone comes thru this safe & unscathed.

I have a really bad feeling about this one. If anyone has any means of leaving the area I would do so if you can. This may be a really major storm of very bad damages. The possiblity of a lot of lives could be lost. head for higher ground further inland love doris

We have a possible Nor'easter heading our way because of Sandy, but nothing like 50 inches of snow! We're in "flash flood" status for the next few days...

The schools here are being stupid! They said they've set up emergency school bus routes. We're not going to send out kid to school tomorrow or Tues. Family first & safety most important. Its the parents who need to decide what's best for their kids during this hurricane, not the schools.

Schools around here have already been closed for Monday and Tuesday. State of Emergency. We were evacuated from LBI and are up north now

Stay safe everyone out there!

We're not cancelled yet, either, even though all of the schools around us are.

Thanks for the link. I just watched (I'm assuming to be) a family, pull up- get out of the car- get blown around for a second- and jump right back in the car.
I never understood people with the mentality of "oh, those warnings are for OTHER people- not US! We're special!"

30 min. AFTER I called transportation & informed them not to pick up our kid, we get a canned call & an email stating school was being closed today. This morning, school is more on the ball - got a canned call mid morning & an email stating no school tomorrow either. About an hour or so ago, we brought all our outdoor Halloween decorations, live pumpkins, flags & 2 flag poles indoors. 3rd, huge flag pole for our American flag is cemented in the ground & doubt it's gonna get torn out. Our creek's banks our overflowing but our yard isn't flooded, but our neighbor's yard is flooding. Very grateful we still have power.

On the lighter side of Sandy, I just saw this message on a friend's Facebook page: "If your apartment is hit by a dolphin, DO NOT GO OUT TO SEE IF THE DOLPHIN IS OK! That's how the hurricane tricks you into coming outside."
